Hey everybody. Talkings have been a thing done and now I'm going to put some of there here.
Here's the approximate positions of a number of nations in the Galaxy:
The Sphere, played by Serp, is centered around Sol at 27500 lightyears, 0 degrees (Galactic North.) 10000 lightyears directly South, also at zero degrees, is the Federation of Aurolia, played by Sigma. At approximately 22000 lightyears and at -10 degrees we have the Commonwealth, played by Darkspleen. These three nations form a sort of box where their corners meet, forming a central void nearly 10000 lightyears in width.
Somewhere immediately to the East is the Graal hegemony.
To the East of the Federation is the Hau, played by Monkeypants, which share a minor border contact with them. A long ways to the North are Isotope's Bug Broods - they share a minor corner-border contact with the Commonwealth, with a large void existing between them and the Hau to the South, as well as the Sphere to the East.
A long ways off to the South and a little to the East are the Stoor.
The collective region I have just described is perhaps 25000 lightyears in diameter at its widest point. For the sake of clarity, I shall refer to this region as 'The Sol Clusters,' since all the nations in the area sort of loop around and under the Sphere's territory.
Here is the past 1000 years of history in the region as has been loosely agreed upon:
1000 years ago, the Singularity Wars ended. The Sphere forms immediately around Sol, while humans fleeing from the area arrive at Auru and form the Aurolian Federation. A nation called the commonwealth, existing prior to the end of the Singularity Wars, occupies an area of space between them and off to the side, and may or may not have had any involvement in the war. The state of the Graal Hegemony at this point is not known. If Theoadorable could comment, that would be great.
Almost 800 years ago, the Stoor arrive on the scene from the South. They are presumed to make immediate contact with both the Graal Hegemony and the Federation. It is not known how relations between the Stoor and the Graal might have developed, which probably needs to be worked out. The Sphere continues to consolidate power in the local group of the Sol system.
Approximately 500 years ago, the Commonwealth breaks out into a civil war. The Federation turns a blind eye to the entire affair, while the Stoor attempt to sell biological weapons and soldiers to both sides (these efforts are rebuffed by both parties). The Broods make contact with the Imperial faction of the Commonwealth, initial exchanges are largely peaceful. The Sphere expands and reinforces its power base, and by now has managed to plant Manchurian agents within the Federation.
The civil war lasts for 400 years. Towards the end, the losing side grows desperate and purchases soldiers and weaponry from the Stoor - however, they still lose the war as of 100 years ago, and the Commonwealth is reuinited as a Monarchy. The Federation is somewhat dismayed by the outcome, while the Stoor are simply upset that the conflict was resolved. The Sphere has done nothing but slowly expanded and stretched out its influence during this time. Again, the state of the Graal Hegemony during this time is unknown.
Around the same time, the Hau make initial contact with the Aurolian Federation due to border expansion. The Sphere uses its Manchurian agents in order to instigate a diplomatic incident that ends badly between the two, serious enough to make the Hau angry but not want to invade. The Hau and Federation have retained a cool relationship since then, with a demilitarized zone existing between their borders.
Approximately 60 years ago, according to plans made between Theo and other parties, there is a war between the Graal Hegemony and the Aurolian Federation. The Stoor join the war on the Hegemony's side, while the Commonwealth remains neutral (but supplies the Federations). The Hau stay off to the side and watch. Once the Sphere learns of the human casualties in the wars, they sweep down from the North and begin to launch internal strikes against the Hegemony.
This is where our information breaks down. We do not know if the Hegemony would have allied with the Stoor or otherwise fought alongside them, or whether or not the relations between the Stoor and the Hegemony prior to this war were even stable enough for this scenario to be realistic. On the Stoor's side of the equation, they joined the war not necessarily because they were allied or even friendly with the Hegemony, but simply because they had their own agenda.
Approximately 10 years ago, the Graal war ends, somehow. Status of the Graal Hegemony is unknown, though it is generally accepted that every nation leaves the conflict intact. However, the Sphere requires a reason to have disengage from hostilities; absence of such would mean nonstop hostilities until the present day.
Also, NewSun: We'd love to, but at 180 degrees, you are clear on the opposite side of the Galaxy. Even the Stoor, who would be closest to you, are far, far away.
