I cannot - for the life of me - manage to manually turn off my PS4 by pressing the button. My damn cat, however, manages to hit it every single she even bypasses the console.

My kids found an old Barbie TV from when I was a kid - you know, the kind that was huge and boxy with a tiny-ass screen - and my daughter said "No, mommy, TV's are flat." Another parenting fail.

My kids don't understand what a (computer) mouse is or how to use it. They keep poking and swiping at my monitor. I have failed as a parent.

I too swear by Berserk, it is one of the best mangas I have ever read and as I have some friends who are also into it I've had a chance to explore the deeper meanings and symbolisms of it. If we get going, we can keep it up for hours.
The old anime was... fine. It's a product of both its time and a limited budget. The movies are really good recaps although some dislike the CGI-style of them. The new anime is simply shit. Censure, deleted (important) arcs and scenes, too much focus on "Hi, I'm Guts and this is me swinging my sword around" and an atrociously horrible CGI-animation instead of drawn animation. There is no depth to the visuals of the anime, which is a big thing in the manga. They've basically slapped the fandom in the face by saying "We'll make a new anime (Aw yeah, awesome!)... But we won't represent the source material and we'll make it look like the intro to a PS2-game (-.-' wat?)"

That sounds absolutely terrible. Like, really fucking awful.

On another note; my daycare lady decided to "call in" sick for the rest of the week and I will be absolutely swamped with both kids at home 24/7. In case you don't know, 2-year-old's are devilspawn just made to cause distress and peril to their parents.
@The Mad Hatter Blood+ is my favorite anime. It's pretty dark and deals with some touchy subjects. But is an amazing series over all. It's a bit slow so give it about three or four episodes to catch your interest.

I don't know that one. I like myself some dark, twisted stuff, so I'll definitely check it out.

I just have to see that something something (dark side) of the iron fortress. I've seen some gifs and it looks really nice. Supposed to have a good storyline as well. For a recommendation I have to say Basilisk, high-grade ninja action in there. I love it.

But I did not have to see Berserk '17, blärgh.

Just had a look at it. It seems awesome. Is it made over a game? 'Cause when I searched for it, a bunch of game stuff came up.

Basilisk is one of the animé I have previously skipped past due to not liking the art style, so I'll definitely have a look at that.

My brother, and not the one you would expect, swears by the Beserk series. He loves it with a passion usually only seen in French artists.

@The Mad Hatter I second @Halvtand's recommendation of Basilisk. Violent, great animation, and not too long. Some other stuff I recommend:

If you haven't already seen Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, that's always my first recommendation for people getting into anime. It's got great animation, great story, great action, and a good English Dub. If you have a Netflix account, they have the full series there. Make sure you watch Brotherhood, and not the original, though. The original Fullmetal Alchemist is good, but brotherhood is much better.

If you want something weird, check out Paranoia Agent (Mousou Dairinin). It's a psychological thriller that's hard to describe without giving away spoilers, but there are some stand alone episodes that are just amazing. Episode 8 happens to be one of my favorite episodes in all of anime, but only if you enjoy morbid humor. If nothing else, check out that one episode.

My favorite anime of all time is Clannad (and season two, Clannad After story). This holds the distinction of being the only work of fiction to ever make me cry. And we're not talking just getting a little watery-eyed, we're talking full-on tears rolling down my cheeks. Season one is a high school drama, but season two actually continues on after high school, which is really nice to see in an anime.

If you want a superb story-driven anime, check out Guardian of the Ancient Spirit (Seirei no Moribito). The unique thing about this one is that it's got a female protagonist who is 1.) not a magical girl, and 2.) never succumbs to shameless fan service. This anime has an incredible story. The action is sparse, but when it's there, it's awesome.

If you want to see the most fascinating anime villain of all time, check out Monster. Warning, this series is LONG. Like 80+ episodes. But, if you can commit, it's definitely worth it. A brain surgeon chooses to save the life of a child over the life of an important politician because the child was admitted first. This hurts his career, and several years later, the doctor finds out that this child has grown up to be a homicidal sociopath. This anime is definitely character driven and revolves around what makes the villain tick.

Looking for sci-fi? Watch Steins;Gate. It's one of the few depictions of time travel that gets it right. No illogical time paradoxes here. It's clever, suspenseful, and has fantastic characters. Check it out.

And, if you're just looking for people beating the shit out of each other, check out Hajime no Ippo. It's boxing. It's good. It's ongoing.

When you've exhausted these, I've got plenty more for you, but I don't wanna overwhelm you.

I DID watch Fullmetal Alchemist, both the "original" and Brotherhood. As far as I understand, Brotherhood is actually original since that is the one that follows the manga, whilst the "orginal" passed the manga and just made its own shit up to keep the animé going. I liked Brotherhood. I was ust terribly disappointed when the world DIDN'T end... I felt the same way after Naruto used his magical sob-story to make Nagato remake Konoha after obliterating it.

I'll check out Paranoia Agent. I like weird shit, as long as it doesn't get too weird.

I usually steer away from High School drama series for several reasons. The most prominent one being that we don't have High School or anything really like it in Denmark (where I come from) so I can't really relate to it and it just feels a bit awkward. Also, I don't cry. Well, I didn't used to. I've only ever cried while being pregnant, at which point I cried about everything, like a cartoon dog dying and when someone close to me has died or almost died.
Recently, though, it does seem that my human emotions have started to awaken. I cried at some sad movie a while ago. I think it was just the fever I was running, but I can't be certain 'til more experiments have been conducted.

