Bio

I have been writing since I was 17 years old. I am now 33 and I've been enjoying life. Writing is a passion just as reading is. My favorite genre is murder/mystery, but I love fantasy and I love action/adventure. I have published a collection of short stories that can be found on Apple Books, Barnes and Nobles, and Kindle. I have a trilogy in the works, the first part scheduled for release this year.

Fabulous. If there are any questions I haven't answered let me know. All the characters DO NOT have to start from the same Sect, and yes you can make your own.
Secret Base - A Visit Long Overdue
(Titus & Yuri)

Yuri took his time as he strolled towards the last known location of his old friend, Titus, the man behind the Grizzly-1 and other mechanized beasts of war. It was a new day, and the air was faintly sweet. His long hair blew in the wind as his white hair clashed against the deep dark black and white of the garbs he was wearing. Accented with shimmery crimson red here and there, with stitchwork of a phoenix along the front and lower left of the outfit, there was no mistaking that Yuri's outfits cost money and yet he wore them and not the other way around. His earrings were luna moth that dangled at just the right length. In one hand he held two cups of coffee perfectly balanced and in the other hand his grip on his fighting fan was tight and he flapped the beautiful fan to help regulate his fluctuating temperature.

Yuri stood in front of the hidden doors, well hidden to humans. He's only found the location because he visited Titus on sporadic occasions. Some of Titus senior staff knew of him, but younger newer staff would not, and therein was the issue. If he went barging in, they would try to shoot him, try to disarm him as best they could, but given who he was and given what Titus knew about him, he would have a lot of explaining to do and apologizing. Still, it was always fun to ruffle a few feathers to make sure Titus's men were up to date in their training. There was a soft voice that kept asking for identification and was rather polite in its questioning, but Yuri tucked the fan into his waistband and touched the door softly.

His energy pulsed into the electronic device and pried the door open against the groaning gears that tried to keep it locked. There was enough space for him to briskly walk in, and he did with such elegance and poise. Each step he ensured that the coffee was protected, and with each step, he knew that security personnel would be working on a solution to apprehend the intruder. That was only the first entry, the main entry point to the facility was still a short distance and as he approached, he could feel the presence of lifeforms behind the door. Once again, the door strained against his power as it gave in and opened to reveal the numerous men with their weapons drawn and pointing at him.

"Well hello to you all as well. I knew you'd be happy to see me," Yuri said waving politely at the men half of which would shoot if he made one wrong move. When Titus' voice filled the area over the intercom, Yuri placed a hand to his lips and laughed.

"Ahhh, but where is the fun in that. I will see you shortly," Yuri replied.

The newer recruits couldn't help but ask who he was to the senior staff and they all shook their heads as they watched the elegant man move through the entryway further into the facility.

"That's Yuri. He tends to do this from time to time, no worries, you'll get to know him. He's really nice, and wicked on the battlefield. That fan you saw on his waistband, yea it's no ordinary fan. It transforms into this amazing blade that can cleave through metal. You'll have to ask him to show you next time," one of the senior staff said almost saddened that Yuri didn't have the time to stop and chat with them.

Within minutes, Yuri was in Titus' office, walking in with much respect to the man who was sitting behind a desk on which was a pile of paperwork.

"You look busy old friend," Yuri said moving to place the coffee in front of Titus, "and I figured you could use a cup of coffee. It's been nearly a week since Grizzly-1 was on the battlefield. Have all the repairs been successful? More importantly, are you getting enough sleep with all of that on your desk?"
Love his name.

Imma just say I love the name. I see it's a WIP, GM do you have anything to say?
Black Hill Top - Black Well Estate: Meeting Mr. Anatole

Yuri had grabbed a few items of clothing and his necessary items and strapped the backpack containing it all to his back. They all left for Black Hill Top with the school librarian leading them. It was interesting how much she seemed to want to protect them even though most children liked to obey their parents. Perhaps she saw the outright ridiculousness of her mother's plan that she saw fit to ensure none fell victim to the Supreme's deadly desires. Still, Yuri would miss her. She gave him tons of wisdom and helped him learn how to do most of what he could do, and with the help of his aunts and self-studying, he'd come a very long way from the innocent little 10-year-old who had no idea what magic was or how to use it.

They'd arrived at Black Hill Top and Yuri's senses screamed at him. He could sense spirits nearby, malevolent spirits watching and waiting. When he looked into the darkness he could see red eyes peer back at him. There were stories about Black Hill Top that would cause the hairs on the back of any magical being's neck to rise. Whether or not those stories were true remained to be discovered. As they continue on they came upon the Black Well Estate. Yuri's eyes shifted to the top window. He felt something, but his eyes darted to the surrounding woods and his eyes stayed there as everyone seemed to enter the estate and speak with Mr. Anatole. He was still standing there, the rest of the group inside when his trance was broken by the sound of howling.

