Twiddling with her hair, Yvene laid back against the wall that connected with the cot. What else was she going to do? Maybe nap, maybe-..

Aw fuck..

Gunshots echoed through the cell block, screaming and just general chaos seeming to erupt at an all time high. Screams of terror were normal sure as well as the ocassional well timed warning shot. This, though, sounded as if there was either a full blown riot going on or the guards had lost their mind finally. Of course Yvene couldn’t really blame them. She sure as shit wasn’t going down without a fight in any scenario she could make up in her head. Her ears pricked as she heard some panicked chatter. She could only make our bits and pieces as they were semi-close and out of view.

“..at least give us a fighting chance against whatever is causing..”-”someone like me would want to keep someone as useful as you alive..”

She couldn’t exactly see who it was and she wasn’t particularly interested in whoever it was. The urge to get out of this prison cell rose in a way it hadn’t since she got on the ship. The first week was spent throwing herself at the door, screaming at anyone who walked past in a blind fit of fury. Since then Yvene had truly calmed down and stayed complicit for the most part. Not today, today was not the day to stay complicit. She called out to whoever was talking, either person as she wasn't sure who was who. Clearly though one person stood out of the cells with what she presumed was a crumb of power to release them.

“It would really, really suck for you to just keep us in here you know. I have no idea what's running through that little brain of yours, person I dunno but I hope you have a shred of morality. We might be criminals but we deserve some decency. Like uh, not sharing the fate of whatever is going on down there, and seemingly heading this way. So please?” She pleaded to the door, pressing up against it. Struggling to get a good look, Yvene slumped back.

Anxiety floods her body, making her incredibly nauseous. The cells in her body wouldn’t stop vibrating, out of fear and partial excitement. Something was going down, and something horrible. Though the thrill of anything other than a tiny cramped cell and the buzzing of the fluorescent lights brought a twinge of excitement. The fact of all of them might be released as well was certainly...A thought. There were no strong feelings either way about facing the rest of the beings stuck on this mechanical contraption. The worry more so laid on the sounds of death from the other block. Sweat beaded on her forehead as she silently cursed herself for not being able to keep her composure more. The promise of death tends to shake one up a bit.
Yvene yawned loudly, stretching out her arms. How long has it been? Did she even care to know? Rolling her eyes she took a deep breath and started her morning yoga routine. Something to do while she rots away in this ship. Sometimes the thoughts of the endless void come back to haunt her but only for a second, before she tunes out the oblivion she can’t see.

Lotus position to..

She stared at the glass panes of her cell, that provided a clear look to the cells in front of her and the guards walking by. The whispers grew stronger over the last week or so. Dealings of warden this, or captain that. Her favorite thing that she had heard was that they were all going to die, that something was coming for them. It felt like a children's horror tale, and she laughed to herself at this thought. A bunch of hardened criminals and snakes in this place and they are all scared of the “boogeyman” of some sorts.

Though, those intercom messages did prick her skin a bit every time they came on. The panic clearly rang out in whoever was talking. It made her feel a tad uneasy every time. Though it could truly be just some sick joke. What else was there really to do on this finite ship except play some pranks and jokes. Stupid, this whole thing was stupid she mused.

Stretch and move to Viparita Karani pose..

Half way through the stretch set she just gave up laid there. The worst feeling of some kind of anxiety washed over her. Whatever was happening, something was going down soon. Either this was going to end and the prank would stop or something else would occur. It was useless getting a guard to answer her she had already tried. They knew too much and knew too well to stay away from her. They were expressly ordered too. Kind of hard to say no to a being that could transform into your truest desires. When she first was locked away she cursed and screamed for days, frustration of no one listening to her was driving her mad. She was so used to being listened to, and getting what she wanted.

Frustrated at her thoughts and the questionable anxiety of what was going on she puffed and sat back up, returning to her bed. Preening and fussing with her hair she stared, listening and waiting for any kind of news..

Aleria
and Troe

Most of the time on the ship Aleria could unfortunately not remember. Through the commotion she tried her best to help but sheltered as she was she froze. She had never seen true combat and she realized that day that she had a lot more to learn if she was to survive. Forget anything else, money and rewards be damned. If she couldn’t fight or even stomach it she was sure to end up as fish food eventually. Looking to the Goddess for strength she sighed and moved along with checking in on her crew mates, grateful none of them truly mentioned her blunder in not being more prominent in the main fight.

