The man was sitting at his desk while looking at the files of the individuals who were supposed to be in court that day — Roach Vexler, Pilka the burrower, and Kara Voss. A part of him wondered how an intelligent and promising woman in her twenties could get wrapped up in such a mess. His fingers glided down her pictures. It was honestly disappointing, since the majority of Dominions were against burrowers. He had strong opinions but he had strong opinions against the ones that would attack the burrow bulbs and the miners in Khia. He knew they weren’t all bad… at least he wanted to think that at times.

Closing the file, he sighed, and looked out the window into the city. He had a penthouse in the upper cavern located in Slia. His home practically looked down on everyone else’s, ‘What a disappointing day,’ he murmured to himself.

That was when he reached for the landline and dialed a number. Listening to the tone of the ringer as he waited, patiently, and his thoughts went on while he waited. Would it be the right thing to do to inform her more about Councilor Geode’s activities? It would throw him under the bus as well but nothing that he could get in trouble for — possibly lose his position if anything. Which wasn’t upsetting, he had been a counselor for roughly ten years now. One had to retire sooner or later, right?

Yet… he had no plans to bend over for the misfortune that was happening.

Attempting to contact Isolde @PatientBean through landline
He'll probably realize he forgot his guitar tomorrow morning. 😂

Frustration coursed through his body along with irritation slipping out from his lips — mumbling in Russian — and if anyone was near and could understand. It still would almost sound like gibberish with a few swears or words that were understandable here and there. Running his fingers through his hair again as he continued towards his cabin, his thoughts were running wild, and he was feeling weighed down. He hated these feelings since it was hard to explain or to make go away.

Going through the melted snow, he almost slipped, but he caught himself. Throwing his hands down with force and saying a few things in his native language. The man was not going to stand outside of the party anymore after that. Plus, he knew by this time he had ruined his makeup. He could feel how the mascara and eyeliner smeared on his face and he needed to get himself cleaned up. Maybe he would return to the party? Maybe not. That wasn’t any worry or priority on his mind right now as he made it across the path towards the cabins. Going towards him without any hesitation.

Anatoliy got to the foot of his cabin stairs and began to scale them easily. Wasting no time. His frustrations were trying to figure out how to come out without exploding. Once he reached the top, he opened the door, and instantly spotted Ip sleeping. This quieted him down a lot but his mind was still so loud. ‘I was sitting at the edge of the party. Away from the party, why couldn’t she just not approach me?’ he whispered to himself with emotion while being quiet as he closed the door.

He went over to the bathroom and turned the lights on. Looking at himself in the mirror and the look honestly reminded him of times he came back home late at night from partying or times when he worked late at the club as a dancer and entertainer — he always looked like a mess on those nights. Turning the faucet on to warm water and grabbing a grab, he gently put water on his face before putting soap, and he began to work on washing his face off. Trying to be as gentle as he could with himself, so he didn’t irritate the sensitive skin.

I should have just not gone to the party. If Sloane and Rocco didn’t bother me, I would have stayed sleeping. I should have just let her leave, so I could go back to sleep,’ he complained to himself. Though, he did love meeting Rocco and Sloane.

Checking his face out. He could tell where darker streaks were still and he continued to work on washing his face. When he got everything off, he washed his face off a few times with water, and then patted it dry. Then he stood at the sink and stared into his eyes. ‘Parties are stupid anyways,’ he huffed out while unbuttoning his shirt.

Turning the light off in the bathroom, he stepped out into the bigger room of his cabin, and he threw his shirt on one of the chairs. Taking off his shoes by the bed. Taking off his pants and throwing that by the shirt but it missed the chair and fell onto the ground.

He decided to get into something more comfortable, pajama pants and he went over and grabbed his phone which was left on one of the bedside tables. Opening it up and flopping down onto the bed, he decided to melt into the comfortable fabrics, and picked the game Shattered Pixel Dungeon and picked the mage character to enter the dungeon.

