Huh, well that was a lot quicker than I thought.
Seems like we've already managed to attract 3/4 people for this, how promising. ^^
Technically we could start doing all the groundwork right now, but let's see if some more folks are interested before we begin. After all, in the event that all you current interestees join, we sill have room for one more person before we're completely full.

On that note thogh, do any of you have any questions or ideas you'd like to share?
Wonderful, already got half of the peop,le we need then. :)

Hello, I've been meaning to get back into roleplaying for a while now, but haven't really gotten around to it. But now, with the second (technically third) season of DanMachi airing and no immediate plans, obligations or other real world interferences (other than work) standing in my way, I thought now would be as good a time as any to try my hand at this again.

As you probably guessed from the title, this will be a fanmade story about the DanMachi universe (English title: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?), so if you want to participate you should likely be familiar with that series and the setting. I'm not going to turn away people who aren't familiar with, but it'll be easier for everyone involved if you are, obviously.

Now, I'm going to give a quick rundown of what I've planned so far and how things will largely work. Of course, I'm open to ideas and suggestions from anyone interested, to help make the roleplay more enjoyable. So please, if you have any comments other than signing up out of interest, please leave them below. I'd be happy to hear what potential joiners have to say.

Idea Run-Down

1.) The Caat.
As you can see from the tags, this will be a story with a small cast. I don't want more than 4 players, max, besides myself in this roleplay.

The reason for this is simple, I want a small, easy to run and tightly knit group who will grow and develop meaningful bonds and relationships through the story.

1.1.) Characters:
In my old roleplays, I usually allowed people to make as amny toons as they wanted. Which led to gross over-satuation. To prevent this, in this story you will only be allowed to have a single character at any given time.

Now, you may swap or change or create a new character, bt to do so you will either have to retire, kill off or turn your current character into an NPC. Please do try to stick with the same character though, unless you really, really end up not liking it.

Also be aware that unless you have special permission or a dang good reason, your character will always tart at Level 1. More on this later, but for now just keep that in mind.

1.2.) Playable Races:
With the obvious exceptions of playing a God/Goddess, Spirit or Xenos, all the other races in the DanMachi-verse are open to be chosen from. Amazoness, Chienthrope, Cat-People, Bunny-Humans, Werewolf, Weretiger, Pallum, Human, Half-Elf, Half-Dwarf, Renard, Dark Elf, Dwarf, Elf, High-Elf, all of tem are available.

Certain races may start with some perks or advantages, but you'll be informed about this in the actual roleplay itself, since it's not really relevant right now.

1.4.) Rank Up, Skills and Spells:
First of all, nobody has Plot Armor in tis story. There will be no Bell Cranel-esque freebies, no free grimoires to learn magic, no 200 million valis weaponry, no level-up faster passives from out of nowhere.

While there will be tweaking to how fast you level up regularly, since we don't want you good folks spending a year in-story just to go from level 1 to level 2, what you do in the story and how you do things will effect what you get.

This means that if you want lots of money, you'll have to go to the dungeon and get Exilia and Rare Drops. If you want a certain Development Skill (more on this later), you'll have to achieve its criteria before your Rank Up. Don't worry, I'm not gonna be a hard-ass about minimum requirements or extreme details, but you will need to put in effort regardless.

The two skill trees, Basic Skills and Development Skills, function failry similar to the canon universe. To get Development Skills, you must meet certain requirements prior to Rank Up, while Basic Skills can be obtained at almost any time depending on situation, action and/or hidden potential. However, unlike the canon universe, your character in this rolaplay will always get a Development Skill upon Rank Up. In some cases you might get multiple, but you can only ever choose one at a time.

To learn magic and spells, you'll either have to save up money for a Grimoire (ridiculously expensive), pay a tutor or unlock it through some event or other interpersonal mumbojumbo. Again, unless you have a really good reason, nobody is likely to start off with any magic. And just like with the canon universe, there will be limits to your character's Spell Slots, meaning you can't have an infinite amount of random spells. Magic in DanMachi is really strong after all.

1.5.) Our Familia:
Since you're only allowed to make a single character, and that character cannot be a God or Goddess, it stands to reason that you cannot create your own, custom Familia. Sorry, but you'll hikely have to join one that I specify. Again, this is to keep things simple and cohesive, as it'd be a nightmare to manage if everyone joined different Familia.

This being said, when the story starts out, you're free to do what Bell did and walk around, applying to any and every Familia you come across. You'll get tossed out on your ass, most likely, but you're free to try - if only for the sake of immersion!