—-
Kathila struck an odd cord with Aleria, she couldn’t quite place it but she didn’t like the woman. She couldn’t tell why or how she just didn’t. She didn't want to put much stock into it; however there was no point in sowing seeds of distrust that didn’t need to be sown. Turning her attention to Troe and away from everyone else she grabbed his hand, inspecting the severed pinky. She shot him a disapproving look. “Why in the Goddess’ name would you do that? You could have just taken the lady at face value.” She said softly, much more interested in the wound than scolding him. It would go nowhere of course, in one ear and out the other. She’s dealt with his type before, stubborn and stupid truly. Taking a closer look Aleria noticed something peculiar about the wound, the blood was acting weird. It was almost as if..it was flowing backwards. Doing a double take, sure enough it was. She assumed it had to be due to whatever magic was imbued in this gas but she had never seen anything like it. Before tending to the wound she made sure to let him know, “Do me a favor, take a look at your finger? Why is your blood doing this?” She wondered aloud.

“If I had taken her word without any peer review...what if she had been wrong or misunderstood the phenomenon?” Troe asked genuinely. He respected her concern, but truly didn’t consider his sacrifice to be in vain...especially now that he was observing what Aleria had pointed out. His blood was seemingly being pulled along the water. He intentionally squeezed a bit more through his temporary bandage to be sure, but sure enough it was trailing westward along the coast at a rather peculiar pace.

Troe surrendered his injured hand to the healer, but not without indicating that the group should follow where his blood was leading. Thankfully Kathila was seemingly distracted once more and hadn’t seen what was going on.Good. Troe thought. It seems we may have found a lead that she was unaware of...best to keep it that way. He noted in his head that this was rather absurd.

“I mean with what you discovered inadvertently I believe it was helpful without a doubt. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t reckless” She shook her head. Least it was a genuine insight into Troe’s psyche. After making sure that proper care was applied she looked back at Kathila and then back to the group.

“I think we should keep to ourselves for the next portion of our journey. How exactly do we follow what we found without letting her know? I mean our group is..eccentric to say the least but I trust them at least.” She asked, crossing her arms.

Troe thought for a moment before getting Kathila’s attention. “Does this mist continue all the way down the coast?” He asked, knowing the answer.

“Obviously.” She said, seemingly disappointed by the mere question.Troe looked at her the same way he had when before sacrificing his pinky. “We’ll have to verify that as well.” He said, not even noting the subtle disgust in the woman’s eyes at being doubted. She had clearly written the group off at this point as people that would likely get themselves killed without any intervention. Troe gave Aleria and Ashley a knowing look before slowly but surely following the trail of blood, making certain to keep himself between the dark red and Kathila’s gaze lest she realised they had a lead.

Aleria turned her attention to where Troe was heading, ready to follow the blood trail. Thankfully it seemed that Kathila had no intentions of following them currently so they made it out of eye sight easily. After walking for a bit, Aleria made her way over to Ashley to explain the situation in a bit more detail.

“You by chance wouldn’t know what exactly is causing this would you? I’m perplexed, it’s out of my depth.” She lamented, confused but curious what would happen next.

Eventually after following the coast line they reached a peculiar formation. The blood seemed to indicate that this is where the next step in their journey would be. Stepping forward, she could see the crumbled remains of what used to be a shrine. The earth had slowly over taken what was left of it and it seemed to have been left and forgotten. The only thing remaining was an altar, covered in bramble and thorns around the base. It had a deep basin in it almost like a bird bath. A sense of unease flooded Alerias body, something telling her that she did not want to be here by any means. She chalked it up to the island, and the strange phenomenons they had already encountered since being here. If put in context then truly this wasn’t out of place. But the tint of red the earth held in this particular place did not ease her worries. She turned to Troe, looking at him with wide eyes wondering what to do next.

“You're the one with the strange blood, pray tell what do we do?”

Troe didn’t even hear Aleria as he studied the strange shrine...He had been here before...He remembered that when he was young he had been scolded for playing near this very ruin. He walked forward in an almost trance-like state as he looked closer at the inscriptions on the cave wall before approaching the altar. He looked it up and down before using his hand to attempt to dust off one of the inscriptions near the top of the aforementioned basin.

“The blood of the last son of house Rev…” He began to read the old runes aloud before noticing a faint red glow as his hand made contact.

