Hey remember when this site didn't have 3 tabs in the IC threads? Crazy.

People like to nudge aside the fact that there's a level of commitment to hosting, and joining an RP. The majority of players don't have it in either case, regardless of how interesting an idea is.

I've been gone so long that I forgot what the status bar was like. It's like coming back to an old apartment, except it's not an apartment anymore, it's just two walls and a lot of heroine addicts.

Mikey narrowed his eyes. Gossick's hypothesis was a little too accurate for his liking. Perhaps he'd been foolish to reveal even a speck of his research methods? Other magic scientists were never to be trusted! They stole research notes, ruined progress, and above all, usually didn't know how to fish. Mikey sealed his lips and looked to Jenso, but not before throwing Gossick an anxious glare.

"Why are you so eager to help me, buddy?" Mikey asked cautiously. Even if he didn't know anything about Jenso, it was never a bad idea to keep a caster around for a quick solution to problems that would usually require one or two trips across town. Still, perhaps he was feigning ignorance, just to intrude on his research! Or maybe he was just a good guy? Mikey's eyebrow twitched as he thought over the circumstances.

Nino was reluctant, but took Lucille's words at face value. She had no reason to lie to him, and her disposition never befitted one of a crook or a troublemaker. He couldn't say as much for Tetu or Quinn. Nino nodded and padded towards Lucille eagerly.

"Milk," he mewled, "Where would I trot? Who would I ask? I've no money, you see," He plead, partially preying on Lucille's kindness for a hint of generosity. She seemed like she'd already offered to pay for whatever he'd wanted, after all. 'I've nowhere to keep it' he pondered, somewhat entertained by the idea of flesh pockets. Nino was particularly against using his brand to morph his shape, however. The risks it posed, paired with the obscene, twisted thought of transformations kept him from delving any deeper into the thought.
Geode, turning towards the incoming Oz, did what most might have thought to be an impractical, darin strategy.

He moved.

His body jumped over Oz and began to float in midair, allowing Jenso's sphere to fly towards where he was standing moments earlier and explode. Geode's vision was disrupted momentarily by the flash of light, but he was largely unharmed by either attack.

Meanwhile, the beams the flew after Jenso continued, constantly. there enough golems around them to keep up the assault without pause.

Mikey's eyes shifted towards Gossick and his lips curled into a sly smile. "Never?" He mouthed. That was the key to his research! He'd done it before, of course, with a little help, albeit at the loss of several mechanisms, an extractor, and enough Rune batteries to blow up a small building. Oh, and who could forget! A small building. Mikey was lucky to be alive after such a catastrophic failure, but completely grateful for the knowledge it provided him. "It's risky business. Modern vacuum chambers are few and far between, and any substitutes I've made have been... Uh..." Mikey paused and rose his left hand, revealing a rather gnarly scar that ran down the side of his thumb, straight to his wrist. "Explosive! Or implosive, rather. Same thing, essentially."

They weren't the same at all.

"If my theories are correct, or headed in the right direction, manipulating freshly extracted magic in an electromagnetic environment should allow possibilities that would baffle casters across the land!" He exclaimed, waving his scarred hand through the air dramatically. "...Eventually. Truth be told, I'm not a caster. The limits of rune machines makes it a lot harder for me-" Mikey stopped and tugged his blueprints closer to his breast. He'd already said too much.

Nino casually rolled on by the group, padding his way past Rocco and Lucille without looking at either of them. That man, Rocco. Nino had seen him before. He didn't like him. He didn't like most humans though. It wasn't exactly saying much.

Without another moment's restraint, he took in the interior of the grapevine with wide eyes. The sounds, the smells, the decor...

'This place is a dump!' Nino thought, rubbing his tongue against the roof of his mouth in distaste. Perhaps his standards were a bit too high? Or maybe, as a cat, he couldn't properly appreciate the allure of your run-of-the-mill speakeasy. Never-the-less, he was here now, and he wasn't about to let his curiosity go to waste.
Geode glared at Oz after being mocked. His eyes vibrated, in a display of what might've been anger, but who could tell? The little rotating vortexes spun slightly faster, and as they did, the ground they stood on began to spin faster as well. It was subtle, but the battlefield they were standing on was rotating the whole time, in tandem with the entire citadel. The helix above them was attached to nothing now, however, hanging in place from the stone archways that covered the central area.

