Male, 33 years old. (I'm even more dead than before.)
Likes (other than writing and roleplaying): I'm into all genres of music. I love to cook. I love the outdoors, and walking through the park near my house. (Yes, really.) I read a lot of thriller/mystery novels. And I usually watch seasonal anime. (Or cooking shows. Because Western Media provides even fewer things that are worth watching.)
But as for my many other neglected hobbies, I've played basically every sport. (Soccer and Bowling being my favorite of the bunch.) And I'm trying to play more video games. (Going through my never-ending Steam library.) Plus, I've dabbled in making electronic & metal music, and I used to play a number of instruments. (Guitar, French Horn, etc.)
Continually hearing voices, listening intently she overheard, a tournament was taking place and quickly discovered two people walking the same direction. She caught up to the both of them, putting on a smile relieved that she finally found someone that seemed to be aware of their surroundings or at least more so than she did. Watching the other one leave to quickly to say anything to as they both heard him calling out confirming their was some kind of event outside about to take place. But her main concern was releasing the chains from between her legs. "Hey. Could you help me please?" Genesis asked politely towards the young man. As Fenrir who was watching her asking help, looking at the stranger from top to bottom, subtly smelling his scent. "I highly doubt this person will be of any assistance." Fenrir commented bitterly.
Leo was watching everyone slowly taking their turns, fully prepared to impress Hercules with his abilities. Looking back at his sister briefly wondering if she'd use her powers in front of everyone to do better in class. Leo glared at Roman and Jay, when Roman spoke up, he rolled his eyes. "You couldn't hope to beat me in anything." Leo thought in his head.
Jay smiled a bit, though was a little nervous to try weight lifting because most of his fighting skills came from his strategy. He was completely aware that he wasn't the strongest or most athletic. He would rather stay in and read a book than go outside and run any day of the week. Disrupted by the new student colliding straight into Roman, Jay looked at them finding the situation amusing letting out a mild chuckle. Meanwhile, when everyone was focused on something, in one of the vents inside the gym, Inigo curiously peered through, quietly observing everyone.
Oh I am passionate about music, but certainly wasn't offended at all. I'm only a very recent fan of that particular group, don't have enough time with them to pretend I have any kind of deep connection. (Apparently this album (which is the only one I've heard in full) is their weakest musically from how it was sound mixed.) So I still have a ways to go with this band. lol.
I just try to be honest in things I say. :3 (I was legit curious. lol) And yeah maybe different strokes, different folks.
Quick Opinions: 1.
Certainly catchy, which is what good pop punk should be though, which set of lyrics strike you as particularly above the cut? Or vocally?
"Cardinal crashed into my window. I think he might die. I'll plan him a funeral. I'll read his last rites. Because I know what he saw in that reflection of light. On the glass was a better life." <- Snippet of mine.
"Fingernails on my skin like the teeth of a shark" <- That's probably the most abstract simile it has. And it also curses in the song which usually doesn't help, because it doesn't really add much.
2.
Umm, this one honestly had nothing I could find, overall the song seems like a generic, 'story of a girl' song. I mean it's a sentimental song, which I typically enjoy. But didn't find this one as catchy either. (Is that their best from the band? Or is this the 10/10 stuff?)
3.
Now, vocally this band is better than the previous. (ATL) But, perfect time to show you more lyrics, at least from their album. Now I love 'Black cat' from this album but I'm convinced its catchy FOR the sake of being catchy. Does that chorus ACTUALLY mean anything at all?
"You were heat lightning. You were a storm that never rolled in. You were the northern lights in a southern town, a caustic fleeting thing. I’ll bury your memories in the garden; I’ll watch them grow with the flowers in the spring. I’ll keep you with me." <-- Another example of lyricism from same album. Honestly I'm looking through everything, but I can't find something like that on here.
4.
Honestly more post hardcore than anything. But I have a feeling I would like this groups songs, but I've never actually heard their albums, maybe I'll fix that soon. Also not the greatest apple to orange comparison vocally since its duel vocal ballad with a girl. (and pretty every song on earth is better with more than one vocalist. xP) (But man, you must not think a lot of my lyrics. Lol. XD) 1. If it Means a Lot to You The words, 'La la la' are used throughout. So nonsense syllables...XD (By the way this song was pretty fantastic. I've already listened to it three times...>.>)
2. End of me (This doesn't sound 'pop punk' to me.) It sounds like the 'clean vocal' single for a post hardcore/metalcore album. I kind of want someone else to rate things. But I'd probably give this 6.5/10. It's overall a decent song, nothing wrong except musically it's a little bland for me.
Sorry if I came/or come across as offended or rude. I just tried to be honest. Just all my opinions. Take em with a grain of salt. :3
@Altered Tundra Heh. My only question is what's 10/10 in the pop punk genre for you? Or is it possible for such a genre to get that score? Lyrically, for me. Most pop punk doesn't tend to have very good/complicated lyrics. This band (his solo album)/the hotelier are about as good as lyrics get in this genre (at least that I'm aware of). And I'd really be interested for a better pop punk vocalist your aware of. x3 So another example would be lovely. (seriously good music is always desirable. :3)
7/10 I have a soft spot for stuff like this, it's a nice piece of music. Though I guess lyric wise it's rather average for a love song. And just to not be a hypocrite. Just in my opinion I'll show you what I'm looking for. (and my roommates because I wanted I second opinion. lol.) (still it's kind of hard to "prove") Stronger Vocalist/similar lyrical quality/enjoy it more overall for one example. :3
(Lyrics in description, two singers harmonizing/harsh vocals make it hard to grasp it all in one listen. :P) (Also minor note, this album despite being 'their best' I could never fully enjoy it, it took a while to appreciate this song even. But now I love it. :3)