Lying there, he began to run his little pixel guy through the dungeon and fight the rats and other things that popped up while finding treasure and everything else. Trying to calm his nerves while focusing on the game. Trying to focus on the game so he didn’t turn into an animal yet his thoughts were trying to be persistent. He was able to block them out for now. Thankfully.

Location - His Cabin

After leaving Kara’s apartment, there was a mixture of feelings, but he couldn’t go back and ask her to work on him. He had already shown how problematic he could be when he was in pain and her not understanding his native tongue or behaviors made him feel guilty and like a burden. She did not need that in his eyes and he would be fine. He just needed to get out of Dominion and back into the caverns where he could make his way to one of the chuts with doctors. However, he was bleeding, so he knew his scent would give him away like a newborn cry.

Holding his items in his hands, he stopped in his tracks when he noticed a crowd of people staring at him, pointing, whispering, and overall shocked. It was probably the first time they had ever seen a burrower. Pilka was trying to process what he should do. He was something strange, bleeding, and half naked with tattoos showing. None of these things were popular in Dominion or at least not in the upper parts like this.

Deciding his best route was not to interact, he quickly started walking away from the crowd of people, and trying his best to blend into the side of buildings. He knew they would be calling the authorities, but he couldn’t move that fast. The more he moved, the more pain he was in, and he could feel the cooling warmth of blood going down the left side of his back. His thoughts were beginning to race as he was trying to figure out the best course of action. What was he supposed to do?

That was when he disappeared into the darkness of an alley and began to move towards an uncomfortable path — an old friend's house — and when he showed up there. He didn’t go to the front door, anywhere in public view, but he slipped into the house through a secret way before dropping into the basement and accidentally dropping a few of the items in his hands. ‘Dammit,’ he growled while picking up the items as quickly as possible.

An echo of footsteps could be heard and he became very quiet, pushing himself into the shadows just in case, but he knew he was relatively safe here if his friend didn’t have company. Once the footsteps passed, he looked around the large basement, and he began to move through the area to another secret door. Luckily, he didn’t have to do too many crazy stunts, and he was able to go a back way into a study before popping the wall open and stepping in. This led to a horrified gasp from a woman before her eyes settled onto the frame of the person coming in, ‘By gods, Pilka, what are you doing here!? And in the state you are in!?’ She was in cream-colored lounge wear that was more on the professional side. Not a nightgown or the like. She wasn’t ready for bed, but she was doing something for research purposes in her study and wanted to be comfortable.

I didn’t know where else to go and I can’t escape Dominion easily at the moment,’ he explained with a flatness that expressed how tired he was. He was tired. His wounds had never been properly taken care of even in the authority of Dominion where they were supposed to treat prisoners with some form of dignity — he guessed burrowers were exempt from that treatment.

She stood up and got closer to him, ‘Why are you even running around Dominion in the first place, especially with that young girl? What has got into you?’ she asked while reaching for him but she decided to take her hands back because she knew how burrowers could get about touching. They were very social but she knew Pilka was someone who got defensive when he was hurting and in pain.

He huffed out, ‘I came into Dominion to see the riots and somehow got tied up with her, I didn’t mean to,’ he sounded like he was talking back… like a teenager talking to their mother.

You can tell me all about your adventures while I fix you up and how you expect me to fix this poor girl's life. I’ve been trying every loophole that I can when they assigned me to investigate her, Pilka,’ she sounded like she was scolding him more than anything, but she wasn’t trying to. However, Adeline Gievera Kapin knew all too well how dangerous it could be to have any type of bonds with burrowers. She was a lead researcher that went out and studied for years and she even found the higher ups being extremely suspicious or overbearing with questions about certain things that were heard or written down by onlookers.

Leading Pilka to a couch, she set him down, and she went and got a medical supply kit. ‘You know, you are not much younger than me,’ she opened something with her teeth. ‘I’m honestly surprised that I get to see you again. At this rate, I would have thought you would have been cremated and your bones would have been formed into decorations,’ she laughed a little while sitting by him.

