Khaine, Lenuria Ruins

So it seemed this warrior was not inexperienced at fighting teleportation. Annoying. No matter how powerful a gun was useless if it didn't hit, and it had left Khaine open, however momentarily, for a counterattack. He had intended to teleport away immediately after firing, but a ray of light cut past his side just before he vanished. Appearing a good few hundred meters away from Saef, Khaine noticed the demon attacking the space he had just occupied. Fortunately, he'd had the common sense to disengage immediately. Fighting two opponents would be annoying, but at least this fungus-themed demon didn't seem to possess very fast attacks. As long as Khaine was able to react to an attack, teleportation would make it useless. However, dealing with the general would be rather more difficult. A shield left no real weaknesses to exploit, and fast attacks were an issue.

For just a moment, Khaine contemplated his next step. The process took only a half a second, but allowed him some insight into the situation. The water around his shallow wound bubbled as it was exposed to the heat of his internal fire. Despite being outnumbered, his opponents were currently in an advantageous situation. Grouped up. Godfall would take a bit to recharge, but that was far from his only weapon. If tricks and strategy didn't work, raw power would have to do.

The water flashed red, as portals opened up all around Saef and Bonesword. Even as they popped into existence they began rapidly freezing the water around them, regardless of salt content. These portals led directly to the frozen lakes of the ninth layer of hell, and the touch of that place could freeze any body of water. Of course it wouldn't be enough to freeze the ocean, but certainly create a large block of ice around his two adversaries. The portals themselves were arranged in a sphere, and as such the water Bonesword and Saef were in would rapidly become encased in ice. Breaking the ice might work, but the water would immediately refreeze, and the frost would continuously grow inward and outward. Maintaining this many portals took continuous effort from Khaine so he wouldn't be able to do anything else while he maintained this, not even move. However according to his calculations he'd be able to freeze that entire area solid well before the blades of light reached him.

Of course, that was when an ancient horror from the depths of the ocean emerged out of nowhere and spawned a horde of frenzied abominations of nature to devour all life that had intruded on it's domain. Because OF COURSE it did. This wasn't exactly great timing. Khaine had kind of committed here, and had no way of defending himself without halting his attack. Without any nearby allies to call on that left him with... well, nothing. He was just left standing there, stretching out his arms and concentrating while the monsters roamed ever closer, hoping that they didn't attack him. He was made of metal and fire, so he probably wasn't very tasty anyway. Actually, nevermind. Eldritch abominations. All bets were off. Maybe they ate souls or something. And he had a bunch of those.

This situation was in no way improved when Khaine noticed ANOTHER titanic sea creature observing the battle from above. This one looked even more massive than the tentacled one. And it slightly resembled the aquatic variant of a certain vassal. At least this one didn't look like it wanted to eat anyone, yet, but that didn't make it any less worrisome. Hopefully Khaine would be able to defeat these two quickly and move on to the big monster things.
@TheWindel@The 42nd Gecko
Eh, I was worried due to me being absent suddenly. I'll try and get a post up.
So due to my mother becoming hospitalized I've been generally unavailable for the past week-and-a-half. My apologies for this. My life's been a bit hectic, but things are finally going back to normal over here. Hence my returning ability to actually post. My apologies for the lack of activity, however, it was an unavoidable situation.

So once again I'm checking whether I'm kicked out or expected to return.
I don't think I ever officially posted here about me leaving, so this is that post. Due to my mother becoming hospitalized I've had to trim the rps I'm engaged in, and this rp is on the trimming list. While I love the concept, characters and story, there's just been too much conflict between me and the GM(s). For some reason my playstyle appears to clash with them, and this has caused repeated issues. So for the last time I apologize for any inconvenience.

Goodbye, sayonara, live long and prosper, etc.
I'm still here, just waiting on Etranger to respond with Mycona. Sent them a PM so I can clear up whether they intend to disappear permanently or not, so I should be able to move my character along either way.
Matt Harken - Mordhaben's Proper

"Oh, uh, sober, that's... uh.... well when you're affected by liquor, or..." Matt scratched his head for a moment. He'd seen his dad sober up from a long night at the tavern often enough to be familiar with the mechanics of alcohol, but he wasn't sure how to explain it. He was reaching for some sort of reference point, but he could tell from this girl's expression she had no idea what he was talking about. He wasn't talking now, and she was just staring at him expectantly. Why had he thought this was a good idea? Oh God, she probably thought he was a moron. He could feel a cold trail of sweat slowly make it's way down his face.

