People feel more consoled when they have "conversations" with relatives. I myself think that, unnecessary as it is, it's still okay to do it. As far as I remember, there's nothing in the Bible against that in particular (as long as you don't pray to them).
In fact, remember that God knows our heart and all our desires and groaning. Yet he asks us to speak with him anyway. Of course, it's a different matter with dead relatives, but the same principle applies--just because someone knows something doesn't mean they won't listen to you talk about it, especially if it helps your mind on the matter.