"Thank you for letting me know," Geode said loudly, "Jenso!" He rose one of his ghost-like appendages up towards Jenso and clenched his fingers. "I'll have him shot down before he gets anywhere near our battle." Geode's hand opened wide moments after, but he said nothing, and conjured nothing.

Then, along the entire bridge surrounding their floating rubble field, hundreds of Prisma-Class golems surrounded their fight, each charging their weapons and aiming for Jenso. "Prisma's core served well to improve my golem tech."

One after another, beams of arcano ultima flew through the air towards Jenso, aiming to shoot him right out of the sky. As expected, they were fast, and came in great numbers, aimed to cut off all of Jenso's escapes. Geode ignored Oz for the most part, fairly confident that none of his attacks were capable of harming his ethereal body.

Then again, Jenso's attacked seemed equally harmless, as they continued to pass through him, one after another, with little to no effect on his energy or cores.

Mikey looked over his options and smiled, ignoring Jenso at first as excitement overtook his senses. "I uh, yeah. Planned, sure," He stammered, as tremors coursed through his hands. He steadied himself and nodded. "I'm working on something a little different than a normal extractor," Mikey said briefly, grouping the materials Gossick displayed into one little bundle in the center of the counter. "'Course I may be several years away from a breakthrough," He mumbled, "All of these, how much?" Mikey looked at Jenso briefly and huffed at his offer. "You know anything about Magical theory and the properties of Yim under a vacuum, or excessive pressure?" He asked sarcastically, assuming Jenso was ignorant on the sciences of magic.
Jenso's plans followed one after another. Unfortunately for him, Geode didn't just sit there. When the meteor formed, Geode dashed out of its path, towards Jenso, immediately consuming and destroying the sphere of Ki he released from his body with a thin beam of energy before Jenso had the chance to initiate his next attack.

"Incredible hearing, the ability to calculate information faster than a computer," Geode taunted, while firing another laser at Jenso and turning his back to Oz, "I take it back! You've been downgraded from rodent, to amoeba." Where the meteor struck, debris flew up and across the uneven obsidian battlefield, scattering indiscriminately. "You cannot hurt me with your silly mortal magic."
Geode glared back at Oz, dancing on the flow of the atmosphere. His feet barely touched the ground, but he stood firmly as Oz's attack struck. The orbs within his form vibrated, but they were widely unaffected. It seemed as if they were vulnerable, but inside of the aura, most attacks would be useless. If they could just get one good strike in, though..

"Right, as much as I'd love to-" Geode started, suddenly raising a hand towards Jenso and Oz. He fired off a purple beam of energy at both of them, simultaneously.

Nino's eyes narrowed as Lucille cracked Tetu across the head. Contentment. What a satisfying noise. Hearing busy teeth clack together always brought warm thoughts to Nino's mind, when one deserved it, anyways. The small cat licked its lips and turned to look at Quinn as he he trudged through the crowed and address Lucille. What was this? Another one of those metal men? Nino had been familiar with the concept of mechanical prosthetic, but seeing one up close was something else. When Quinn's foot clanks against the ground nearby, Nino jolted onto all fours and spun his body around, looking up at the delivery-boy's excitable demeanour. He'd no interest in speaking any further, with so many new faces abound. That recent exchange had squelched his mood. With very quiet paw-steps, Nino positioned himself behind Lucille and waited patiently for her to guide them to this grapevine place. He wasn't sure exactly why people would gather around a grapevine, but it sounded engaging, even if grapes were particularly toxic to cats.

Nino Cringed irritably as Tetu continued to mock his species. His whiskers twitched, but he was able to maintain his composure this time around. It was much easier to remain calm when his hair wasn't being viciously matted down. He finally looked to Lucille and nodded heavily. "Yes! Yes, please, Lucille. Hit him with a Deck, even if you must rip one from someone's house," he growled, sitting back down. He spun his head around and began to clean the fur along his spine with a series of careful licks, but stopped and turned back to Tetu when something struck him awry, with his tongue half-out and his eyes wide open, as if he'd just seen a ghost. "Myeeeck! What is that taste?!" He yakked, opening and closing his mouth repeatedly to try and wash the disgusting taste of Tetu's hands from his tongue.

Geode rose his see-through hand to his apparent head and laughed again, his voice echoing through the air. "Please, please tell me you're joking," Geode laughed. His body's frame began to dark with void-like energy, as well as Ki. Moments after, he was coated in a layer of blue energy, the arcane, which copied his original body, giving him a physical form, albeit blue and still somewhat transparent. Was it even physical? "How am I supposed to subdue you now, without killing you?"
