John could have done with a nice relaxing night in a hotel suite alone. But of course, life had other plans. John saw the police alert flash on his laptop as he poured himself a glass of sparkling cider. An explosion at the new Queen Consolidated building. Could it be the Circusmaster? He couldn't risk him getting away. John became the Winged Shadow in under a minute. He checked that his knives were in place, as were his Birdarangs and his scarlet bo-staff. He ran out onto the balcony and jumped, whipping out his grappling hook and swinging towards the building. When he arrived all he saw was chaos. He noticed another hero, someone he'd only seen pictures of. Spiderbolt of Star City. Interesting to see him here. John swung in through a window and immediately noticed the Dark Goblin, flying around on his platform. God damn terrorists. He shot his grappling hook at the Dark Goblin's leg, hoping to catch him off balance.
Thank you for making my day XD
Omg I'm dying!
John waved to the driver as he parked the limo and John walked in. He strode up to the counter and said, "John Wayne," with a smile on his face. The woman behind the counter smiled and handed him a key for one of the penthouse suites. John wished her a nice day and rode the elevator up to the top floor where he walked into his room. He set his bags down and started unpacking. Harrison really knew how to fit a lot of stuff into a tiny bag. John set his laptop down on a bedside table and his suit in the closet. He flipped open his laptop and got to work, cross examining any recent police reports for evidence of the Circusmaster.
Just got back to you
John gripped the handles of the plane chair as the ground rushed to meet the jet's wheels. He never was one for landing. John grabbed his bags once the plane slowed to a halt and stepped down the stairs onto the black asphalt. He walked into the airport and past the security line and to the lobby, where Harrison had arranged a driver. He saw the man and walked up to him, flashing his student ID. "Ahhh Mr.Wayne," the driver said, following behind John. "Yes that's me," John said as he got into the black limo. "I assume Harrison has made the arrangements for my hotel," John said as he scrolled through his phone. "That he did. You'll be staying at the best hotel in New York City," the driver said as he sped towards their destination.
John replaced his suit with a red and blue flannel, and black skinny jeans, a typical clothing choice for any teenager in Gotham. "Sir, may I ask why you need the jet to fly you to New York City?" Harrison inquired, putting the suit of the Winged Shadow away. "Because the Circusmaster is there Harrison. And you can't stop me from going. Is Harvey here?" John asked, quickly changing the topic. "Yes he just arrived. Be careful Master Wayne," Harrison said, a caring look in his eye as he handed the teenager a bag filled with all the things he'd need as the Winged Shadow. "Thank you Harrison," John said as he took the elevator from his HQ to Wayne Manor where he went out back to the runway that his father had installed right before his death. There, a scarlet plane rested and John ran towards it, the stairs lowering as he moved forward. "The company won't like this," Harvey the pilot said as John took a seat. "Screw the company," John said as he fastened his seat belt and began to think about what he'd do once he got to New York.
John Wayne was not in a good mood. He'd been perched on this ledge for three hours and nothing. God damn Circusmaster. Could his henchman just be a little quicker. "Be quiet. Bastard could be anywhere," a voice said through the darkness below. There they were. The men who worked for The Circusmaster had finally showed up. His informant must have had the times wrong. John glided down to the ground, his cape extended and landed softly. "Oh yeah. The Winged Shadow. That pansy," the second henchman said mockingly as the Winged Shadow crept up behind them. John whipped out one of throwing knives which had been made with a special scarlet iron and stabbed it into one of the henchman's shoulder. He let out an anguished wail before being silenced when his head smacked to the ground. His partner spun around, a terrified look in his eye. "Hi. You were talking about me?" John asked inquisitively. The henchman remained still, paralyzed with fear. "Look. I'm gonna ask a question and your gonna answer. Alright? Don't make this hard on yourself," John said. The man nodded and said, "Y-y-yes sir." "Great. Now where is the Circusmaster?" John asked, pulling a Wingblade out and placing it to the man's throat. Intimidation was a great thing. "I-I-I don't know for sure but I heard some higher level guys say he was in New York," the henchman said. Great. NYC. "Thanks for your time," John said before slamming his elbow into the man's head and walking off, already dialing Harrison to get a plane set to NYC.
John wandered around the dining hall, admiring the architecture and artwork. He saw other people running around, smiles on faces for what was probably the first time in a while. John reached the staircase and sat down on the bottom step with his palms open. He conjured a sphere of water and began shaping it into different things. First a flower and then a lightning bolt. For him the possibilities were endless.
John looked around the room in awe. He'd never seen anything so amazing, though his father had described the Elpis Capital Building as being quite luxurious. He followed Nyx to the robot, running his hands along the piano as he passed it. After Nyx placed her order, he stepped up and said, "I'll have a bacon hamburger with a large soda and throw in a fried chicken wing," his stomach rumbling. He then looked at Nyx who he was starting to think was pretty cool and asked, "So what are your two elements?"