Well,’ he sighed. ‘That makes two of us,’ Pilka was honestly surprised that he woke up most days because of wounds or situations he has been in. He knew he was old and lived in a very rough situation outside of the wall. It was normal for people to live to great ages in Dominion or Sevet ul Krav, but he was a nomadic individual. People that were nomadic and loners were known to die at younger ages because of the situations they have been in, however, he was resourceful. Yet… he knew his luck was running out.

She put some type of liquid onto the open gash and he bared his teeth at her. ‘Warn me before you do that,’ he growled while leaning over the arm of the couch and placing his face into the elbow of his arm.

You would have reacted the same either way, so do not get uppity about me just going ahead and doing it,’ she continued to clean the wound with no hesitation. Adeline had been face-to-face with so many different burrowers and was so familiar with their behavior that the growls, baring of the teeth, hissing, snarling, and whatever else because of her research.

She had him fixed up in no time, stitches and everything, and she allowed some space in between them. ‘Now what are you doing here? The last thing I knew you were in a holding cell and then you escaped,’ she stood up and began to clean up all the items that she used to patch him up.

Pilka stayed in the position he was in, his face hiding in the crook of his elbow, and his breathing could be heard. ‘I and Kara escaped and I went to her home with her and she tried fixing the wounds you just fixed up. However, when I reacted badly, she got scared, so I thought I should go,’ there was slight pain in his voice.

And you know people of Dominion are not used to you, what did you expect?’ she threw the items away and came back over to make sure the bandages were water sealed. ‘People do not understand you or your people, Pilka. Even if they want to, Dominion citizens are familiar with… very mild behaviors. They are not used to the natural and ugly aspects of life like you or others are.’ She tried explaining it gently, but she knew it always bothered him.

It doesn’t matter anyways,’ he sat up and looked at her. She opened up her kit again before starting to clean the slash and burn marks. ‘I’m not coming back here for a while or ever again. Maybe I’ll finally die while my arm is out of commission.’ He joked darkly.

Adeline rolled her eyes, ‘Or you could lie low here for as long as possible. I’ve hid you in this house before. It’s not like I can’t do it again, Pilka,’ she continued to clean the wounds before sewing up the slash in his arm. ‘And what about that girl?
What do you mean?’ he glanced at her.

You know what I mean, you care, so I know you’d visit or do whatever you do. Your check-ups with people and I know you well, so I know you feel guilty, because you know that everything that has happened will cause her life to be flipped upside down,’ she explained while glancing at him with a stricter look.

He sighed, bringing his good hand up to his eyes, and leaning his head back on the couch. ‘I don’t know… I can’t fix what I have done. If I could, I’d make sure her life didn’t change. She seems smart, promising, and everything else. It’s a pity if the government is hard on her.

Maybe I’ll see what I can do in the morning. Put in a recommendation and get her on one of the research teams or something. Kind of protect her from the government. I’ll have to think,’ she sighed with a heaviness that showed her stress while she sewed his arm up. ‘I usually can figure things out and I have enough pull in society and in the government that they might ignore everything because she’s young and most of the time. People like her, individuals who take interest in you guys get forced onto the research teams if they are smart. That’s what happened to me when I was in my early twenties,’ she explained while finishing everything up.

Cleaning up once again, she came back over with a few blankets and a pillow. ‘Now you get some rest. I need to speak with my husband,’ she gave him the items before walking towards the door of her study. ‘And Pilka, please do not run off in the middle of the night and be difficult. You are welcome here. You know that.’ She turned the lights off and began to close the door.

One thing,’ he spoke up as he began to gently and mildly undo the bedding she gave him. ‘How are they?’ he glanced towards her.

They have done wonderfully. Aksel got his PhD in mechanical engineering and geology. Reina is doing wonderful in her studies and she’s made a lot of friends in school. They have adjusted here very well, but Reina is more like you. Not in appearance… but she has little quirks that I’ve had to sit down with her and have a serious talk about, so she understands that she cannot talk to people about them. Other than that, she’s on the same track as her brother,’ she explained with a smile before closing the door.