Seirei no Moribito does sound intriguing. I'll check it out. Also, I'm not exactly against fanservice >.>

I tried watching Monster. I really did. I made it to episode 30-something, but it sucked out my soul. I did plan to just take a break from it and start watching again, but then too much time had passed and I couldn't really remember what had happened and stuff and then I didn't (watch it, that is). Now it's been years and I just can't take the thought of starting from the top again.

I watched some of Steins;Gate and then some IRL shit went down and I never got around to finishing it. I'll definitely do that, at some point.

I defiantly don't like stuff like that. Boxing isn't my thing at all. In fact, sports in general kinda make me want to puke.

I'll be back when I've watched these xD

@The Mad Hatter Gotta agree with Yuuta on Paranoia Agent and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. You should also check out JoJo's Bizarre Adventure if you're into some crazy shit as well. The seasons tend to change into a different style. For example, Part 1 is more horror based, while Part 4 is kind of like a team of investigators in a small town. If you've played Persona, Part 3 and onward will remind you of it.

That actually sounds really interesting. Kinda like American Horror Story, then, but without the change of characters?

Link to the Discord is not working for me. Are you still accepting characters?

We had to close it down, due to random people joining. We'll give you a temporary link in PM, if you want. And yes, we technically are still accepting.
So, everyone, lets keep this OOC hoppin'!

Any animé suggestions for shit I just GOTTA see? I honestly never did watch much, since the animation/art style just bothered me too much, but I've recently (since having kids) grown less strict about this.
So far, I've watched Naruto (duh), Bleach, D.Gray-Man, Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler), Darker Than Black, Attack on Titan, Ajin and some more shit that I can't remember the names of.
Whoa there, I don't mean you any harm I was just curious of who was running so close to the village. I am just out here to do a bit of training myself.” the stranger quickly deflected and Haruka felt a weight lift off of her shoulders. Just before he had spoken, Haruka had realized that the hitai-ate around the boy's arm was not the one shinobi of Gobigakure wore, but rather one of those from Kunogakure.

The nature of her grin changed in a matter of seconds; the arrogantly lopsided grin grew to a soft smile and she let out a small chuckle again, but this time the relief in her tone would be obvious.

"I am Tashiro by the way, I am sorry for interrupt whatever you were doing as I said before I was just curious of who was running around outside of the village. So there is no need for weapons...or jutsu..." the boy kept talking, trailing off as if he was indirectly asking her a question.

Relaxing her pose and rolling her left shoulder a bit in an attempt to relieve the tension in her arm a bit, Haruka tried her very best to be as non-threatening as she possibly could. “I was just training,” she clarified softly, wiping a bit of sweat from her brow; she was feeling worse and worse the further into the day she got, “I do this every morning and every night. Usually, I'd be climbing the mountains by now, but my arm is a bit … Well, it's seen better days,” she admitted sheepishly, raising her arm and flexing so the very large, very obvious and very gross scar on her bicep was clearly visible.

She purposely did not mention whether she was a ninja or not. She still was not quite sure whether Gobigakure was still under Kumogokure and if it were, if this guy perhaps could be some sort of enforcer to make sure that other villages did not infest their outpost and especially not with all the fighting that was going on in the minor villages around the world.
@Yuuta
I'm good with your character. She's accepted. Feel free to move her to the Character Tab and jump into the IC.
@Yuuta
I don't have the time to properly review your character right now, but I saw nothing terribly wrong with it in my skim-through, so there likely won't be any major changes, either.
I just have three little comments here right off the bat:

1. I don't know if you looked in the IC, but NobodiesHero has a prostitute NPC named Megumi. If you don't mind, neither do I, I just wanted to let you know.

2. Will she hold a grudge against Konoha ninja? I'm asking out of personal interest, since my character is from Konoha and very proud of that fact.

3. FINALLY! Haru-chan is not the only (somewhat) female!

I like that you've really embraced the fact that Gobigakure no Sato really sucks. I really get that feel from your CS.
Everyone, please change your nickname on the Discord to your RPG screename. Anyone who doesn't do so within the next 24 hours will get kicked from the chat.
Just put the finishing touches on my character. Check it out.

He's accepted. Go forth, my minion.

After running for a little while, Haruka noticed the sound footsteps falling in with her own; someone else was running as well and judging from the fact that the sound did decrease in volume, she could only deduce that the person was likely running in the same direction as her. Now, the thought in Haruka's head was nowhere near as eloquent as that. Her only thought was, that this person was following her. The person was wearing all black, but his outfit reminded her more of a samurai than it did a ninja. She could spot the glittering of his hitai-ate on his arm, so she knew he was a shinobi. Her own Konoha hitai-ate was safely stashed in her kunai holster and other than her physique attire, there was no way to know that she was a ninja. She had even opted to leave her weapons in the safety of her home, unlike this fellow who had a katana resting on his back.

In a place like Gobi, where missions were as far between as they were and as poorly paid, compared to what she was used to from Konoha, it was not hard for her to imagine that the ninja here would be a bit desperate to earn a few extra easy bucks. In fact, even in as thriving a village as Konoha, some of the people who had been hit hardest by the war had taken to such measures.

Slowing to a halt, Haruka turned to look at the person behind her. With an arrogant grin on her face, which really showed the fact that she was missing one of her front teeth, she crossed her arms over her chest and gave a small chuckle, “If you're hoping for some easy cash, you seriously chose the wrong girl to mug,” she said arrogantly, placing a hand on her kunai holster to let him know that she was both ready and willing to fight if it had to come down to that.
You guys make me a very happy Hatter 🎩

I, sadly, do not have the time for another post today, so you'll have to wait till after I've got my beaty rest, 'cause this is the one night a week where I actually get to sleep until I wake up on my own; even without having to get up 3-5 times at night.

Remember,guys; children are a blessing...
