What is Perceived

Experienced by anyone who is aware of Jay’s presence in their Catharsis: each character feels small things that have hurt them in the past flashing across their mind, and every time one does, it pricks them.

Charlie's Catharsis

The waiter shakes out her napkin and lays it across her lap before she finishes her question. When she does, he straightens and meets her eye.

"Even if I were to answer that," he says, "how would you know it was true?"

He steps to the adjacent stand and pours her water.

"The only way to find the truth is to seek it yourself."

From his breast pocket, he produces a small notepad. "Something to drink while you decide?"

they were indeed fun! the book club was an open thing so we could read whatever book we wanted and then take turns talking about what we were into afterwards. I was reading Deplorable Conversations with Cats and Other Distractions at the time. the book was... alright. books like the Wayfarers series are much more my lane. the actual book club was fun, though! might go again if I find (more) time.

improv workshop was VERY fun. have you ever heard of that one game where someone says something in improv but then the audience says "change" and they gotta change what just said to something else? that was my favourite part of the workshop!

and D&D!! I'm a Plasmoid >:) a little slime just out to wreak havoc for the heck of it. monster species are so fun!

I think book clubs are nice for broadening your reading horizons, so it's inevitable that you might run into some MEH, books 😅 I've been thinking about joining a book club, but... honestly I have buddy readings and that's kind of the most I can handle concerning reading... Were you able to keep up with the reading?

Yes! I have heard of those types of improves! What kind of story ended up happening at the workshop?

I wish more games allowed playing monster species, but alas... I guess it's hard to implement in some cases 😮‍💨 Are you a veteran DnD player?

Floriano's Catharsis

No one comes.

Floriano has been waiting the right amount of time—longer, even. Around him, cups have already found their owners. Steam rises from mugs at neighboring tables. Someone laughs over a shared pastry. The couple by the window nurse matching drinks, easy and unhurried, as though they have been here for years and the years have been kind.

The counter in front of him remains bare.

Somewhere beneath the murmur of other people's contentment, there is something else. Not music. More like the sound a clock makes when you press your ear to its back: a patient, intricate turning. Gear against gear, wheel coaxing wheel, each tooth catching the next in a sequence too deliberate to be accidental.

On the far wall, past the last of the tables, past the reach of the warm light, shadows shift. Large ones. Slow and even, tracing arcs that repeat, and repeat, and repeat. The shape of them is unmistakable.

The café does not notice. The café has never noticed. It simply runs.

Tick.

Tock.

Tick...

Time is no different.

Charlie's Catharsis

The break room is gone. In its place stands the same establishment Charlie found herself in before, but William is not here with her.

Instead, a waiter materializes at Charlie's elbow. White gloves. Pressed jacket. The kind of waiter who belongs in a restaurant where the chairs cost more than the food.

"Right this way."

He offers no explanation, just moves, and the expectation that she will follow settles naturally as gravity.

Two groups sit nearby, each folded into their own conversations, unhearing of the other. Then: a younger man with brown skin, wavy hair and a goatee, a vest the color of good coffee, sailboat on one arm and a blimp on the other, a steel watch at his wrist—staring at an empty table with the particular expression of someone running out of patience.

The waiter stops at a table set for one. He draws the chair back. Waits.

Once Charlie is seated, he produces a menu and places it in her hands.

The others can perceive her, though I'm not entirely sure which ones they should be. I'll let the other players decide that.

In terms of evening out character interactions I feel like it may be better to either have Charlie with Damien's group (even though it might be easier to join Jay's group) OOOOR we can make a new group since we also have new arrivals!

But just a thought, let me know what you guys think.

long story short

SO long story short, there are people who come and go through this place known as "Catharsis." Some people are aware that they're in a weird place, some people don't, that's up to the players. "Catharsis" presents differently based on the person so there's no guarantee that what one person perceives/experiences is what the other person perceives/experiences (Imagine that there are unlimited dimensions overlapping each other). So far the only way to really experience what another person is experiencing is to share/sympathize strongly with the person or get literally dragged into their Catharsis. There are also a few constants: 1.) There is always a "Keeper/guide/watcher" of sorts for everyone (which is the GM) 2.) the Catharsis usually presents something that is related to what the person is having issues with 3.) once some kind of resolution is reached, that specific Catharsis vanishes, and 4.) Nothing is actually stopping anyone from leaving, thus it isn't uncommon to have "regulars" who come back to their own Catharsis (but this means the issue is unresolved) or create a new Catharsis (which means a new problem came up).

With all that in mind, there are currently two groups at the moment: "Jay" and "Damien's" groups. Jay is trying to vent about a fall out they had with an online group and Damien is in the middle of a PTSD episode which is so strong that it dragged other people who were in the group into his personal Catharsis.

Although these two characters are in the spotlight at the moment, it doesn't mean that the other characters posts don't reveal their own stories. For those parts, I feel like it's better if the players explain the details, cause I can't do them justice!

@silver21 Oh darn it I can't believe I forgot to mention it earlier, but Damien's last post was unsettling in the best way 😀 I especially lliked the visual/artistic touch it!