Lying on the couch, that information was comforting, and he closed his eyes even if he knew he couldn’t go to sleep right away.

The man wasted no time going from one of the government buildings that he was being held in to his home — not his apartment — but his actual house. The house that he spent the most time in when his wife and daughter were alive. The house that he spent a lot of time fixing up himself to make it exactly how his wife dreamed it would be. There were times he would stay here or the apartment. He knew Selene thought he lived in a cramped, extremely run down, and shitty apartment somewhere in Khia. However, he had this house in a middle-to-upper class neighborhood in Qona.

Walking down the street, he was minding his own business when he heard a woman direct attention towards him, ‘Mister Vexler, it’s a pleasure to see you. How long are you staying for?’ the neighbors knew he would come and go. Sometimes he would stay in his home for weeks, sometimes a day or two, but they were familiar with his odd behaviors, but they knew what he did for work as well.

Stopping with a gentle expression and a faint smile, ‘Good afternoon, Misses Borne. I don’t know. I think I’ll be staying for awhile this time,’ he confessed while his hands stayed in his long khaki trench coat and he looked over at the woman from behind his shaded glasses.

That is very nice. My husband was just asking about you. Did you want to come over for dinner tonight or tomorrow?’ The Borne’s were always wonderful people. They were about ten-to-fifteen years older than he was. An elderly couple that had lived in their home way before him and his wife moved into their home or even considered it. Mister Borne was a man who served the military for about twenty-five years and had a mixture of feelings about it — regret, anger, and contentedness. Sometimes he would bitch at Roach for being a deserter but other days he fully understood why any poor bastard would run from the government too.
He nodded, ‘I could come over tonight or tomorrow,’ Roach didn’t mind either night. It wasn’t like he had any plans except to be lazy at home, playing video games, watching a few movies, and maybe reading a book or two. Possibly getting back into some hobbies. Otherwise, the only important thing he had to do was make sure he got that encrypted email to Counselor Isolde.

We’ll see you tonight at seven then, Mister Vexler,’ the older woman knew better than to leave it up to him. She learned throughout the years to be a little more demanding and he’d show up every single time. He was rough around the corners but the Borne’s didn’t mind.

After a few more words between the two, Roach went on his way.

Going up to his house always felt somewhat strange even though he had been doing the same routine for about thirty or so years. Whenever he started doing this. As he unlocked the door, a few small creatures hopped up onto his porch and looked at them. They were barely bigger than someone’s foot, armored mole rats, and they were very common in Dominion. Scavenging the streets along with ruining the roads with their burrowing. ‘Don’t give me those eyes, you aren’t coming in,’ his wife used to feed them all the time and unluckily… he continued that habit, so every time he came home. They would greet him, stay in the yard, and manage their way into the house. At least they never caused that much trouble.

Come on,’ he gestured while opening the door and letting them go into the house. There were a handful of them and he closed the door behind all of them before turning the lights on. The house was clean but looked lived in. There was a stagnant freshness in the air because he hadn’t been there in awhile either. Going through the living room and into the kitchen, he opened the back door, so they could leave whenever they wanted to. Setting the groceries he bought onto the counter and going into the cupboards, he grabbed a pack of old fruit bars, and he opened those up. Breaking them into bits and pieces and setting them by the back door. The little critters seemed to love that snack. ‘You are spoiled,’ he informed them before going over to a specific switch and turning it. It was making all the windows in the house change scenery. He stopped a foresty field scene before putting the groceries away. All the basic necessities and perishables he’d need for a few days. Nothing special.

Then he picked up a certain package and stared at it. It instantly reminded him of Selene because it was an ingredient that added flavor to the “take out” he’d actually make and bring her — however, she thought it was from Takin’s Noodles or Geof’s Dumplings. Then he put it into the cupboard with the thought about how he wouldn’t have to make dinner that night because the Borne’s invited him over.

