Brek

Location: Passenger Room

However long the trip was to Triple S, Brek had stood at the back of the passenger compartment for the duration of it, nearly unmoving. Every so often his helmeted head would turn to observe the others, his surroundings, or he would cross his arms. He didn't speak to the others in the passenger compartment either. The only response anyone could get out of him, had they tried, was a gruff grunt of acknowledgement or a growl of annoyance. He never even bothered to give them his name. There were more important matters taking up his attention.

For the moment, his main objective was to observe the others. From what Brek could tell initially, the others aboard the ship were giants compared to him, and a few seemed to be less organic than he expected them to be. Other cultures often made his head hurt, when it came to their treatment of inorganic creatures. Mechanical beings or anything semi-mechanical were meant to work mines and crack asteroids-- and that was all. Why were they programming them to have self-awareness on other planets? Some of them even seemed to have complex programming that mimicked organic sentience-- but that was all it was, programming.

To say he took issue with the presence of these "tools" was an understatement. No matter how lifelike they may be, Brek knew they had their place in the lower tier.

The others were subject to his more complex judgments, however. While the Commander was easy to adjust to, seeing as he was simply the one in charge, the others would take time. Brek needed to know where they belonged in the KosRah. Were they above or below him? Were they on the same level? What perks did they receive for their position? How was he to interact with them individually versus as a group? Truth was, Brek's aloof attitude was wholly due to his current discomfort with the chaos meeting groups of new species presented.

The eventual presence of the Commander put Brek at ease, however. Knowing where at least one other being was on the KosRah always settled his nerves. When the Commander spoke, Brek obediently listened. Both of Brek's weapons were bonded to his armor by variable metallic holster plates, letting them rest comfortably on his back so, when it came time to move, he was ready. Wither he was the first or the last off the ship, he didn't much care, but Brek stepped forward as soon as their Commander ordered he do so.

YOU! ARE! SAFE! HERE!
I will not harm you!
@Lady Selune

Shit. I'm going to be honest, sister. I got sort of depressed then distracted. But shit. If the audience is still attending I won't let it die. Just let me grab my goolies and get the coolies growing.

Commence coolie growin'.
I also wish you luck punching your depression in the face.
A difficult task.
I find it funny how Brek loves the cold and hates the warmth while Maya hates the cold and loves the warmth.. Just wait until they go to an ice planet, lol!

Or a planet that isn't freezing.
His gear will be working overtime to cool him.
Anything above 0F is HOT to Brek haha.
I Don't wanna overflow the thing with my posting.
I have a relatively quick response time, so I tend to wait for two or more posts between my own.
Ah. Species age.

See... I left Brek's age at "adult" simply because of that age conundrum, then added in the "20's" interpretation for a more human understanding of his development. His species is a long lived one that measures time by their own system. They develop in something similar to an insect cycle-- egg, larva, a cocoon, adult, venerable, and an optional rebirth.

I didn't want folks to wrap their heads too deeply into it, since I've done it for them haha. Plus, I planned on explaining it IC if the topic ever came up.

UPDATE: The IC has been updated and the new round of seconday plots are now live. Have fun people! Any questions be sure to let me know.

WEEK 05: Last week, we talked about being bad. So this week lets talk about those darn goody-two-shoes types. Why are people drawn to being good? What exactly is it that makes playing a hero appealing, and what makes a good hero? How dark can a hero be while still being good and how light can a hero be before they're unbearable? What are some of the heroic archetypes you look to when designing your defenders of truth, justice and the American Way liberty?

OH LOOK, discussion topic I almost missed!

Begin Utrax Rambling:
SO Heroes! Well. I think I hinted at it in my villain post but, a protagonist is someone's antagonist, no matter how good they are.
I've personally played heroes that went from "snipe out people that are going to prison because they deserve death rather than a prison sentence" to "I literally wouldn't hurt a fly if it were possible."

People are drawn to playing the hero because most narratives focus around heroes-- people are "supposed" to want the good guy to win. A lot of my friends and I have discussed this topic and they seem to like playing good guys because they want to be "on the right side", they want to be a good person, or they simply can't "be that evil."

Personally, my favorite heroes are those who are fighting for what they believe in, remember where they came from, and fight for the "little guy" every now and then. Captain America is my favorite hero, if that gives a better sense of who I like, especially since it wasn't just him gaining super powers that made him a good guy-- he's always been a good person.

That being said, I still lean more toward playing anti-heroes, villains, or people that are able to shift across the spectrum simply because of what they believe in. There's something about conviction and motive that I like any character to have. As long as it's what drives their intentions and actions, they're always A-OK in my book.
