Current Going to vote this evening before retreating to the pub to get a head-start on the drinking problem that'll carry me through the next five years.

Is it too early for Oglaf references? No. The answer is no.

Crumbs, and here I was expecting that I'd be looking for people well into next year. Thank you @TruthHurts22 and @AmpharosBoy (also yay Disgaea 4) and @Lightning for showing interest! I'm quietly beavering away on the character sheet and general OOC stuff, so although I'm still angling to start once we've all survived the Dreaded Holiday Season, there might be stuff for folks to fill in before that's over.
Come Along With Me
Likely Being A Game About Friendship, Sword Fighting & Bad Jokes, Based On Adventure Time

Somewhere, the war is over. Somewhere, people reel in shock at the appearance of GOLB, and sigh with relief at his subsequent disappearance. But the world has an occasionally annoying habit of continuing to turn and, sure enough, another day dawns on the Land of Ooo. And another. And another. Days turned into years. Heroes turned into myths.

And yet this isn't about the past. This is about now, where a group of brave new heroes rise up to forge their own legacy. Will it be a legend of heroic sacrifice and valorous deeds? A cautionary tale about the dangers of poor hygiene? A ballad sung by screaming guitar warriors about risking it all for love? It's a mystery.

Whichever way it goes, it starts with would-be heroes answering the call to adventure. Posters have spread across the land, seemingly overnight, which simply read:

HELP. HEROES NEEDED. BREAKFAST KINGDOM.

And you are a hero, aren't you?

Come Along With Me is a game set in the Land of Ooo, from the show Adventure Time. Players will be playing their own original characters in the setting, set at a vaguely indeterminate time following the events of Season Ten. A complete knowledge of the show, comics and other stuff is not required, though characters will need to fit in with the general tone and aesthetic of the show. Watching a few clips of the show, if you're not familiar with it, will probably make it very obvious whether or not your idea will fit.

I'll be asking for people to make characters once I've got enough people to start running it. You're free to spend time between now and then coming up with wild ideas, pitching them and generally getting enthusiastic. I won't stop you. I can't stop you. This game will use a rudimentary mechanics system, whereby I'll roll a dice, argue with myself about what it means, and sort stuff out. Or something. We'll worry about that when we get there.

(...)but this is just a rough pitch to see if anyone would be into the concept! Thanks for checking it out!

It's a rough pitch, but a nice one - I really like the idea of playing misfits and outcasts banding together, as it rather keeps the "punk" element in "steampunk". While the dreaded holiday season is fast approaching, which'll no doubt curtail my ability to spend hours each morning hammering the refresh button on my browser, I'd like to take part - and if I can't take part, I'll happily read along on whatever misadventures those who do play get up to.

yay steampunk
I would like to both register my interest and worry about what it says about me as a person.
Where did you start Roleplaying and how long have you Roleplaying for?

First time was around the kitchen table when I was... ten? Which, courtesy of some depressing calculations, means I've been at this for twenty five years. Although obviously it's not been "a quarter of a century spent doing nothing but roleplaying", because a lot of that time has been spent doing other things (I hear amazing things about sleeping). In terms of online stuff, there's been some misadventures on Roll20, I'd tried a purely fandom based one that didn't quite work out for me (which is why Roleplayer Guild appealed, because there's a little bit of everything, and the format of individual games makes it way easier to keep track of). And then there's good ol' IRC, and then there's some embarrassing years spent on websites like Chathouse and Chatalot.

I have even done, god help me, a fair bit of live action roleplaying in my time.

Somewhere out there, there's pictures of me running away from people dressed as orcs. My biggest fear is that they'll resurface when I'm finally ready to pursue something approximating an "adult career".

If you have any questions about the site, don't hesitate to ask!

Thank you! While I think I'm okay at the moment, I was going to ask - how active, and how necessary, is it to use the site's Discord server to organise stuff? I like the interest check system a lot, but I'm slightly concerned I'll have to dust off Discord to sort out applying to games!
Hello!

Thank goodness the pinned topic on this forum gives you some ideas for what to write about here, because otherwise it'd just be "Hello!" and it wouldn't make for an interesting read. It'd be quick, at least, and something-something-the-soul-of-wit.

Roleplaying career: I usually do tabletop roleplaying games, though I did some play-by-post and chat-based stuff a while ago. Now that I've got more time to spend in front of my desk, I figured it was a good time - or at least, a less bad time - to dip my feet back into play-by-post stuff on forums. Hopefully I'll be a good fit and, once I've got some time as a player under my belt and worked out what's popular, I'll run my own game. Of something not popular, just on general principle.

Roleplaying preferences: I'm one of those "I'll try anything once" sorts. While I generally prefer group games, for the right person and the right plot, I'll do one-on-one things. Long posts? Short posts? I don't mind! As long as there's stuff to work off, as long as it keeps things moving forward, it's all good. Favourite genres? The standard roleplaying fare of fantasy and science fiction are favourites, and I generally enjoy writing things that aren't entirely serious. Dour and grim has a place sometimes, but the stories that make me sit up and pay attention are often ones that don't take themselves too seriously, whether that's in the setting or the characters or just prose full of references to other stuff that make me laugh.

Hobbies and interests: General geek-y things. Reading! Playing various types of games! Staying indoors and shrivelling up into something vaguely-prune shaped when exposed to the sun! I have a weird soft spot for tanks! I spend my free time making dumb bits of music and making, then wearing, silly costumes! It turns out I'm really into exclamation marks!

In short - hello!