Grabbing a drink and a snack before going back into the living room, he grabbed a controller before plopping down on his couch, and pushing his boots and socks off before putting them up on the coffee table. He turned the T.V. on and began to hook up his headset to the controller while going through the channels before the symbol for the gaming system came on. Welcome RogueViper, the game system turned with a greeting and a little jingle before going into the play menu.

Picking a first person shooter game that was competitive [think of something like Apex, Call of Duty, etc…] and he loaded into it. Tapping into the current battle pass, looking at all the quests he had to do to level up, and getting into a trio match.

Oh! Savant, 2 players are gone due to inactivity, so Mjolnir has opened upon the RPG to accept more players. She put an advertisement up in the Interest section. The char section has been updated to reflect that. So there's no 2nd daughter of Apollo, and no sons of Nemesis and Demeter.

I do appreciate being informed, thank you. I speak with MJ in DMs, so I am well updated on everything (usually).

This is a bunch of horse shit…, the young man thought while sitting on the couch with his arms crossed. The twins had been listening to their father explaining what he wanted from them — something about Camp Athens, how tragedy struck, how people died, people left, etc… — Morne didn’t understand why their father wanted them to go there. Amorey was in university and in line to graduate soon enough. He had a decent life, he didn’t go the academic route like his twin sister, but he has had a solid job at the same place for the past five or so years.

It felt like the conversation went on for hours to Morne but in reality, the conversation only lasted about forty-five minutes, and Amorey participated way more in questions and curiosity. Her twin brother was constantly having negative thoughts filling his head. ‘So there were past campers that died and left because of serious events?’ Another question Amorey was throwing her fathers way and Morne was rolling his eyes. Why couldn’t this be done already? The man had already explained whatever he wanted too and his sister couldn’t shut up. Why did she always have to ask so many questions?

Once the conversation finally ended, Morne stood up, clapped his hands, and walked out of the room with such a painfully forced smile. Amorey’s face instantly went into a judgemental furrow because of his attitude. ‘What is your problem?” she called after him.

That whole conversation could have been done in five minutes. Not an hour!’ his tone was over exaggerated and slightly irritated as his footsteps could be heard going up the stairs of their childhood home. She sighed and rolled her eyes with a shake of her head.

Somehow both of the twins were finally on the road to where Camp Athens would be. They had been traveling but they were finally in Greece where their father told them to start and to follow the map that he gave them. It was a map that literally showed them the way there but luckily for Amorey, she had her annoying brother, and when she pulled out that map, unrolled it, and began to read it. It was quickly snatched out of her hands, a ripping sound could be heard from the force, and he began to roll it back up in a way that would leave wrinkles in it. ‘Hey!’ she shouted while trying to grab the map from him but she was too late as he stuffed the thing into his backpack.

Hey what? We don’t need a stupid map that our dad gave us. I know where we are going,’ he said with a pseudo confidence that most would believe but Amorey knew better — he was an absolute idiot and a stubborn one at that.

She huffed out, ‘You are annoying. Give me the map back because we do need it and it’ll lead us right to Camp Athens. There won’t be any delays or anything if we use it.’ Amorey informed her brother with no avail, he was already walking away from her down a path that looked covered at the moment, and she shook her head and began to follow. What else was she supposed to do? Stand there and let the day be lost. At least they were starting a bit before noon, so they should get to the camp by dinner time, right?

You need to give me the map, Morne, we are walking in circles,’ Amorey spoke up with an irritation as she walked closer to her brother — debating if she should yank on his backpack and grab the map.

His huff showed his irritation, ‘I’m annoying? You haven’t stopped bitching since we started this trip, that’s fucking annoying,’ Morne kept walking.

A frustrated muffled noise came from her as she extended her hands out towards Morne in an aggressive fashion but was nowhere near touching him. One that would have told anyone that she would have loved to choke him. ‘I’ve been bitching because this hike should have only taken us roughly a handful of hours, we started before noon, and it’s almost seven, Morne,’ she said his name with such distaste.

