Jake

When Ann hoisted her up by her armpits, the little girls eyes widened more than seemed physically possible. Jake would have found it funny if this entire situation wasn't so horrific. He watched Ann head off with the girl and Ariadne head in the same direction with Owlman slung awkwardly over her shoulder. Confident that the twins would get the two most at risk here to safety, Jake turned back to Aya. "I'm ok," she said to Jake. "You don't have to worry about me." Jake harumphed at her and gave her what in his mind was a "Yeah, right" look. There was no way he was buying that. No one in their right mind would be ok after what had happened here today. He'd let her put on a brave face if it helped her though. When Aya moved off after the twins, Jake dutifully plodded along at her side, casting one last glance at Spectrum before he went.

The small group made their way to the rear of a nearby hangar where they found a helicopter guarded by four men. At first, Jake assumed these men to be reformists but when they aimed their weapons at the group Jake was quickly in front of the girls. He wouldn't be much of a shield but nevertheless he adopted a defensive posture and growled so loud that it seemed to echo off of the nearby hangar walls. He sounded more like some kind of hellish monster than a dog.

Raven

The large tv hanging from the wall in the coffee shop Lattetude was always tuned to the news but no one ever really payed much attention to it as they drank their coffee and went about their own business. Today was different. Today everyone was glued to the screen. A group of people had gathered around as the news copters hovered over the reformists HQ, broadcasting scenes of panic as scores of people rushed to escape whatever was going on inside.

One of the copters had caught some of the carnage that had transpired at the rear of the building but quickly panned away. Clearly even the media weren't so heartless as to wantonly expose their viewers to that kind of gore. Raven was thankful for that. She had looked away when she had seen someone killed on the screen, as had many others. Some even rushed out of the cafe and Raven wondered if they were just horrified by what they had seen or if they actually knew someone in that building. She knew that wasn't beyond the realms of possibility.

As the news copter shifted its attention back to the front of the building, the anchor apologizing for anything anyone may have seen, Raven looked back around to the screen. Her expression mirrored everyone else in Lattetude. Shock and horror. Her eyes were wide and her mouth hung open as she watched a throng of people stop near a man. Some kind of skirmish was taking place between a couple of people but it didn't seem as bad as what was happening elsewhere. Raven eased slightly but her tension and her blood pressure rose exponentially when the broadcast was interrupted and the screen showed a young man in the clutches of some creature. The creature was a complete mystery but Raven knew the man. Cedric Wessix. The head of the reformists. What was going on here? Raven tried to vocalize her confusion but only managed to whisper "What--" before Cedric's neck was snapped. Everyone within Lattetude either gasped or screamed. Some cried as the broadcast shifted back to an equally stunned news anchor who tried to maintain his composure but was clearly as horrified as everyone else. Raven spun around with one hand covering her mouth and the other held against her stomach. She couldn't watch this anymore.

She felt like she was going to be sick.

@AcerRo I was going to have Nate take Jackson to some kind of safe house outside of the city. Wouldn't it be funny/awkward if they ended up right next door to Eli and Olivia?

Now that's a recipe for a sitcom right there. :)

I'm gonna get a Jake post up later today. Maybe even a Raven post.

I think Nate may be out of things for at least a little bit. Did someone mention something about ending this arc soon? Legion is currently running for the proverbial hills with Jackson wrapped up in a blanket. I may bring him back into things when everything calms down.

@Pirouette You seem to be forgetting that Aya's currently holding the hand of my little lizard girl npc. I know she's kind of an inconvenience.

By the way guys, I'm actually considering fleshing little Lizzy out a bit for the next arc. If only for occasional filler. I'm kind of intrigued by the idea of trying to play a character that young. It's something I've never done before.

Latest IC is actually an edited version of my last one. Raijin gave me permission to wrap things up so I did just that...Literally.

The Gifted: A Fast Paced Superpower RP (Relaunch)

As Mu rounded the corner and chased after Legion, all fire and anger, he would find himself flying face first into a wall of plastic wrap that was stretched across the hallway. The transparent film would do little more to Mu than annoy him as it fell over him but it would give Legion the distraction he needed. As Mu was distracted by the childish prank, two duplicates rushed around the corner from behind him and produced taser guns, firing them at Mu. The sound of laughter could be heard nearby, almost emulating the toy monkey. But whereas the monkey had a distinct mechanical sound to it, this laughter was definitely human. It's location was clearly nearby but still out of sight. Legion was well trained in the art of psychological warfare as well as regular old shoot people in the face warfare.

As Mu flailed to get the blasted film off of him, he didn't notice the duplicates and their tasers. When the weapons connected with Mu it sent a shock through his system. Not enough to knock the meta out but definitely enough to stun him and give Legion the chance to end this.

Mu's body spasmed as another Legion approached, this time from the other side. This one was quick to through some kind of bag over Mu's head but was zapped by another rift when he did, Mu lashing out instinctively. The duplicate flew along the hallway, narrowly missing another two as they rushed towards the now stunned and blinded Mu. Between them they carried a large restraint blanket which they forced around the younger boy. They grabbed hold of Mu within his blanket prison and wrestled him to the ground, accidentally smacking his head on a nearby wall as they did. The impact was not enough to kill or even seriously harm the boy but he was definitely unconscious. He'd more than likely wake up with a goose egg on his head too.

There was a brief silence following the takedown and several of the duplicates could be heard sighing. "Well that could have ended a lot worse" said one of them.
"Yeah, we only had to die half a dozen times instead of hundreds" replied another before giving a quick high five to a third. The small group cast a quick glance over to the dead duplicate down the hallway and there was another silence.

The quiet reverie was disturbed when the entire building began to shake. Several tiles fell from the ceiling, one conking a Legion on the head. After rubbing his head and grumbling he said "Time to go". The duplicates hoisted up the unconscious Mu/Kuro/Jackson and the group of clones headed quickly down the hallway. One Legion stopped to reabsorb the dead duplicate and quickly followed after the others.

Legion wasn't sure what was going on but Cedric had called for an evacuation and he figured this was why. He wasn't going to question the order. Especially when there was pieces of the building falling around him. The Legions rushed through the crumbling building but one stopped briefly as he caught sight of a tv screen hanging on a wall. The world seemed to fade around him as he watched the horrific broadcast. Cedric Wessex in the clutches of some creature. Even behind his mask, Legion could be heard gasping as the reformists leaders neck was snapped.

Legion would be the first to admit that Cedric had his flaws but the man was a hero. No one deserved an end like that. Not broadcast to the world. Legion made a point of remembering what this creature looked like. He'd have to make it suffer.

"Come on!" bellowed a duplicate from nearby, snapping him back to reality. Time to get out. Legion gave the tv screen quick punch, shattering it in the process, before hurrying after the others.
