People like to nudge aside the fact that there's a level of commitment to hosting, and joining an RP. The majority of players don't have it in either case, regardless of how interesting an idea is.

I've been gone so long that I forgot what the status bar was like. It's like coming back to an old apartment, except it's not an apartment anymore, it's just two walls and a lot of heroine addicts.

First Name: Paradise 'Par'
Last Name: Rapids
Age: 19
Sex: Male
Home Nation: Diver's Paradise
Appearance:

Personality: Par looks like someone motivated to make a quick buck, and most of the time, that much is true. He likes gold coins/water whatever you can pay him, and is often out for the most profitable trade deals. He's also 'fond of' people of both genders. But, underneath it all, there is a dedicated, somewhat idealistic person who genuinely believes in the power of free and fair - emphasis on fair - trade and genuinely honest living, a power that, he believes, can rebuild civilization in a better form.

History: Paradise 'Par' Rapids was born in Diver's Paradise, as the son of Arthur and Miranda Rapids, two Divers who had moved into No Man's Land from the Republic of Teknoh. As soon as he can walk, Par was given as good a childhood as one can get in No Man's Land, but not to the point where his training was skimped on, for his parents knew that Par was going to have to survive on his own one day, and he needed to be taught how to survive. Thankfully, Par, though physically weak, was a swift learner, especially in the merchant arts, and while he had little magical potential, he was a skilled Machinist. Eventually, at 13, he began heading out with his parents in adventures in No Man's Land, growing in skill after every encounter.

Then came calamity. One day, while exploring a potential Arcane Node, Par and his family were attacked by a Chimera, the three-headed kind. This creature had a Lion's head that roared so hard the family's ears were almost deafened, a Goat's head that whispered surprisingly cunning strategies, and a Dragon's head that breathed fire. Eventually, Par's parents were killed while trying to save their son, who was 16 at that time. But the Chimera took pity on the boy, now reduced to first anger, then tears and fear...before flying him to an easier way to the potential Arcane Node.

This was because the Chimera 'merely' wanted the humans out of its territory, and realized too late that it could have given them what they wanted - a way to the Arcane Node - without resorting to violence. Par, although he was grieving, never forgot that moment, and gained a sense that, perhaps, there were conflicts that were more complex than people thought.

Now, however, older and wiser, Par runs a Machinist's Shop at Diver's Paradise, while at the same time going out for Diving Expeditions on his own and with others. Unlike the rest of the Divers, he is against the Survey Initiative not because of a desire for continued freedom, because his encounter with the Chimera had ingrained in him that the motivations of all sides of a conflict had to be considered, but because he sees something sinister in this new move by the Quadra-Powers, a sinister move that, quite frankly, stank of something that would impact the Quadra-Powers' citizens as well as the Divers. And if he's wrong, then, well, he can just change his mind about sabotaging the Initiative; he can always do that, although he would loathe it...

Xena Rock Field

The Ambush Point

Luke was quick to pull his sword from the ground and leap to join Jenso and Onweer on top of the totaled ATV. He shook his head when Jenso spoke, staring the serpent down with a subtle grin. He was intent on fighting the massive beast, head-to-head, despite how utterly suicidal that prospect was. Him and Jenso shared one quality, or weakness, in the sense that their bravery knew no bounds. Onweer's comment stung Luke's ego, regardless. "I was planning on slashing at it, but you might be onto something there, girly!" He rasped, watching the ground around them carefully. He caught sight of Cecil climbing to higher ground as he spun around, and smiled. Looks like these CMAS clowns weren't completely inept after all! Not that Luke was in any place to speak. "That guy's got the right idea, oi, get off the ground!" As he shouted, the ten remaining Divers scrambled towards the nearby boulders, frantically attempting to escape the impending disaster that awaited. Yvette grunted loudly and clutched her side, but Brian was already by her side, and helped her onto the Truck's roof to join Onweer, and Luke.

"The A/B powering the Cannon works like any other, Onweer. Granted, it's much larger than most, but to use it as a weapon might be..."

"Dangerous as all hell!" Luke Chimed in, interrupting Yvette as he tapped into his arcane network to add a few more inches of steel to the tip of his sword. "I'm excited just thinkin' about it!"