A spike suddenly shot out from one of the letters impaling the center of Troe’s hand. He yelped in pain as the basin seemed to drink his blood as it poured from the wound. He kept himself from trying to remove his hand as he felt a strange need to let this altar drink its fill. Just as suddenly as the spike had appeared though, it sank back into the inscription leaving Troe’s hand oddly uninjured. He still felt lightheaded from the loss of blood, but was otherwise seemingly no worse for wear.

The shrine’s inscriptions suddenly began to glow red as the area around the group began to shake and stir. The inscription on the cliff-wall glowed especially bright as the wall itself shifted and seemed to open into an odd cave entrance. Odder still, despite leading onto the island there was no sign of the black mist that had been repelling them from the island. Troe took a few steps before collapsing to one knee, slightly anemic and not quite balanced.

Kee made her way to class, yawning and stretching as she walked into study hall. Of course her and Faye were the last to arrive. She smiled, seeing the makeshift group desk they had put together for everyone. It was a welcome sight and it was nice to see everyone together and mostly awake. Mostly.

Walking up she pulled out a chair and sat down, quickly eyeing up the box of cinnamon rolls.

“..Can I have one..” She said, while already reaching for one. Once she got her confirmation she packed the treat like she was chipmunk into her mouth. She mumbled her praise while chewing, quickly finishing it off.

“Thank you! Amazing as always Alex. Alright so today we are getting out of class yeah? I have something that should get him out. It’s not flashy or anything but should buy us plenty of time.” She said, while rummaging through her backpack. “Time to put some of these uh..powers? Powers, yes, to use. I hope y’all don’t mind but I’m not sticking around for long here. I haaaate study hall” She giggled a bit to herself.

After chatting a bit with the other girls the first bell finally rang for class. Mr. Hopkins walked in and promptly started his morning spiel about what the class would entail and his no phone no talking rules. All the same of course. Today would be different though, as today the girl wouldn’t be around for much longer. Shortly after the first bell the door opened slightly and a female voice called out for Mr. Hopkins. He walked over and held a short conversation with the girl before telling the class he would be back shortly and they needed to stay in their seats. He walked out in a hurry, and after he shut the door Kee turned and smiled at the other girls.

“That’s our cue ladies, let’s go he should be gone for a hot second.” She said collecting all her stuff. Kee made her way over to the door and peaked out into the hall. All clear. She heard some groans of protest from the class as the girl got up to clearly leave. She turned and shrugged at them as if to say “Too bad, could be you too if you really wanted”. She held open the door and with a flourish waved for the other girls to get a move on. “To the park right? Should be a clear path, he’s gonna be on a goose chase for a second. After y’all.” She smiled.

Keegan roused a bit from her sleep before jumping up in a cold sweat. Looking around she slumped back down, quickly remembering she wasn’t home right now but in her dorms. She thought for a minute she had assumed she slept in and the children were in disarray and setting the oven on fire. This had happened before and yes it does still haunt her dreams to this day. Bleary eyed she rubbed her eyes with the back or her wrists, twisting her body into a stretch. This helped wake her up just a bit before she grabbed around for her phone. It had tumbled off her bed and onto the floor during her sleep. Reaching down she took a second to take a look through it.

6:27, the bright numbers were illuminated in the still dark bedroom. Yawning she started flipping through all of her messages for the morning.

Keegan sighed, blinking a small tear out her eye. Little nuts they were but she missed them a lot. They always make sure to text her every morning and it brightens her mood up always. She flipped through her phone a bit more and looked through her messages for her parents. They never directly texted her much, just the occasional I love you and I miss you. Sometimes her dad sent links to songs she might like. Those always were welcome. After taking a bit to wake up more and reminisce, she got up and made her way to the communal kitchen area. It was tiny and shabby really but at least it had space. She’s worked with a lot less. Rummaging through her cabinet of food she sighed before taking out her portable coffee maker and starting the process of making herself some iced coffee.

After almost falling back asleep as she got through the process of brewing it and then icing it and sticking it in a fridge to let it cool more she shook her head. She was kinda hoping shaking her brain cells around would get them to work properly but that seemed to fail as it did nothing. Showering perhaps would help.

