Aoife Lynch
wandering and lost

San Francisco
Day 0
1307
d2100

By all accounts, it was a perfect and bright sunshiney day. The skies were clear and blue for once, the wind wasn't completely overbearing, there were birds chirping and twittering about, even. If Aoife didn't know any better, today would have seemed like it came straight out of a Disney movie.

It still didn't answer anything about how or why she was standing on the deck of the so-aptly named cruise ship Aurora, about to travel hundreds of miles to Alaska of all places. Or, well, she knew how. Somebody at her recent translation project entered her name for a workplace raffle that had one of the prizes being two free tickets to a cruise to Alaska because of some partnership or something. That somebody quickly turned out to be one of the team leads on the project when they began to not-so-subtly hinting who Aoife could take on the cruise with her once it turned out that she had won, along with some really not-so-subtle hints of what they actually wanted to do with her out at sea.

Aoife had wanted to punch them in the face, but considering how that would quickly ruin her professional career, she did the next best non-violent thing and decided to go on the cruise without them. Unfortunately, that still left the question of what to do with the second ticket, considering she had only just arrived in San Francisco only a few months ago and had no one that she could really go with in the city, and it wasn't like she could have just called any of her friends to suddenly take a trip down to San Fran and go on a cruise with her.

So of course, she put up an ad online about her ticket. By the time the deluge of messages came pouring in, it was already too late for her to realize her mistake and back out, and she would be damned if she let that creeper have any way to weasel closer towards her. Luckily there was a light at the end of the tunnel as Aoife managed to connect with a rather really sweet lady who wanted a ticket for her brother, which initially sounded skeevy, but the lady really did seem earnest about it and anybody related to that pillow of sugar couldn't be all that bad right?

Which, you know, still didn't exactly answer the question of why she was there. Then again, deep down she knew the answer to that too, and it was probably because she just wanted to stick it to the creep. Aoife let out a disgusted sigh and trudged her way back down into the cabin. Maybe her da was right and she really did just run on spite and alcohol. Still, perhaps it wouldn't be all bad. The trip would actually give her time to practice her photography for once, instead of putting it off like she always had. And maybe she could make a new friend out of this whole arrangement! The lady online seemed nice, which must mean her brother must be pretty alright too right?

No way to know until Aoife gets to see them in person, she supposed. Hopefully the lady got the extra ticket information alright, though they had exchanged contact info in case anything did happen, and the Aurora wouldn't leave until nine, and Aoife still had all the ticket information on her laptop just in case. Still, when Aoife arrived at her cabin, she left her phone out on the bedside table just in case. She also took the time to look over herself in the mirror to make sure she looked alright.

Long jeans? Aye. Sensible shirt and cardigan? Good enough. Sandals? Eh... hopefully the brother didn't have a foot fetish.

Left with really nothing else to do and having no urge to continue people watching from the deck, Aoife sat down on one of the chairs and took out the German book she had been practicing translating. Gotta keep your skills sharp and all that. Soon, she got into a rhythm, and one particular phrase got her usual humming to start off strong.
there are so many shy awkward beans Bekah has to protecc
No worries no worries, type however you feel like! I just have an obsession with having my posts look aesthetically pleasing to cover up for my writing.

And no worries about breeds! I also just happen to also go a little too deep when I'm researching. But boy, Ji is one carefree cat.
By the by, if anybody does get offended by the nicknames I give your characters do let me know! Rebekah tends to give everybody she meets nicknames because she's terrible with names otherwise, but I'll make sure to have Beks put in the extra effort to remember names if anybody doesn't like them.
Post should be updated for Shy Guys2!

@Rejoyce@OliveYou
Ah! I forgot to check if anyone posted before I did, just wanted to get down what Beks was doing with Minkyu. I'll check over your post @Rejoyce and adjust!

And @DestinyStar hope you hurry home soon!

Suddenly things started happening very fast and all at once. Cute Girl (Jumpy Girl? Hair Girl? Lovestruck with Lover Boy Girl?) practically almost flew out of her dress and into the back, flustered at her accidental open declaration of love towards Lover Boy. Then Rebekah's pastries were complimented by Lover Boy (+10) which she paid back with a confident smile. Unfortunately for Lover Boy, he then proceeded to tease the Shy Bean about his sister (-5), tease the Shy Bean himself (-10), and of course walked straight towards the back where said sister was presumably trying to gather herself despite the very helpful advice of her twin (-50), all of which quickly served to turn the smile into a scowl.

Rebekah glared at Lover Boy sauntering off until he reached the back door with half a mind to drag him back, but then again she barely knew these people and maybe this was just their dynamic? It wasn't a dynamic that Rebekah didn't think she'd enjoy, but maybe these three were all secretly life long pals or something, and this was just a rare moment of things going a bit wrong. But maybe she was also reading too much into it. Either way, she'd probably have plenty of time to sock (Daehyu... Daehyi... DD? Lover Boy) Lover Boy later, after she got hired.

Turning back to the Shy Bean, Rebekah beamed her practiced smile and began carefully placing her various pastries where he indicated. "No coffee for me, I'm perfectly fine and-" she began, just as another yawn teased itself out of her lips. She blinked multiple times, staring at the Shy Bean (she should really call him by his name. She swore she looked it up before coming here. Minky? Minkyu? Minkyute? Min-cutie?) before continuing to plate the table with her confections as if nothing had happened.