Wait.... was he a friend? Was she trying to be friends with him? Was this a rhetorical question, one of those questions he wasn't supposed to answer normally? Maybe she was just trying to spread the idea that she was a 'friendly person', create an impression, but didn't expect anyone to actually answer. Or maybe she was actually reaching out to him for some reason he couldn't comprehend, and if he declined she'd be deeply offended. He'd probably be exiled from the school for such a grave offense. When he talked to her had he accepted some sort of responsibility, was that why she was asking this question? Or maybe she was still just being ridiculous and he just needed to explain to her that this wasn't how you acted. Could he really tell her how to act? Would that be presumptuous? He'd headed into this situation high off of the new sights and sounds and places, thinking he could actually talk to PEOPLE. Strangers, no less! And her face wasn't helping. She was just sitting there, expectantly. What did that face mean? Was it anger? Disappointment? Boredom? Was she about to vomit on his shoes and collapse? Wait, what if she did collapse, and he had to do something. She probably would collapse! Any moment now! And he had no idea what to do about collapsing girls! And- And- And....

"Alcohol is a CHEMICAL!"

Having exhausted all his other options, Matt simply blurted out something vaguely related to the situation. Was it the right thing to say? Probably not. But it was something! And now that he was talking, he just kept talking. As long as his mouth was working, his brain didn't have to.

"In order to create any form of liquor you must first cause the chemical alcohol to come into existence by fermenting certain fruits, such as....."

This was going to take a while. He was explaining everything. She hadn't walked away or vomited yet, so he just kept going.

"...local varieties of wine, a variety of different ingredients can be...."

Why hadn't she shut him up yet? He was just rambling, he had no idea where this conversation was going. Hell, he was barely breathing. Could she really be interested in what he was saying? Probably not. Was she not interrupting him because it would be rude? She'd probably walk away the moment he stopped talking, with that disgusted look in her eye. But as long as he kept talking....

"....giant crab things, but they don't like fire I heard and maybe also garlic but that was in another book that..."

Wait when had they gotten to crabs? This wasn't even the original subject matter. Why was nobody stopping him? No normal person could have stayed interest throughout this train crash of a monologue. Had she died on her feet? Nope, definitely still breathing. Still looking at him. Did he have something on his face?

"....with a laserbeam to the spleen but only on sundays also have you noticed that the weather..."

The bottom of the barrel. Talking about the weather. Surely, something had gone wrong here. Matt was drenched in his own sweat, silently begging for someone to stop him. He had already committed social suicide. Someone stop him. Please.
I don't mean to be overly critical, but 'time pause' seems like a pretty overpowered ability. After all, pausing time basically makes it impossible to hit you, and impossible to block your attacks. Just pausing time and shooting a bullet into someone's head would kill most pro mages. Nothing they can do about it, time's paused.
Intended to post for Antaeus as well, but it's getting too late. Sorry. I'm going to fall unconscious now, I'll post for Antaeus tomorrow morning when I wake up.
Khaine, Lenuria Ruins

Even as the Angelic mage cut through his chains, Khaine suddenly spotted another attack from a different direction. Instinctively he flashed across the battlefield once more, a mere instant before the blade struck the water where he had been. Where had that attack come from? It seemed that another demon had joined the battle. So why had Khaine been attacked? This must be a traitor, a Demon who had joined the ranks of the Machina. Not that Khaine had any right to judge them. But in this situation it was certainly inconvenient. To make things worse those blades of light once more changed their course, homing in on his location. Teleportation was an excellent defense tactic, especially against multiple opponents, but it wasn't doing anything more than stalling for time. Honestly the demon seemed like the less threatening of the two opponents, and Khaine's preferred strategy would be to teleport towards this new adversary for a surprise attack. But, unfortunately, it seemed he didn't have the luxury of choosing his targets.

Even as he took a moment to decide on his next course of action the mage unleashed some sort of dispel-like ability. It seemed he was facing a true mage, someone who didn't merely channel magic into specific abilities but rather focused on the understanding of magic as a whole. A dangerous prospect indeed. While Khaine had studied the topic somewhat, he lacked the talent to use it properly. Previously time was on his side, after all he could keep dodging till kingdom come. But if this mage managed to perfect that dispell, this battle would suddenly get significantly more troublesome. So it was time for a change of tactics. Mages were at their best when they had time to think, so he'd have to take that away. Push him back with heavy aggression, see if he was able to break the mage's defenses before the mage was able to formulate a counter. Deal with the demon later.