Yuri turned to see Lithy and Remy speaking to Mr. Anatole. Slowly he approached and lowered his head to show respect.

"Mr. Anatole," he said as the old man ushered him in. "Thank you for providing shelter to all of us. We will try not to get in the way."

Yuri approached Remy and looked him in the eyes.

"I don't like the feeling outside. It's very, I don't know, odd I guess." Yuri didn't want to cause Remy to panic so he brushed off his own worry as if it didn't matter, "but I'm just being paranoid. I need to find somewhere to take a shower. Walking through the woods is not ideal. You wanna join me?"

Yuri moved very close to Remy and accentuated each word of the invitation to join him in finding a shower. Teasing Remy was Yuri's way of making sure he was okay with everything. He hoped that if he wasn't, he would talk to him.
I'll have my post up Saturday. I've been relaxing and trying to make it through my day
I need about 4 or 5 more people to join. I think this is my first story on here.
@IceHeartWhat in the world is that creation? Where is the creature heading this time? I need a visual lol.

@SearatI'm gonna have Yuri visit Titus again for words of wisdom.

Gotcha! So, for the sake of preserving the atmosphere and "genre feel," should characters generally stick to Chinese names, general Asian themes, and eastern styles of martial arts? I've actually got a pre-made one that I think would be perfect for this, but he has a bit more of the Korean (manhwa) flavor to him.

Also, can I suggest this link for any players unfamiliar with this genre or the various terms that are used?

I won't limit a person to the name of their character. As stated, I will allow other martial arts aside from those in Ancient China to exist.
Potentially interested, but I have a couple of questions:

When you say Cultivation, do you have some kind of system of Ranks, Layers, and so forth laid out? Like, do characters start out in the "Realm of Qi Condensation" until they complete some specific technique or training, then "break through" to the next Layer, and so on? Or is there more focus on the characters' physical martial arts abilities, with less flashy magic/energy abilities?

You said the setting is a less technologically advanced world. So do you mean something like a fantasy version of Ancient China--lots of mountains, rivers, mysterious bamboo forests--or did you mean something more along the lines of a Bruce Lee movie setting, or an anachronistic world (something like Naruto's early city designs, semi-steampunk with lots of traditional influence)?

I've tried the whole rank, layer, etc system and it gets a little too messy throughout the story. I will; however, incorporate a sort of "Skill Level" in which there will only be a certain number allowed in each skill level to make sure no one tries anything crazy. The focus is on the character's physical martial arts abilities as well as how they can weave and work with their magic.

No steampunk, more ancient China, the world before technology.
There's this idea I've let sit on the shelf for some time now and feel it's time to see if anyone on this site is interested in joining and seeing it through till the end.

Basically, you'll be choosing your side. Either you're a Cultivator for good, or you're a warrior for evil. Yes, your character will have special abilities. No, your character will not be godly and able to do all. I am looking for players who love character development and I absolutely encourage romance and character relationships to form. With that said, please be mindful of your character's age if you choose to embark on that journey.

Now, the story is set in the world of Wuxia, which is basically the fantasy world of Chinese Martial Arts; however, I will allow other fighting arts to be displayed within the story. Your character is a disciple of their clan or "Sect" as they are called in this story. If you have seen The Untamed, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and Seven Swords then you know of what this world is like.

Your character is either tasked with maintaining the light that gives life to this world or working to spread darkness to contaminate this world.

So what about the world? Well, we are on Earth, an alternate reality if you will. There are no TVs, no cell phones, no cars. Need to get somewhere? You either walk or ride horses. Lovely right?

I know you're probably wondering, "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS ABOUT?"

So, basically, an evil sorcerer or whatever has managed to steal a gem. This gem if in the wrong hands will spell disaster for the world. The sorcerer wants to raise an army of undead and break the barrier between realms to conquer all realms of existence. Your character will either help them do this or stop them from doing this.

I need at least 10 players, but we can make it with a smaller group. Yes, someone will portray the "Guide" to keep the good guys in line and someone will portray the "sorcerer" and both will be in direct communication with me so as not to go overboard.

Oh and if you don't know who I am, I go by many names, but for the sake of not wasting any more of your time, I am James aka LaShaunt, aka Winds of Fate. It's a pleasure and I hope you all are interested and ready to have fun.
