I feel like Myriad Reality is somehow the secret glue holding this entire site together

People like to nudge aside the fact that there's a level of commitment to hosting, and joining an RP. The majority of players don't have it in either case, regardless of how interesting an idea is.

I've been gone so long that I forgot what the status bar was like. It's like coming back to an old apartment, except it's not an apartment anymore, it's just two walls and a lot of heroine addicts.

Yami was slow, that much was certain, and Asus easily made his way closer to his body after he was knocked back. But Yami was quick to morph back into his human form and dash to the side, dodging his hand by a sliver. But in doing so, a small remote was left in his place, the remote that opened the exit! "Shit!" He hissed, but it was too late for him to react. Asus had the remote in-hand now, and his chance to escape was nigh.
Yami's jaw was fast, snapping out despite Asus's shift in momentum. The marine's arrogance had gotten the better of him, and Asus's punch hit home. Still, Yami's tiny eye reflexively shut as his fit got closer, and as the force of his fist slammed against his head, Yami lurched backward, spinning on one of his back feet. His head moved a couple of feet away from the impact of Asus' punch, but his rough hide minimized the damage by a significant degree. Still, the impact shook his body enough to the point where Asus could clearly hear something bouncing around inside his shell. A metal piece of... Wait, it was the Key! If only he could get Yami to transform back to normal, even if only for a split second..
@UnfortunatelyI think Gisk's character is doing so already, but there's a lot happening and you're still inside the ATV/acting as active commander. You can wait for me to post later today, or you can post now.
Right for the face, was it? Silly little pirate, punching a turtle's shell was insane enough, but aiming for his acid-spewing bone-crunching maw was practically suicidal! Yami reeled his had back as the hornet-man stepped in with his right foot and threw his fist alarmingly fast towards his head. Of course, Yami instictively widened his jaw and prepared to snap down hard on Asus' hand, ready to not only disarm him (literally) but kill whatever hornets he bothered to send forward. Was Asus going to keep fighting this battle? Or would he run? Only time would tell.

Of course, Yami had no intention of letting the kid get away. He kept the key to the exit tucked carefully away inside his coat, which was inaccessible while his shell was protecting his squishy inner body.
Yami turned his head towards Asus as he fell off his back with a stern glare fixated on the man's torso. If things kept going the way they were now, this would be over before the marine captain had a chance to use any of his flashier techniques. For a moment the turtle-man dreaded having to dispose of his new toy, turning towards him slowly and shaking the ground with each stomp. "What's the matter, brat?" Yami taunted, "Having difficulty thinkin' a way around this rock-hard bod of mine? Reh~ha~heh! That's it, isn't it?" Yami finally turned to face Asus after a few seconds. Although it wasn't easy to see due to his massive snapping-turtle-like jaw, he was grinning quite profusely. "Come on, come on! Show me something interesting, kid! You're a hardcore pirate, aint'chya? Or are you just another wannabe rookie looking for an early grave? Reh~ha~heh~ha~ha!!!" He blurted, spitting small droplets of acid across the ground in front of him. Yami didn't look like he intended to attack Asus at all. Hell, it looked more like he was begging for Asus to strike first. Typical marines, always smug and full of shit.
@Duthguy Correct, he propelled himself off of the ground quickly.
Yami exhaled and glared at Asus in his approach, sucking in air as he reeled his neck back as the ten hornets approached him yet again. Just as they were about 20 feet away from his face, he spat a large spray of liquid at them, and at Asus, from his mouth. The bees fell prey to its acid properties before getting near his face. Of course, Asus would've dodged this as he jumped on Yami's back, but the turtle-man wasn't very concerned with this at all. He readied himself on all four legs, crouching down for a moment, before propelling himself off the ground at a surprising speed to shake Asus off in one quick motion.
@Wind Wild Good post, a lot smarter than trying to go toe-to-toe with the diver onslaught. It also saves me the trouble of disposing of Ebenezer xD

I'll post once I'm free of a thing that I'm currently addicted to. @unfortunately also needs a chance to act first.
I structure my fights to directly counter whoever I'm fighting btw, with very clear weaknesses that I expect my opponents to abuse. These are the moments when I'd like to see people busting out new techniques to overcome the increasingly difficult baddies, but if you have any concerns or questions, let me know.
Yami shook his head confidently, almost missing Asus' initiating attack as he smugly went over how he would crush this intruder without mercy in his head. But before the ten hornets could reach Yami, his face began to turn a pale shade of green, and his jaw curved inwards at a rapid pace. In mere moments, his entire head was covered in thick, green skin, and his mouth resembled that of a turtle's before snapping down hard on the approaching hornets, and trapping them within his new beak. His head morphed back to normal a few seconds later as Yami stood there in silence. Had the hornets been able to sting him from the inside out? No... Yami opened his mouth wide to reveal the deteriorated carcasses of Asus' bees, as they lay in pieces scattered across his tongue and teeth. How in the hell did he do that?! Yami spit out the hornet carcasses a moment later and grunted uncomfortably before picking a stinger out of his teeth.

"Reh~heh~ha! Good talk, kid!" He shouted, smiling ear-to ear. "But I aint convinced! Yer gunna become turtle food, now!" With that, Yami fell forward onto all fours, morphing as he did so, into a giant, thick-shelled turtle with rough skin and beady green eyes. His curved mouth snapped once, taunting Asus as he stood there on his round, three-toed feet.

It was time for Asus to face off against the Kame~Kame No mi.
