Hey remember when this site didn't have 3 tabs in the IC threads? Crazy.

People like to nudge aside the fact that there's a level of commitment to hosting, and joining an RP. The majority of players don't have it in either case, regardless of how interesting an idea is.

I've been gone so long that I forgot what the status bar was like. It's like coming back to an old apartment, except it's not an apartment anymore, it's just two walls and a lot of heroine addicts.

Wow, that was fast.

It's how I do.
What about other sentinate races? I assume everyone in the countries are human, but what about in no man's land?

Currently there is only one other confirmed race, those being the 'swimmers' with emerald eyes. Aside from them, and the usual human races, there is one other race that might come into play later on, but I'm not allowing characters of that race considering their biology. If you want to create a race, discuss it with me and I'll think about it.

Is there a set time when you are not taking any more characters?

I am very interested and would like to join, but this coming week is going to be crazy and I want to make certain, once things settle back down, that I will have the time to commit to this.

No, characters can join in at any time. There's no rush, but I will probably be starting this up within the next week or two.

Excellent! It'd be no fun if they were entirely sane anyway.

So, in that case, would a form of bonded Arcanite-laced armor linked to the brain and nervous system produce the end effect I'm looking for? It would be something they are unable to remove, basically attached to the spine and the base of the skull at the very least. CMAS agents and any handler they might have would be able to disable it and paralyze him at need, and otherwise the construction of it would only allow the person to use their Arcane energy in limited ways.

Something like that would be optimal, yea. Very expensive? Definitely.

@tex Nah, go for it! Just make it trademarked under Sinnet Inc. :p Just kidding. But is it okay if he have the capability to modify the bullets to have different properties? elemental bullets, armor penetrating, explosive, ect. Or would those be available too? If they are, I have another way his gun could be unique. :p

Going on with the discussion of aerial vehicles, if they are limited, what about ground vehicles? what are they like, and what are the limitations ?

Of course, as long as the magical effect is logical, then it's plausible. Elemental bullets are obvious, armor penetrating would have higher density arcane energy, or be fired at a higher velocity, etc, explosive are just unstable, what have you.

Ground vehicles are only limited by how much energy they need to run. They run solely on arcane energy, making them environment friendly. They vary in size dramatically, and are generally limited by the fact that the heavier they are, the more energy they need to move. Anything is possible in that regard as well, as long as it's reasonable.
I've a question pertaining to the second character I was considering, for if/when we get around to that point.

It's clear that a person who is naturally unable to access their Arcane network can use specialized tools to in order to make use of it. What I'm wondering if someone who has been forcefully sealed off from their network would be able to use a similar tool (likely created by a Machinist) in order to access at least a portion of the power they once knew.

The idea I'm going for is an ex-Diver who got out of control and crossed too many lines. For his/her crimes, they were imprisoned and had their Arcane network sealed. With the advent of the Arcadian Survey initiative, they were given another chance to put their experience to work. Unable to directly use their own Arcane network, I was thinking they would use one or more foci of sorts (staff, rod, ring, gauntlet, etc) that drew from them directly but were rather limited as to the variety of magic effects each foci could produce.

The sealing of one's arcane network is the process of stopping its flow at the base of the brain-stem, so it would be difficult to access it with tools, but not impossible.

It would require that tools have a direct link to the brain, otherwise accessing a sealed network is impossible. Of course, finding such tools would be extremely difficult, especially since harnessing arcane energy straight from the brain can be extremely dangerous. The results could vary from amnesia, to headaches, to hearing voices, to pretty much any array of mental disorders.
@Hatman1801 The turrets would range from a foot to four feet, and must be assembled first prior to use - they are usually separated into multiple, smaller parts that can be carried within Cache, his mobile storage unit and work station. All of the turret's parts are interchangeable, meaning he would bring a set amount of resources that could either make one bigger turret, or two to three smaller ones. The throwable ones, however, are much smaller. They are basically little jack-in-the-boxes that spring up and fire a small barrage of 5-10 pellets or beads before deactivating.

