This sounds like the ideal setting for my White Interstellar Corporations faction. Although I don't have much experience writing cyberpunk stories with virtual worlds and information warfare.
@UnfortunatelyI specifically meant THE Post-WW3 game hosted here:

Might also help you to gather a few ideas.
The tech assumptions on the reboot were my contribution to the GM. If you want I can think of a similar list for your game.
Hello, I am also interested in this RP. Middle ages, right?
Since my nation will have slight technological aptitude it's important to know where in the Middle Ages are we?
Or an easier question: Are there knights wearing full plate armors?
If yes, you won't have a problem with my nation, either.

EDIT: I am not really fan of using dice rolls to decide things in forum RPs. Usually common sense, fairness and creativity are more than apt to decide things, IMO.
And since this game has a limited number of players I say I resign my post for now. I may have my plate full with other RPs anyways.
Well, I'm back and somewhat caught up with the RP.
The only question of mine is: Are we still willing to continue this game?
Basically this is like the post WW3 game except it also has some focus on space?
Count me interested.
Although I'd suggest a slightly further back date (so people can have more freedom from present day politics) and a few guidelines on tech level to avoid confusions.
Issues like eugenics and transhumanism could be also potential interesting topics here.
Lastly you mention the potential of FTL but what about people living in space or in colonies in other planets?
A Mars colony of sorts could be a fun addition, for example. Colonies have the obvious drawback of limited habitability and usually require trade with terrestrial countries to even feed their people but being in space is fun.
@Willy Vereb

Is this still happening?
Excuse me for my absence, yeah, of course it is going to happen.
I'll create the OOC thread soon but before that I need to tell a few things about the game.

1.) Map
As you see there are 20x10 squares. Each square has the area of 2500x2500 km
In actual pixels (which is unfortunately not reflected in the uploaded pics, is there a free image uploader which allows big pictures?) the square is 250x250 pixels so a single pixel square is 100 km^2.
In short a pixel on the pic is the size of an average city.
10x10 pixels would be a small country.
Depending on how powerful your faction is your starting area may be larger or smaller than that.

2.) Game
To prevent players from getting too ahead of others I'll use a turn system. You can interact with people, send out diplomats or fight out battles but when something big happens it'd be capped so everyone can react before we move on.
Each turn would usually encompass a month of time passing, unless we agree on a different timeframe.

Alright, I give you gus an example.

The Galactic Empire Expedition Force led by Darth Vader had arrived to Ardessen. They set up a small colony somewhere in A1. Since they are relatively powerful (albeit the most over the top parts being toned down) they have only a minor force.
They can send diplomats to the 3 neighboring factions:
Lizardmen
Soviets
Noldor Elves

The elves and communists respond favorably but the Lizardmen kill the Empire's ambassador. To punish them the Empire mobilizes an infantry force to punish the lizards.
Except the stormtroopers walk in the swamps and ambushed by lizardmen who have enhanced strength and stone spears made of a strange kind of rock. The battle ends in failure.

all of this would happen within the same turn.
Following this the Empire starts working on quick means to allow their soldiers to better fight in the swamps (research orders).
The Empire also sent a military force to A2. Due to the rough terrain and limited number of vehicles this army would only arrive in the next turn.
Lastly you begin working on to replace your lost soldiers. Just like making settlements, this would be accelerated during the RP.
Usually you can replace 10% of your starting army under a single turn. This could be raised by researching techs or finishing other developments to your faction.

Oh well, maybe it isn't so convincing if I just describe it. Tommorrow I post the IC and also give you guys a live example what I mean.
Similarly I will respond to the other players tomorrow.
Good night!

Duly noted. Post edited.

Provided they have a steady supply of Facehugger/Chestburster hosts. While we're on the subject of hosts, I looked up Xenomorphs on Xenopedia in case I forgot anything. It reminded me that a Facehugger attached to a Predator, the resulting 'Predalien' was much stronger than human-born Xenomorphs. Would that matter on a strategic scale?

A good fisherman is a patient fisherman. Others will bite soon enough
I already considered Predaliens and such ideas as part of your traits with using other creatures for incubation.
Actually, that would be probably your only means to "advance" or become stronger.

