The Hexamilion Wall

Kesi stood toward the centre of the room, in a position to be able to see as much of the room as possible, and to be visible herself. Her costume was airy, and she was thankful that the grail had not been stolen to some godforsaken country in the north. It was a costume she enjoyed wearing, a little eccentricity that was not out of place in the world of Magi.

As the child finished his piece, Kesi held her tongue as the enormous, muscled man first said his piece. A strange one, to be sure, and certainly one to be wary of. Though he seemed to be in his own world, that sort of thing wasn’t uncommon for those in this kind of situation. Still, he said nothing she could find any fault with, and she found herself nodding along with him, glad to be on the same ‘team’.

After he concluded, she began to speak. If he wanted to argue with his Servant, they had the ability to do that privately. “Yes, yes, an alliance against the actual threat here is certainly our best option,” Kesi said, a note of annoyance in her voice. Perhaps it was irritation at a child seeming to take the lead of the group, or perhaps the conclusion was so forgone to her that even discussing it felt like a waste of time.

Myself and Shielder shall be taking charge of the defence, naturally. Whether they’ll actually be foolish enough to attack directly is another matter entirely.” She spoke curtly, a faint hint of an accent in her voice that was difficult to place. “But each of us pursuing individual tactics would be the height of foolishness. Our enemies are numerous, so we should act as one.” With a voice of absolute confidence, it seemed she was taking control of the conversation.

The colony succeeds because it acts as a single being. No individual is too important to be sacrificed if necessary, even the queen. It was one of the lessons even humans had learned completely from nature. Those who do not cooperate will surely be killed by those who do.

And the first step of that...

The first matter of business will be to ensure all of our Servant’s identities and capabilities are shared. I would ask the same of the Magi here, but such a thing would be gauche, and much more difficult a conversation.” She paused, offering the space for another to volunteer that information first. Though she didn’t offer her own Servant’s abilities. Perhaps that was simply because she expected the others to have pieced it together from the information given, or perhaps it was an offer for her own Servant to talk. Perhaps it, too, was a test to see which Servants or Masters were most eager for cooperation.

Rank: ???

Persona

Assassin: Strongest of the Twelve

True Name: Judah
Class: Assassin
Gender: Male
Attribute: Earth
Point of Origin: Genesis
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Attribute: Earth

Team: Black

Parameters

STR: A ||| END: C ||| AGI: B ||| MAN: C ||| LCK: A+

Class Skills

Presence Concealment: C

The capacity to hide one’s presence as a Servant. At this rank, it is suitable for spying, but drops considerably when preparing to attack.

Judah does not have the mindset of a true assassin, but gains this skil from anecdotes of night raids against opposing armies, as well as his stealthy visits to prostitutes and the selling of his brother into slavery. It’s not a skill he has much pride in.

Personal Skills

Jacob’s Limbs: A+++

A method of hand-to-hand combat, primarily utilising wrestling techniques. Inherited from Judah’s father, Jacob, the originator of the martial art. An unquestionably powerful combat style that, at this level, allows one to beat to death an ‘angel of destruction’ with only their own bare hands.

Though Judah never practiced the art against an angel, or challenged ‘heaven’ in any sense, he certainly made use of it on a variety of foes of the earth, both human and beast.

Judah, as the strongest of Jacob’s children, was also the one who inherited his martial arts techniques the most directly. At this level, Judah can be considered a master among masters, second only to his father.

Bravery: A

A heroic bravery that allowed one to fight various beasts with only one’s fists. The ability to nullify mental interference effects such as fear, anger or fascination. Has the bonus effect of increasing one’s unarmed physical damage.

Though his younger self fell to various forms of mental trickery, his long penance and connection to YHVH means he’s unlikely to fall for them again in his more experienced state.

Blessed Body: B

The blessings of achieving success in all things that Judah received from his father, and the blessings of grace in every undertaking from his God. The capacity to ‘succeed’ as a king over earth, second only to YHVH and those who hear his direct words, similar to a certain descendant of his. In this sense, it’s an improvement to the body to allow one utter dominance

Every aspect of Judah’s body can be considered a ‘weapon’. His hairs, which harden and pierce his clothes when he’s angered, are as swords. His voice, loud enough to be heard in Canaan from Egypt, can shatter bones. His teeth, which can crush iron to dust.

Beyond even the capacity of martial arts to ‘turn one’s body into a weapon’, this is the quite literal interpretation of that.

In combination with the technique of Jacob’s Limbs and the damage bonus from Bravery, every single strike from his fists can be considered on the level of a Noble Phantasm release.

It’s enough to make one wonder just how scary he would be in his physical prime…

Either is fine. Cluttering the thread might be an issue if it takes a lot of back and forth though.

Budapest
District V

Caster appeared at the scene - perhaps a moment too late, had the servant decided to attack her own Master - drifting across the snow like a ghost, umbrella tidily poised once more, shadowing her eyes. A momentary glance, and small grin, was all that was given to her enemies, as they made their intention to retreat clear. Pursuing this past the river was an unnecessary risk.

Hero and Human. It seemed there were a lot of things that combination could mean.

She began to walk, arm in arm with her Master. Having her close was important, even if she could handle herself. “Enjoyed myself? Hm, I wouldn’t put it like that exactly. Though I think I’m beginning to understand the difference between myself and these heroes.”

The scent of flowers filled the air as they neared the sight of the battle. “People who fight as if it’s in their nature, as though it could be a method of communication by itself. Such a thing is quite alien to me, I’m afraid.” Her voice was almost apologetic. “For me, fighting is something that should be a last resort. Even in a war like this, it’s difficult to shake those feelings. Well, perhaps it's the difference between one who ‘fights’, and one who ‘kills’...” She pondered. “I wonder how the Assassin of this war will differ from the others.” She said.

In the world of humans, killing was an aberration. Something that was hidden from humans wherever possible, even if it underpinned that quiet world that seemed so peaceful on the surface, roiling beneath the surface. She turned her eyes away where she could. Perhaps that made her unworthy of the title of ‘hero’.

The life of a simple country pharmacist was one as far away from both killing and fighting as possible - though they were the ones who saw the underbelly of the world, the ones who had to deal with the consequences of those who fought so casually. Perhaps that was the reason she found it distasteful.

But in the world of monsters, killing was a simple fact of life. Strike the prey as fast as possible, swallow them without a chance to resist. If it came down to a fight, even if you won, you had already lost by simply opening yourself to an attack.

Breaking her musings, she began to report on the battle. “It was something of a tie overall. Neither of us revealed too much. If our battle stayed on such a level, I’m confident I could win, but who knows how things could escalate.” She paused a moment, before addressing her Master. “Well, I’m glad you dealt with your end most admirably,” she smiled.

The waves of the water broke, and a woman rose from the river. Smaller than her sister - and there was little resemblance between the two - she stared, unblinking, at the Master and Servant. The moment she exited the water, she was dry. Perhaps she had never been wet to begin with.

“In any case, they didn’t find out about my dear sister,” Caster smiled, extending a hand to ruffle the shorter woman’s hair, which she pressed into happily.

Yes, my lady,” her sister replied, her tone clipped and formal. “I apologise for being unable to assist you in battle.

“Oh, don’t worry about that. It’s good that I wasn’t in enough danger to need you.” Caster smiled warmly, lifting the umbrella to show kind eyes. “And that means I didn’t put you in any danger either.”

They walked for a few steps, as Caster scanned the area for further intrusions. “I’ll leave your defence to my sister for now, Master,” she said. “I have some important experimentation to do.” It wasn’t a matter of separating, but that her focus would be insufficient, for a short while.