And it did indeed. It was refreshing and most importantly quiet. Today’s was going to be a long day but she was mostly looking forward to it. She had never messed with a ouija board before but she didn’t think it would hurt to try. All of the rules Axelle was sending in the chat though was making her head spin. She didn’t want to disrespect any ghosts that was for sure. Keegan just silently washed her hair and face as she contemplated how many ways this could go wrong or right. Or if they would even get the answers they needed. Eventually she snapped the water off and started softly drying her hair off. She was overthinking the whole thing, it would be fine. Besides this whole thing was about them trying to understand what’s been going on. Doubtful they would be offended by that. Laughing at herself, she dressed and braided her hair. Kee went back out to the kitchen area right after, dropping her towel in her personal hamper on her way.

Looking around she wasn’t sure if she had missed her roommate or if she wasn’t up yet but Kee wanted to be nice. She made sure to portion Phaedra out a cup of iced coffee and then leave a little wrapped bowl of cut fruit on the counter for her. Made sure she had something to eat at least. She left a cute note with some hearts that said for Phae to make sure she knew.

Keegan took her own food and started collecting her things for school, making sure her books and her drawing tablet and sketchbook were with her. She couldn’t recall a time in which she didn’t have them on her. And at least they weren’t messy. She’s gotten in trouble before for bringing pastel chalks to school. At this point she was pretty sure she had everything on her, before hearing a ding from her phone.

Shutting her phone down she pulled on her jacket and put her backpack on. Looking back she raised her voice “Phaedra I’m heading out, if you take too long I’m leaving without you!”She smiled, full intent on waiting for the other girl. Today’s gonna be weird and interesting she could feel it.

Aleria Lancaster

The few days Aleria spent on the accurately dubbed “Stinkboat” were absolutely miserable. Never had she been out so far from the pristine, albeit lonely monastery walls. At first it was the smell. She couldn’t handle the stench and subsequently hid away from the others due to it. She couldn’t handle feeling dirty, hygiene to her was of utmost importance. She liked looking clean and light and she felt so very far from that. Then came the sea sickness. She could barely stand for a bit until she also slowly adjusted. She didn’t have much of a choice of course, she was stuck here. There was no turning back from this adventure and she was here for the long run. And this was only the first few hours of their journey.

After adjusting a bit, at least enough to function on her own she started writing in her pocket book she carried. She hid it in the layers and layers of dress she had on. Mostly she scribbled poetry into the pages, just to fill the loneliness she felt. She felt homesick, very homesick. Ashley was a nice solution for her though. She found herself bumping into her and then eventually Aleria just naturally followed her around. Time spent together felt less empty, and she felt very comfortable around her. Maybe it was because of her nobility, maybe it was because she felt this inexplicable draw towards her. Either way it helped.

"I remember you said you were a healer, but are you comfortable defending yourself? I'm not much of a healer, but I have supervised medical in mass casualty events before. We may be walking into one, so please, don't hesitate to ask me anything." Ashley asked, one of the times they were alone together.

Aleria blinked, unsure how to respond for a second. She hadn’t given that aspect too much thought. The thought of war..she just did what she was told. The reality of this all was very humbling and grounding for her.

Coming back she responded, “I’ve practiced and worked with offensive spells but I must admit I’m more talented with helping others then hurting. I’d appreciate the help, of course. I would never decline an opportunity to learn from such a talented mage.” She smiled softly, staring down at the floor.

The times Aleria left Ashleys side she quietly observed the others. She wanted to know the others but the side they show when they think no one is looking. It says more about the person than words could ever. Actions are everything to a person's character of course. Kavius and Sam seemed conjoined at the hip, a partnership that couldn’t be separated. She thought it was sweet, how much he tried to help Sam out. She didn’t quite know how to help, and the usual herbs she kept for salves and medical uses were back at the church. That’s the first thing I’m finding when I get off this wretched boat. Then there was Tonka and Troe who seemed to be studying magic. She almost asked to join but then decided it would be best to not interfere and quickly retreated off to be alone again. She didn’t want to admit it, but she was stupidly shy. She felt a burst of confidence due to her backing and abilities when she first talked with everyone but now? The nausea and the sudden realization of just exactly what she was doing made her want to hide. At least for now.

She tried helping above deck but was quickly denied. Perhaps due to the way she looked like a small porcelain doll, ready to break at the smallest bit of pressure. She tried to insist but it seemed as if they already had all the hands they needed. Instead she opted to watch over the others, offering food and water where needed and fetching small things. Just enough to help but out of the way.