As she was plating someone else walked in: a boy with black hair who barely looked like he was a day out of high school (then again they ALL looked like they were all barely a day out of high school, except maybe Lover Boy). The Youngster sounded like he worked here also and if it was even possible, sounded even more awkward than the Shy Bean. More importantly, though, it sounded like this Awkward Sprout was in dire need of desserts for his little sister, which was a perfect opportunity for Rebekah to show off to even more people.

Before she could show off to anybody's cute little sister, however, she had to show off to her potential employer first. "Anyway, I brought the cream puffs and mille-feuille for you and your sister to sample. The macarons are also for you two of course, but I also should have made plenty for you and your staff, plus extras. Oh, and I also have my resume and portfolio of other things I'm pretty proud of here!" She explained, quickly placing one item after the next in front of Min-Cutie, eager and ready to show off everything she had and more.

"And extras should include your sister of course," she said to the Awkward Sprout, smile beaming as she gave him a napkin full of macarons.

After giving Min-Cutie a prepared plate of everything and the Awkward Sprout a splash of spring, she stood silently off to the side, hands clasped in front of her and visibly shaking with excitement, waiting for Min-Cutie or the Sprout to take a bite of anything. "You know, while we're waiting for Cute G-, I mean, your sister."

And posted! Don't worry @OliveYou, I usually only write so much for intro posts. My following ones tend to be shorter, haha.

But hopefully what I wrote pleases everybody!
Rebekah Yeorim Byun
Large and in Charge

Byun Residence
330 AM

Soft music gently streamed through a phone in an otherwise quiet apartment, playing its muted beats and serene tones to the sound of sleep.

And then that abruptly changed with an alarm that crowed itself awake, the phone screen beaming proudly into the cold night of its programmed time of 3:27 AM. A mound of blankets on the same bed the phone was resting on shifted and grumbled as a small hand snaked its way out and dragged the phone back into its lair where moments later the alarm stopped. All was quiet once more until the silence was again broken explosively as Rebekah suddenly shot out of the fleece mountain, finally remembering what day it was.

Adrenaline and melatonin fought with each other inside of Bekah's head as she moved to and fro inside her cramped apartment, throwing clothes, chilled ingredients, and toothpaste all over every flat surface that still had space. The energy didn't stop until she finally stood still enough to finish brushing her tooth which gave her enough time to be fully awake and ready to start her day.

After completing the rest of her daily morning rituals, she finally turned her attention to the variety of ingredients arrayed in a somewhat orderly fashion before her. Excitement glinted in her eyes as her stand mixer smoothly whirred to life, silently praying for forgiveness from her neighbors. After all, today was the day she'd finally start her professional career as a world-class baker.

Café Crème
630 AM

Baking everything had taken her longer than she had expected, but she had done it. Alongside her resumé and portfolio of goods she had done in the past, she was carrying in both hands containers that proudly displayed her combed raspberry mille-feuille, earl grey choux au craquelins, and spring colored strawberry buttercream macarons. Unfortunately sleep still tugged at her eyes and yawned out of her mouth, mornings never having been her best time of day, but she had wanted to make sure everything went right today. Nothing in her mind beat freshly baked treats, and she'd be damned if she wouldn't give her all today.

It had only been a month since she moved into town and she knew could have applied to anywhere she wanted to, especially with her dad's connections, but the entire point of getting out and living by herself was so that she could start being independent of her parents (even if she still begrudgingly accepted their help with the rent). That, and as far as she knew, none of them knew any cosplay cafe owners, and she just had to apply to Café Crème. How could she not after hearing that their theme was not only maids, but catmaids. It was like destiny had called to her, and who was she to deny destiny when it worked in her favor anyway?

Thus, everything had to be perfect. New makeup, new shoes, new cute short red dress to show off the cat stockings she had bought ages ago (her first year of high school, to be precise), she had even brought the cat ear headband that perfectly matched her blonde hair at the moment, though that was safely hidden and tucked away. She didn't want to appear too excited.

It was then she bothered to check the time (after some shenaniganry to make sure nothing in her hands fell) to make sure she wouldn't be late only to find that she was, perhaps, a little too early. If she remembered correctly, the cafe wouldn't open properly for maybe another half hour or so, but she was practically already at their doorstep when she checked.

And yet what did she find when she arrived but someone just walking into the cafe in front of her, easy as can be, allowing the sounds of somebody giving a good ribbing to another person inside, in Korean no less if her ears heard correctly. Truly were all the gods telling her that today would be her day. The Korean also shouldn't have been too much of a surprise considering she read that the owners were part Korean like her, and the boy Rebekah sneaked quietly behind in wait for the perfect dramatic moment to pop out certainly looked very Korean.

Once lover boy finished speaking, Rebekah stuck her head out from behind him and said in Korean, "Well, I for one, love your sense of timing," the words navigating easily through her mouth.

She then stepped out from behind her new conveniently tall acquaintance (being short had some benefits), making sure her lovely creations were out in full display in their containers. She took a moment to view the scene before her, noting with great satisfaction how endearing the inside was and how utterly adorable the girl in the blue outfit was. The Shy little Bean that Cute Girl was fawning over was also likely her brother, which likely made them the twins that owned the cafe. She spared a glance to look at Lover Boy, just enough to see what he looked like before swiftly returning her attention back to the twins. Ultimately, Beks was here for one thing and one thing only.

"Helloo~," she said, smoothly switching back to English. "My name is Rebekah Byun, and I'm here to apply for a job."