Arcadia

CMAS HQ - Sydney's Quarters

"It's so nice to have a plethora of such obedient mages nowadays," Sydney mused, sipping from a small ornate teacup. He sat at his desk, overlooking a series of notes regarding the Survey initiative with Joshua standing meekly behind his left shoulder, and Mina Neve, the head of arcane supervision, hovering precariously over his right. "None even dared to question the sketchy, details of the mission. Isn't that funny, Joshua?" Joshua didn't respond. The scientist instead gripped his clipboard tightly and stared at his toes with a tinge of regret creeping down his spine. "Funny, isn't it?" Sydney repeated, turning his head towards Joshua unexpectedly and peering at him through his silvery-blonde hair. Joshua looked up and nodded with a painful smile. Sydney offered a curt nod and returned to his notes once again. "What's the report on the situation in Xena, Miss Neve?" Sydney asked, listening attentively as he gently traced the details of his robes with his left hand.

Two things I need to touch up on here:

Drones are a little too advanced for the current setting, easily out-classing all sorts of survey technology that currently exists in Thorisa. Robots in general, or anything automated, is very sparse, and not quite efficient at all. Drones would have to be considerably experimental, and could not relay visual or audio cues to your character. I think the closest thing to long range communication/surveillance right now, is high-level psychic magic.

Additionally, gunpowder is a very inefficient resource. I suppose you could carry around gunpowder if you'd like, and use normal bullets, but it would be more efficient to just carry around extra arcane ammo, since it's more powerful, and more compact. Your choice here, though. People might just give you funny looks in-character if you use gunpowder bullets, lol. If your mana-bullets are different from the already-present Arcane bullets though, then that's a different story.

Also, modern weapons do not exist, in general. It's sort of steampunkish. So the C4 thing is a no-go. A magical equivalent might be ok.
Also, fair warning from now on out:

If you're inactive for two weeks without a good reason, your current character will be killed off.

@fateweaver You're safe, I know you're currently having computer issues.
I will add a bestiary to the main post after this fight concludes.
@Letter Bee
Right-o. I'll give you a summary of what's going on in skype when I get home from being not home.
@Jensoman@Hatman1801@Lady Athena

Glad to see so much interest already. We could start with only three people, but I'll wait and see if another person or two are interested.
Rings of Fate

The lands of Nexicon are flooded with a plethora of different entities, ranging from ridiculous and goofy, to meticulous and heartless. The infinite array of races spanning across the continent of Shen make for many chaotic instances of conflict and/or buffoonery. Truly, the lands are plagued with an unfortunate curse that shatters even the most intelligent being's perception of how people should function. Come to think of it, when's the last time you came across a frikkin' human who thinks life in Shen is normal?? God, it's a literal hell-scape of calamity half the time!

Well, not really, but a lot of people seem to think so.

Tex's Golden Rules

1: Do not Godmod, metagame, Powerplay, Autohit or Assume that I won't catch you trying to do all four.
-Godmodding: Affecting the environment, or your character, as if you were a god. E.G. changing the time of day, messing with the environment significantly, granting yourself abilities you don't have, etc.
-Metagaming: Knowing things you shouldn't, period. You can't just 'know' everything about the universe or 'read' minds. Explain your knowledge in the character sheet/in character, and don't metagame.
-Powerplaying: Controlling other characters to you whims. Just... Just don't.
-Autohitting: Hitting with an attack without consent. If the opponent cannot feasibly dodge, they should take the damage, and I will be the judge of what an unfeasible dodge is.

2: Do not spam the IC with an endless stream of posts. You may post as much as you want, but do not double post, and please don't go too far ahead of other player unless you are not anywhere near them.

3: Do not be rude OOC. You are allowed to be rude IC obviously. Just don't start fights in the OOC, or your ass is graaassss

4: Do not create a mary sue. Your characters need to have flaws. They need to be evident. Please don't ruin this for everyone else by acting like you're the main fucking protagonist or antagonist or whatever-the-hell-messiah-twat with a god-complex.

5: Consult me if you would like to add to the lore or history.

6: There are no other immediate rules. I'll speak up if something unruly happens. Just have fun, don't step on each other, we'll be alright

7: Do not sign up if you cannot manage to keep up with everyone else. All I ask is one post a day. No excuses. If you have a legitimate reason as to why you cannot make a post, then that's fine. I'll end this by saying 'I was too busy' is not a valid excuse.

I'm looking for 3-4 people for a small group that can easily manage to work together and enjoy role-playing as a team! This is primarily going to be a straight-forward linear RP, and the character limitations are very flexible. You'll be able to RP as almost anyone you'd like, and I'm lenient on posting length. The only thing I ask is frequent posters who can manage a daily post on average.

If you're interested, please show it by posting here!
