@tex But it's not racist if I'm also Asian
@Acromantula Only time and more page-long collabs will tell, friend.

Well, I just realized that Walter is the only Asian character of the roleplay, paralleled by Glenn from the series. For now.

I also happened to realize, by coincidence, that my selection of color for Walter's dialogue text happens to be yellow.

Quite.
Strange.
I think we should do the time skip soon. I don't feel like writing another post of Walter walking out and doing nothing. >_>

Walter nodded. "I came to Dana Point on my own a few weeks after it was established," he felt enough ease to disclose the personal information of himself, eager to make conversation out of the darkest of times. "That was months ago, yeah."

It was strange, really; Walter had been nineteen years old when the apocalypse began, and sitting there at that exact moment, it was difficult to believe that it had already been nearly a year. To think that he was still around, but a baby and a dog of all things to survive? He still couldn't wrap his mind around it.

"No problem," Walter did not complain upon Nikki's request, his eyes momentarily glued on the baby before he trotted over to Alex. He removed his backpack, placing it against the chair that he sat on. He shifted his body towards the door, yawning. "So we're staying here?" he asked Nikki.

"Hey, relax-"

Walter extended an arm out in attempt to calm Ethan down before his friend had stormed outside, shaking his head. He sighed, rubbing his head in the wake of a headache. He honestly had enough of all the revelations and surprises for a day, in lieu to all of the dying and destruction he'd already seen before.

"It's not your fault," Walter told Rowena as he looked to the side where she sat, a weary smile on his features.

Being the one to have always done supply runs, he had his share of experiences when it came to speaking with outsiders. Some of those run-ins were not all-too friendly, but a lot of the times, he had returned to Dana Point to introduce a new member of their community. So why cast someone else away when they needed one another the most at this point in time?

"Rowena, is it?" he nodded to the woman. "I'm Walt."

When Nikki came back into the house, followed by the soldier and Ethan himself, Walter watched his friend apologize to Rowena before looking for the resident of the house. To be fair, they still had not debated on whether or not they could reside for the night, and the possibility of being thrown out was still reality.

Walter blinked, wondering what the night would bring; he had volunteered to watch over, after all. "Thanks for not sicking the dog on me, earlier," he said.
To more relevant things, I'll try to get a post in soon!

Welp, I just got here. From what I've read, I fully agree with Tex on this one, since he seems to have the exact same perception of roleplaying as I do. It's also a reason why I don't write as much on this forum, anymore, ICs or OOCs.

Unfortunately I feel like I have to, for this one and only time.

From personal experience, I think collaborations can and have potential to be healthy for a roleplay, as I myself have done it before.

Where the problem is likely coming from is the excess amount of them, in this specific one. Not only are they painstakingly long and most of the time boring to read, there also lies the risk of making someone feel left out/out of the loop, per se; we can all be adults and take it as you will, but anyone and everyone knows that feeling.

Oh, and to be frank, the reason I've made this mistake of accidentally missing someone's post frequently is because of the collaboration posts confusing the living shit out of me. I've just been really humble about it, and fixed it quietly for those times.

The issue with the whole too-many-collaborations thing is that while plot acceleration is fine and dandy in moderation, too much just really leads to even more confusion and more people feeling left out.

So what's my take on these collborations?

Lessen how frequently they're being made in this first place, involve more people in them, or simply put, go make your own collaboration on the collaboration site.

I'm here to write on Roleplayer Guild like I've done for years.

Take my word for what you will. That's the last I'm saying on the matter, criticize my opinion all you want. I'm focused on writing the actual roleplay, not small talk.
I'll reply tomorrow. Don't do too much without me!

Walter nodded, standing aside as the woman made her way into the house. When the man figured that the coast was clear, he eased himself up and kicked a foot against the ground, turning to enter their temporary refuge. By the time he came inside, all of the group members were introducing themselves amongst the strangers, all in their own fashions ranging from casual to strange.

Hanging to the side but stepping into view of the survivors, Walter folded his arms against his chest and watching quietly. For him, there would be time for his own introduction at a later time; he wasn't sure if it was the exhaustion that soured up his mood, or the loss of their home to the walkers. What was certain to him, was that they had lost too many of their own people in the course of a single day, and reality was a bitch.

When the supposed resident of the building came to meet their group, Walter drew a large sigh out of sheer amazement; Alex had been telling the truth, after all. The infant, curled along the woman's arms affectionately, staring at them with all the innocence that the world should have murdered long ago.

Even then, something resonated within the man as he observed the child. Walter knew exactly what kind of trouble a child was in the midst of this crisis, but it was a double-edged sword. If somehow, just maybe, they united the small pockets of humanity like they had done so with Dana Point before, perhaps the child was a ray of hope? A reason to persist, other than the native human instinct to survive?

Nonetheless, the coincidences continued to pile up, and Walter was not short of reactions as Ethan seemingly recognized the woman, even speaking her name in response. He raised an eye, looking at his friend in confusion. "Ethan?" he said in an inquisitive manner, the corner of his eye seeing the woman walk away as the baby began to whine.

With the sudden revelation seemingly coming to Ethan in an announcement, Walter awkwardly lifted a hand to scratch the side of his head. "You don't mean..." he drew out the last syllable, a short laugh in disbelief. "That one?"
I believe (and hope) that after the brief time skip, we'll begin to do stuff.