However Ashley was the exception for the shyness she felt."It feels safer with two of us here, doesn't it?" She had remarked during a time in which they enjoyed each other’s company. She nodded in agreement with her statement. It felt peaceful, Aleria felt no pressure to push herself or assert her place around Ashley.

“I appreciate the company. It certainly does feel safer just with us. Quiet, peaceful.”

She tried to savor those small moments, especially as they came to shore. She was in unfamiliar territory and had no idea how to react. Curious though, she followed the others off, watching first. Aleria watched as Ashley was swarmed by a mass of women. Honestly she couldn’t help but laugh at first before how invasive these women were. Before she could run out she saw Nitonka approach. It was amazing how quickly she swatted off all the unwanted women. Being menacing has its perks she supposed.

Aleria swallowed, and looked around. First of all she had no idea really where they were. Secondly she was afraid of being tugged around like Ashley was. She had barely any patience from the last three days and all she wanted was a shower, and some plants to play with. And a good drink maybe.

She quickly chased off after Tonka, attaching herself close enough that she would be shielded from any onlookers. Trying to keep up she piped up “Where are we going? And please don’t turn me away. I don’t know this area very well and you seem very capable.” She smugly smiled, knowing full well she would follow anyway. She would be quiet, she just wanted an escort to find things. And she heard Tonka mention a bookstore, that would be a good place to start.
Aleria Lancaster

Smiling fondly at the rather well endowed lady, Aleria nodded her answer. She couldn’t really say much more as the woman started to walk away. Alright..uhh..black haired mage. Are they a boy or a girl? This woman seemed to not know..

Shaking her head and pulling away from her thoughts, she looked back at her guards. They seemed unfazed and ready to follow Aleria at a moment's notice. It was her family's way of making sure she was doing as she was told no matter what. Furrowing her eyebrow she thought about what she should do with them. After a second she quickly trotted over and addressed them.

“Ahem, I need you to run an errand for me. You see I left..” She started rambling a long and confusing list, making sure they wrote down all the bullshit she was spewing. They were looking at her like she was crazy but she needed them to leave and she needed them gone while she left. She would do this for her family but she wasn’t about to have them breathing down her neck through proxies the whole time. “I assure you I’ve been told the boat has been delayed long enough for you to retrieve these items. They are vital, I need them. I mean it! Now go.” She sighed, shooing them off. They scurried away, and she was now free to join the rest of the crew on the boat. Now with no distractions.

Returning, Aleria made her way up the ramp, gagging just a bit over the smell. It was foul and fishy and she wasn’t used to this type of environment. She much preferred the clear air of the church with the hint of smoke and incense in the air. She closed her eyes for a brief moment, hoping to call her nerves. No matter how well trained she was she has never ventured this far off by herself. She wished she could say it was exciting but something felt rather off about it. As she boarded she managed to hear the tail end of what sounded like an introduction from a lax looking man who went by the name Kavius.

“Who’s next?”

Aleria looked around and everyone seemed just so..reserved. Typical, of course, they all barely knew each other. She bit her lip before speaking up.

“My name is Aleria Lancaster and I will be your healer and support during this mission. I’ve been sent by the church and I hope to make myself of use to you all.” She gave a small curtsy and clasped her hands behind her back. She turned towards the black haired mage, separate from the introductory conversation.

“I was told you were the leader of this makeshift group? And I was to ask you for permission to integrate myself? If not the pretty lady over there said I was allowed on.” Aleria chuckled softly, pointing over to where Nitonka was.

“Also it’s a pleasure to meet you, I hope we can be good acquaintances.” She said finally to the mage, giving a smile. Aleria assumed she was allowed to be here, she couldn’t see why the church sent her if she wasn’t already a part of this.

Besides she needed to be here. She couldn’t glean much from the conversations amongst the elders in the church but this seemed to be a charity case. The church would look bad if they didn’t help in some way, and she guessed she was their answer at least for now. There wasn’t much information for her when she was sent off. Just talk about how she was a capable mage and she was of age to finally go and help however she could. When they sent her on her way she was informed to head to the docks, any group of adventures they rounded up to deal with this she was to join them on the Santa Lyrica. Thankfully she found them with relative ease, she just hoped they accepted her presence and didn’t question her.
