It can, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the view that "everything is being ruined" is wrong. Logically, if everything is being ruined, it doesn't matter too much if things are a little worse.

I just bring characters in when I feel like bringing them in, because they would just come and go as they pleased, not for the narrative. I work in character development when it fits. Not to say your method is wrong; I'm just giving my method.

Oh, I see. I'm not sure how to fix that problem.
A lot of the characters I enjoy end up finding themselves left out of my own stuff pretty much all the time. Don't know how I feel about it.