We are almost there, I know it, so calm down,’ Morne waved her off and before she could step closer and grab his backpack, he was already quickly moving away. Without making a noise, the quiet explosion of frustration could be seen in her body language, face, and eyes, as if she was having a mini breakdown and wanted to freak out but wasn’t letting herself — Amorey decided to give up on following her idiot brother.

Within roughly twenty minutes, Amorey was standing at the entrance of the walled community, ‘That idiot should have listened to me…’ she mumbled while looking behind her. Morne was not in sight and for some reason that didn’t bother her as much as she thought it would have. He wouldn’t listen, he wouldn’t use the map, they continued to argue, and she was sore and to the point of freezing even though she was layered for the weather. However, she didn’t plan on being out for hours and hours. The walk to the camp was only supposed to be roughly two hours from where they started or at least that’s what she calculated. Going up to the gate, she realized there was a fingerprint scanner, so she took off her glove and put her finger print in. Everything seemed to be fine before the gate popped open and it made her jump. Why? She had no idea but being out in the middle of the woods during dark with barely any resources might have caused her alertness to be on high alert.

Looking back behind her, she found that she felt slightly uncomfortable not having her brother with her, ‘He’ll make it,’ she whispered to herself before stepping into the walled area and the gates closed behind her. She slowly made her way through the area and realized that… snow was melting? Her brows furrowed when she realized how hot it was too. ‘This doesn’t make any sense,’ she spoke to herself but she had never come across temperature or weather magics before. How could it be so cold outside and everything seeming like spring in visuals and summer in temperature?

That’s when she noticed all the lights more towards the middle of the camp and she decided that was where she would head because she could see the silhouettes of people. Maybe there was an introduction party? She looked down at herself and sighed, if Morne listened they would have been here hours ago and would have been able to make it in time for whatever was happening. They probably missed some important speeches, talks, and everything else.

About twenty minutes later, ‘Maybe we should use the map…’ he spoke out and turned to look behind him to realize his sister wasn’t there, her footprints weren’t following him, and he was alone. ‘That fucking bitch left me,’ he gasped in disbelief. ‘How could she do that? When did she leave? What the actual fuck!?’ Morne got loud and he then heard a few birds call off in the distance and a few things moved which caused him to tense up.

She could have at least said something…,’ he continued his mumbling and bitching as he started following his foot prints back to where he came from. She was so annoying. She wouldn’t stop complaining or talking, then she would just go quiet for no reason, and then she left without a word? Who does that? Morne decided to stop and look into his bag.

Ha!’ he grabbed the map out of his bag. ‘This is why I don’t let you have things, Amorey. You would have taken this shit and ran,’ he closed his bag back up and put it on. Opening the map with the very little light he had because of the moonlight and how it was being blocked by clouds as well. ‘If we just used the map in the first place, we would have been there hours ago,’ he commented smugly to himself. ‘Hopefully she isn’t there yet and I can laugh in her face when she arrives and sees that I made it first,’ Morne began to set off his tracks and follow what the map was saying or at least following it as well as he possibly could.

Location(s):

Amorey arrived at camp and is heading towards the gathering of people.

Morne is still in the woods.
I have figured it out. I think I got their post down for the most part, but I am going to wait a day or two before rereading it and posting it unless I get ambitious tomorrow.

Yeah, couples make sense tho.

And I totally understand, Nelly seems like someone who would love truth and dare or what not. And I feel like most people are like that, they have a line that they won't cross, but usually people don't dare people to cross those lines.
@Pristine1281 And I really appreciate the thoughtfulness. I've been struggling to write up their introduction scene and I am trying my best to get them there but we will see what happens with the Dionysus kids.

And I'm not going to pre-plan or do any what-ifs with anyone about it. If things happen with characters, things will happen, but I think my characters will most likely disappoint MJ in the category of getting a kiss or kissing someone. lol

Maybe Nelly will be successful this time?
@Pristine1281 I appreciate being included but I think I'd have an unfair advantage when I've had a few people tell me their hopes or non-solid plans that surround that type of stuff.

But if I'm making guesses just about my characters. I doubt any of them will be kissed unless it's forced upon them by someone else.