@tex Fixed the history so that he is a Diver before he became a Junker. Removed the mentioning of satellites. Removed the Scouting Orb in replacement of a flashlight type of gadget. And under his Magical Capabilities section, by moving constructs, it would be more like his Cache machine than a golem - nothing really automated, just has the capability to move. :) Is that ok? Or should I change it?

Also, quick question about the turrets - would it be too much if they can fire his modified 'Arcane Ammo' as well? Don't want to go too overboard, since I'm still tentative of how far I can go with Thorisa's current tech.

Actually, I was going to make his ammo widely known, if that's alright with you. Ammo would've usually worked fairly similar to his prospect since gunpowder isn't a thing. Would it be ok if I had his arcane ammo be common among all who have projectile-type weapons? Or would you rather his be unique in some way?

Regardless, yes they can be used in the turrets. Just keep your firing limit under control.

At any rate, the sheet is fine now. You can pop it into the characters tab whenever!

Soo, how do you feel about a sky pirate...? ;)

Flight could be PLAUSIBLE, but it isn't a widely-known tech. If airships exist, they are very rare, mostly considered a rumor, and very hard to pilot. They could possibly originate from an unknown nation? Who knows.
I had my eye on this, and since one of my RPs faceplanted, I'd like to join. I'll crank out a CS soon, but first, I have a two questions.

First, any Final Fantasy connection? :P

Second, what is the level of technology here?

1. The intial concept of my universe had a lot of inspiration drawn from the final fantasy universe, as well as the naruto, Megaman, and Dragon-ball-Z universes. But the final product distinguishes itself very radically from all of my favorite media sources. I can't deny how inspiring they were though. :)

2. Technology is very steam-punkish. Computers, phones, and complex devices like them do not exist. Programming is not even a feasible prospect yet (Though I might allow something similar if it is explained very well, and isn't wide-spread and still very experimental) nor are cameras, or any type of recording/audio devices. Anything that can be simply explained is possible.

Ovens expel heat, simple enough. Cars have their wheels turned, simple enough. Guna shoot LAZORS, simple enough. Etc.
@User
Lookin' forward to it.

Look over the issues I have, and get back to me. Other than those though, he looks pretty awesome, and I'm happy to see somebody other than Ebenezer who doesn't use freakin' Ki.

And here comes the first lass of the bunch.

Perfect sheet, no issues at all. I will even add a small description of staves, and how they are made in the main post to incorporate her weapons into the lore. You can go ahead and post it in the characters thread.
How do you guys feel about multiple characters? Some of the newer information has given me another idea.

Currently I'm not open to multiple characters just yet, but if things go smoothly, I will be allowing 1-3 characters per person.
Ahhh, that helps even more, thank you @tex @Hatman1801

And then the Alchemy you mentioned briefly in the opening description would be creating similar effects to Ki or Arcane, except through the use of potions and the like?

Alchemy is a form of arcane science that does not require one to use their body's arcane network actively, but rather, use liquid arcane elements (essentially liquid energy) to modify a person's arcane network, or body. They could potentially create effects similar to magic as well, but doing so is extremely inefficient, so it's rarely even proposed, but not impossible.

The most common use for alchemy is making potions that affect the body, since ingesting body-augmenting magic is far safer, and more efficient than trying to change the way the body works manually. Alchemists can either conjure elemental liquids themselves, if they know how, or enlist in the help of somebody who is capable of this themselves. They can also refine liquid arcane energy with devices made by machinists, in some cases.

It's very dangerous, experimental, and frowned upon by many people, but the potential benefits are outstanding. For example, with enough diligence, a person could essentially reverse the aging process safely, making themselves immortal, which would be nearly 1 million times more difficult to do with magic alone, if it were possible at all.

Think of alchemy as 'more stable, less predictable' magical enhancement.