2.) The Setting:
This story will take place in Orario, several decades prior to that of the story involving the Hestia-Familia. This means that other than some Gods and Goddesses, most of the current canon cast will not be present at all. I purposefully chose to do this to avoid having to worry about too many established characters making an appearance in the story.

In addition, this also means that the furthest anyone has gone in the Dungeon is also slightly different, as nobody will have gotten down to the 59th floor yet. Who knows, maybe you will be the heroes to do so?

Obviously, certain structures and Homes in Orario will also be different, but those details can be discussed later when they become relevant.

2.1.) Story Progression:
This roleplay will be a semi-open world type. Your character is free to go and do whatever they want, whenever they want - but to progress the actual, main story, there will be certain objectives or events that will be need to be cleared. You are of course free to tackle these story elements at any pace you like, so the story can go on for a really long time if you neglect to do them, or be over really fast if you decide to focus on them. It's entirely up to you guys.

Of course, there will be side-plots, guild quests and other fluff to pad the story and world, but none of it wil be mandatory or required in order to complete the roleplay.

Currently, I have set the story to consist of 7 chapters, with 2 of them being the prologue and epilogue. Each chapter has it's own main goal and focal event, so hopefully no two chapters will feel repetitive or stale.

2.2.) Activity:
From personal experience, I've learned that forcing people to post too often will scare them off, but leting them post at whatever pace they choose themselves will lead to slow-down and eventual story death. To keep this from happening, I've opted to choose a hopefully happy medium.

I want anyone who joins to post once a week, at least. This means you'll have 168 hours to post something in the Causal-quality. I don't believe this is too much to ask to be honest, and naturally I'll be happy if people post more ofthen than this.

But, to ensure that the story moves forward, this is the minimum. If you join and fail to meet this requirement, your character will be turned into an NPC and the roleplay will be opened to new applicants who will take your spot.

Excuses like: "I have writer's block", "I was out of town", "I had midterms", "I've been pulling all-nighters" and/or other similar explantions won't fly with me. If you're having issues posting, send me a PM and tell me ahead of time wbout what's wrong, not after your time-limit is up.

2.3.) Co-GMs:
In certain stories and roleplays, it's handy to have a second pair of moderatinga and administrative hands. However, seeing as how this story will have such a small cast I don't really feel the need to have a Co-GM on stand-by. Naturally, I'll be happy to see people taking initative, asking me questions, setting up their own little ideas and mini-plots and what else have you, but it's very unlikely that I'll nominate anyone as a Co-GM.

Unless something happens to me myself that prevents me from actually mastering the roleplay, there shouldn't be a need for it.

3.) How to get Started:
Simple, you make a character. I'll post a Character Sheet template, you fill it out and then I'll go over it and be all judgemental about it. This will not be a first-come, first-serve kind of recruitment. Instead, I'll try my best to pick out people who are diverse, universe-fitting and has put in noticeable effort and consideration. I don't want people making self-inserts so they can play themselves in the DanMachi universe, I want to see fun or interesting character ideas and people that actually fit the world we'll be playing in.

Once your sheet is accepted you'll be allowed to post in the In-Character thread, where you'll make your introductionary post and then, we'll go from there and see where the story takes us.

3.1.) Talking and Collab-Postss
I personally love Collab Posts, posts when two or more people work together to create a single, big post. These are great for things like holding a conversation or dealing with a hectic, large and troublesome situation. Rather than one person posting a single post with two lines of dialogue and then waiting for the correct person to respond in a similar way, Collab Posts allows for a contineous, uninterupted discussion that feels a lot more natural and takes up way less post-space. It also prevents people from getting conversation-locked.

So, to anyone who wants to join: Yes, I encourage collab posts!

3.3.) GM Character?:
Yes, I'll have multiple characters unlike you plebs. However, unlike your characters, mine are all considered NPCs and I won't be focusing on any single one of them, unless the story or situation requires me to. My characters exist to further the story and help ypur characters along, none of them will be as major to the story as your own characters.

3.4.) What can we play as?:
I've currently made it so people can play one of several "classes". What these classes do however, is just give you a little specific bonus or perk in a certain department. I can add more classes or remove the system altogether, depending on what people want.

For now, the classes and their bonuses are:

- Adventurer: Gets a bonus to combat-related things.
- Supporter: Gets a bonus to carrying capacity and haggling.
- Mage: Magic bonuses and can create certain items.
- Smith: Can create and repair armor and weapon.
- Alchemist: Can make potions, medicines, bombs and similar things.