First, Khaine needed to keep his demonic adversary busy. Lightning arched around Bonesword, as a cage of dark steel seemed to spontaneously materialize around him. The cage itself was capable of taking a very solid beating, but Khaine wasn't confident it would hold the Demon, so he added a little bit extra. Large tubes filled with unstable explosives were wrapped around the bars, clearly marked as such. Any attempt to escape the cage was likely to set off the explosion, unless extreme care was used. The point was not to damage Bonesword, but rather to force him to move slowly. The explosion was unlikely to be lethal, but would certainly hurt like Hell. Literally. If Khaine could just keep the demon occupied for a bit, he'd be able to take on the mage properly.

Next step was actually getting through the shield. While Khaine was confident he could deal more damage than the shield was able to soak up, the problem was the mage's ability to cast while the shield was up. Physical trauma could force a mage to abort a spell, even when most of the shock was absorbed by armour. Likely this was the reason this particular mage had opted for a forcefield. So then Khaine would have to rely on shock and awe, combined with concentrated high-powered attacks. Keep the enemy off their guard while dealing large amounts of damage.

With a flash, Khaine appeared inches away from the mage's face, arm outstretched. This was not the leadup to an attack, but rather intended to get a quick reaction. As a trained warrior the mage was likely to attack Khaine out of reflex, an attack that would inevitably miss as Khaine instantly moved behind the mage. As long as he was able to teleport, it would be incredibly difficult to pin him down with any directed attacks, melee or ranged. Of course, that wasn't likely to do much to reflex. After all, it was only natural for a warrior to lash out when an enemy appears spontaneously near them. But behind the mage, also, wasn't Khaine's final destination. Instead he appeared right above the mage, just outside of his field of vision. In three quick teleports he'd hoped to confuse and disorient his opponent, while also setting himself up for a powerful attack. For Khaine's arm was still outstretched, and now it held the mighty cannon Godfall. This fusion of demonic magic and Machina technology was easily one of the most powerful weapons in Khaine's arsenal, capable of ripping through even the most powerful of angelic defensive magic.

So then, the most powerful weapon at the perfect angle. It would be interesting to see how the mage attempted to dodge an attack like this. After all, even assuming this shield was far more powerful than the ones equipped on the more 'standard' infantry units, it was unlikely to survive a point-blank shot from the Godfall rail-canon.

With grim satisfaction, Khaine pulled the trigger.
Khaine, Lenuria Ruins

@Silvan Haven

Those shields were quite effective, but seemed vulnerable to repeated attacks. A single heavy blow might have a hard time getting through, but two attacks were far more effective. Of course the soldiers soon picked up on Khaine's method of attack and changed their tactics, attempting to break line of sight with Khaine while also firing on the crabs. A figure Khaine assumed to be their leader broke off from the main group and rushed towards him, surrounded by a golden aura that clearly identified him as one of Heaven's champions. So it seemed that this leader figure would be his first opponent in this battle. Interesting. He'd seen what the soldiers were capable of, but from what steel was the general forged? Only one way to find out.

As over a dozen glowing projectiles zoomed towards Khaine from a variety of different directions, the demonic knight was forced to put a halt to his attacks. His powers were dependent on his focus, after all, and it would be hard to focus on both the soldiers and the general. For now he'd engage this enemy in single combat. With a flash of red light he vanished, the projectiles striking the water where he'd been a moment ago. Being underwater had it's upsides and downsides, but they certainly made any form of projectile less effective. Despite their appearance those attacks must have been physical to some degree, considering they were slowed by water drag. It seemed that this opponent wasn't used to underwater combat. But to be fair, who was? As long as he possessed the Wayfarer's Stone he'd be able to avoid any such attack, and this enemy had displayed no other ranged abilities, so Khaine decided to maintain long distance. Now how to deal with this enemy as quickly as possible?

Red lightning flashed through the water, signifying another use of Khaine's powers. This time he had called forth a network of chains, building on the ones he had previously created. Lacking anchor points several of the chains simply hung from glowing red portals. He would weave a web of steel to trap Saef. From all sides the chains approached like the tightening of a knot, aiming to constrict and immobilize him. If the general didn't have a way to avoid or break through the demonsteel chains, then this battle was as good as over. Without having to worry about the target dodging, Khaine would be able to unleash a devastating amount of firepower.
