“I’ll go with Tonka” Kasyra said after the Krogan briefed them on the tunnel layout. She far preferred the idea of narrow, confined spaces to open areas. It was far easier to close and fight at point blank range where she excelled in cramped environments. “Fighting in a mine can't be that different to a boarding action after all.” Boarding actions were one of the two things Migrant Marines trained for most, and she had no small amount of experience fighting in cramped ship corridors.

When the snipers were discovered, Kasyra was slow to act. Being already out of their line of fire, she did not need to scramble to safety, but at the same time, she was a short range combatant. She could do little to aid the situation immediately, and so she waited to see what the others would do. She knew of several anti-sniper techniques used by her comrades in the past - the Blue Suns would either deploy their own snipers to counter-snipe the enemy or use large scale Omni-shields and advance in a defensive formation. The Migrant marines rarely had to deal with such situations, but when they did, they used a combination of suppressive fire from their marksmen and various tech attacks to overwhelm the enemy.

Kasyra had always been second line in such situations.

When the Drell rolled forward his cobbled together ball of explosives, she couldn’t help but shake her head in despair. If this was the best tactic they could come up with, she felt her chances of long term survival plummeting. She watched in mild shock as he pushed it down the tunnel glad that she could turn down the incoming volume from outside. She could scarcely imagine how loud it must be for those not wearing helmets. Tonka was also readying his sniper to counter the enemy, but she doubted he would be very successful with the amount of smoke the explosive-ball was throwing up. On the other hand, the smoke would provide excellent cover for an advance. She made her way slowly forward, largely avoiding fire as the snipers targeted the more scary looking members of the squad first.

Nonetheless, her cautious approach and short effective range meant that by the time she was ready to attack, the vast firepower of the rest of the squad had positively shredded the quartet of snipers.

She was quite pleased with this outcome - it meant she avoided getting shot at by Kishoks. She’d seen those weapons in action enough times to know that Quarians virtually never survived a direct hit past the shields.

“Thanks for the show boys.” She said acidly, though with a hint of thankfulness and possibly even admiration in her voice. When she spoke again it was with dripping sarcasm and punishingly criticizing.“Well done on not getting killed. I'm sure you'd love a desert planet full of naked Asari for enemies Drono, but some of us actually enjoy fighting in tunnels. Besides, your disappointment at the lack of naked women will be an excellent weapon on its own.”
That's quite the massacre. Not a good start to the war for Manshrew....
@Klomster That's acceptable in this instance.

@TheDuncanMorgan I'll try and get a PM to you to start things off tonight at some point.
Nice to meet you Olster!

Finally posted Lana.

How shall we collab @TheDuncanMorgan?
Guild PMs or a google doc?
War had come to Formaroth once again.

Lanaya Triskell Dionisia, perched on a tall, narrow rock jutting tens of meters out of the sea near Nyhem, considered how this had come to pass. It had been a tumultuous month indeed.

Far below her, the Ocean crashed against the stone. This was one of her favorite spots to come to when she needed to think or be away from the troubles of life in the city. A spire of rock jutting out of the water utterly inaccessible except by flight, it was truly her place. There was enough room for perhaps two other people to sit if they crowded together, though Lana had never tested this. She sat cross legged, her waist length copper hair caught in the unceasing coastal wind, fluttering like a pennant atop a castle tower. It was cold, biting wind, and she clad in a very functional winter traveling outfit, despite the otherwise warm season. Deep blue in stark contrast to her hair and form fitting, the outfit was nonetheless multi layered and thick. She would change out of it as soon as she returned home.

Occasionally, she would raise her voice in song, choosing at random from the songs sung at court or a few sea shanties she knew. Ordinarily, the wind would carry away the sound quickly, but her skill with illusion magic let her cast her voice unnaturally far with a simple spell, even in these conditions. She idly wondered if she had inspired any tales of mermaids or other fantastical sea creatures in the sailors that passed nearby from time to time.

Glancing towards the sun, she realised how long she had been here. She had a meeting with Duncan De Reimer to attend this afternoon. Standing atop the spire of rock, she began muttering words in an arcane dialect. She could shape shift without the incantation, but shifting clothes and all took a more complex spell. After several moments of chanting, her form altered to that of a sea-bird and she spread her wings to catch the wind, rising elegantly into the air.

It was a short flight back to her house in Nyhem, a moderately sized but very well decorated and kept townhouse in the higher class area of the city. She landed on the second story balcony and shifted back to her normal form, stepping inside and beginning to shrug off the thick winter clothing. She considered her current plan while she changed into one of her more expensive dresses.

A number of her students and several of her associates had been in touch through correspondence - they all knew of the impending war, and they knew that the state would desire mages for its armies. They also knew that if they banded together under Lana, she would be able to use their services as a bargaining chip in the politics of Nyhem - and so they had. Many of them were young and idealistic, much like her. Less interested in money and more interested in changing the world for the better.

That had led to her current plan. It was not her usual kind of plan, for it involved sacrificing mages on the altar of war, and yet, she had deemed their loss worthwhile for the sake of the many. She would offer their services to the Imperial Concord at significantly less than a battlemage group usually cost, in exchange for the creation of laws protecting mages. She was sure Duncan would see the value in both the service of the mages and the laws themselves, it would be a deal too good to pass up.

As she finished dressing, now clad in a flowing red dress of the style currently popular in court, she moved towards the carriage that would take her to Miserth keep and her meeting, touching up her appearance with a few illusory pieces of jewelry as she went.Normally she avoided carriages whenever possible, despising the time they took and the inevitably bumpy ride, yet in this instance it would be both too much magical effort and likely rude to fly straight up to the soon-to-be King.
I was planning on Kasy taking down the guy who was running after Tanya shot up that position. Shouldn't interfere with your collab.
Credit for the new Avatar and Sig go to my lovely Partner @FallenReaper... She is quite talented.

It depicts one of my other characters.
Apologies for no post today, I was quite exhausted. Will finish it tomorrow.

I'm setting it up to lead into a collab with Duncan De Reimer if that works for you @TheDuncanMorgan
I'm looking to get my Kasy post finished tomorrow.
I have completed reading the IC (it continued to be great) and I have some plans for an intro post for Lana. That might go up today, or might be tomorrow.