You guys still looking for more people?

Cause I am interested in this.
I can handle about 3 players at leisure. For any more I would be glad to have co-GMs to volunteer.
I'm preferably looking for players who are experienced with NRPs and also know various fictions.
If a GM isn't familiar with the media and the said faction then guiding the player may be more difficult.

Faction Name: The Xenomorphs
Origin: The Aliens Series
Faction Type: Hive mind
Faction Rank: No idea
Color: Black
Assigned GM: No idea
Starting Area:
R2 (I'm not good at photo-editing)

Faction Introduction:
The Xenomorphs are predatory creatures with no higher goals than the propagation of their species and the destruction of any life that could pose a threat to them. After an intense battle at an alien temple between the Xenomorphs, the Colonial Marines, and the Predators, some crazy shit went down and a rip in the space-time continuum opened up. The Xenomorph queen got chucked through this rip by a Colonial Marine. Upon arriving on Ardessen, the Xenomorph queen and the Xenomorphs that followed their queen through the rip quickly set about building a new hive and infesting The Brave New World.

Faction Strengths:

  • Possesses incredible speed, agility, and strength.
  • Able to walk on ceilings and walls.
  • Almost invisible in the dark.
  • Doesn't require food.
  • Uses their enemies as incubators.

Faction Weaknesses:

  • Weak against fire.
  • Fall into disarray without a queen.
  • They don't do diplomacy (For the most part).
Physical characteristics usually aren't part of the traits. Think of something which matters on the strategic scale.
No need for food and using other animals as incubators are that. Maybe add that they are traversing mostly underground and are difficult to find. Maybe we can also add tht Xenomorphs spawn extremely quick.

Weaknesses of the Xenomorphs are their dependence on the Queen, lack of communication with other species and the fact they seemingly aren't intelligent enough to use tools.

The last two are actually quite heavy drawbacks here. Diplomacy with other factions and tech sharing would be thing. You're missing most of that.

Tentaively interested. Mind if I use Yamatai/Ryukyu?
I don't mind if you use old RP factions. Which version, though?
Depending on details and their level of technology it may change a few things.

Anyways, it shocks me how little response this thread garnered so far.
Is there something wrong?
Do people hate using fandom/known fictions in RPs? It can't be that, given their popularity in other sections.

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to this brave new world!

You play as a certain faction which either intentionally or by accident were taken to the world of Ardessen, a planet from another dimension! It does not take long to realize you are not alone, Ardessen is an amazing mess populated by people from many different worlds. Marines shooting at fire-breathing demons, jet fighters chasing dragons, Jedi facing off against the Dark Lord. Ardessen is the kind of world where any of these could happen. You have to be ready for anything! Are you prepared to explore the world of Ardessen? Do you have what it takes to bring order into this chaotic world? Let's find out!

You choose a faction (preferably an existing one from media, say elves from the Lord of the Rings), fill out a few details and then pick a starting place on the map. Depending on how powerful your faction is your starting conditions can change for the sake of balance. The game's topic is fantasy but you aren't limited to only settings with bows and plate armors. You can choose a modern or even futuristic faction so long they are a bit fantastical (Star Wars and Warhammer 40,000 definitely qualifies). You can also invent a faction on your own but this only complicates things to you because you need much more details. I also ask you for info if I am not familiar with a faction (or I need to clarify something in general).
After you made the submission and either I or any of the co-GMs accepted it then you can make your introduction in the IC. Your assigned GM will then control the NPC factions surrounding you and usually can expect a short battle as a "warm up". To avoid players getting ahead of others I'll be using turns. You can interact with nearby factions or fight wars in however many posts it takes but strategic events happen globally. A turn is usually equals 1 month of time but we can discuss a different timeframe if you want. With the "strategic turn" your population can grow, your army can travel considerable distances, your faction develop new technologies or you can produce new weapons and other goods.

That's about it for now. Many elements are still work in progress and may be subject to change. I am listening to any good suggestions.
Anyways, first I'm checking how many players are up for this kind of game.
Of course I am also looking for potential co-GMs. I can handle about 3 players so for any more I need assistance.