3.5.) 200 Million Valis!?:
Money will play a part in the story. There are two wallets, one for your personal use and one for the entire Familia's use. It'll be up to you yourselves to decide how much money you want to donate to the Familia's coffers and how much you keep to yourself. Remember that things like weapons, armor, potions, alcoholic beverages and supplies all cost money. Whenver you buy something in story, I will notify you of the cost, after which you'll need to adjust your wallet yourself.

This part of the roleplay is based on trust, so I'm hoping nobody will be a dirty cheat and not edit their wallets when so informed... After all, if we're not going to use money, what's the point of going to the dungeon other than to show off how good we are at killing things?

3.6.) Realism vs. Fun:
I personally am of the opinion that it's always more important to have fun and enjoy a game, rather than trying to make it as hardcore and gritty-real as possible. That being said, having no realism in a story makes for a poor story overall.

For this reason, there are a few things you'll need to keep in mind. These rules can be changed or edited if you want, but I'd like to have some "musts" around.

- Your character should eat at least once a day. (Buy food, you ninnies!)
- Your character should drink (Water) once a day. (Dehydration sucks)
- Your character should sleep 4 hours a day. (At least!)
- Suffering from injuries, poison, disease or other pains should have some impact on your performance. (Can't swing a greatsword if your elbow's broken...)

4.) Too many rules:
As I've said, this is a work-in-progress and is by no means the finished, final product of what the roleplay will look like. If you have ideas of your own, issues with existing content or suggestions on how to improve something, please, by all means leave your comments here. I want this story to be fun for everyone who takes part in it, so I'll do my best to be open to what people want.

4.1.) When does it start:
Apparently sooner than I thought. The official thread is already up. You can visit it here.

4.2.) F.A.Q:
Nobody's asked anything yet, so there's nothing here. Sorry. :<

For now, that's all from me. If your interested, please let me know!
Happy New Year, from me to you all!
I hope you'll conintue this and are still enjoying yourselves. :)
As for me, my hiatus continues, so good luck and thanks for keeping my baby alive~ <3

After all, Activity = RP longevity! :3
Ger-darnit... RPG derp'd and made me double-post... T~T
Aww, thanks guys. :')

I'll be sure tohand over all the ideas and plot-thingymydoobers that I had planned and set-in-motion!
Err... But, which one of you should I send it to? o_o
Guess you'll hafta pick a back-up GM...! :o
Uhm... I know I said I'd post in the IC this weekend, but instead I bring you some incredibly unpleasant news that will probably upset a great deal of you, and earn me some well-deserved flak. But instead of stalling and building up tension, let's get right to it:
To put it very bluntly, I'm going to be taking a break from RPG for an indefinite period of time. This is not a decision I've made lightly, but rather one that I've been debating and thinking about for the past month or so. The reason for this decision are multiple, the major ones are that my job keeps tiring me out each and every day, leaving weekends the only days I can really have any 'me'-time, and my passion and enjoyment of roleplay - as a whole - have significantly decreased over the past half a year of so.

The past few roleplays I've done on the Guild have eventually turned into feeling like chores, where I'm obligated to read up on and respond to them. And, as I have said to many others, I have a philosophy about hobbies that goes: If your hobby turns into a chore and something you don't look forward to doing, then you should probably take a step back and away from it, for a while. And, following my own advice, that is exactly what I intend to do.

Now I do want to note that this decision is not anyone else's fault but my own, and it certainly isn't influenced by you guysd. Rather, I'd say this RP has been the main reason why I actually stuck around for longer than I intended, as I think and feel that you boys and girls have been a tremendously enjoyable group to roleplay with. Your patience and dedication to the story, even though it's been slow-moving and at times unintuitive and, let's face it, poorly plotted has really amazed me. Your character are all also wonderful and I can actually say that I feel like I've been reading a decently written DAL spin-off with nice characters and design so far. Kudos, hold your heads up high!

It is - however - also because of this that I'',m withdrawing, because I feel like it's unfair to you guys, who put so much effort and energy into this story to sit around and wait for me, who is pulling my feet and sighting in exhaustion every time I come to visit the Guild and chjeck if there are updates or new posts. I feel like an anchor and a time-sink that's holding people and stories back, and that's not a good thing.

So, in conclusion, as of today; November 9th 2014, I'm officially taking a hiatus from RPG and this in turn means I'm resigning from my post as GM of this roleplay.
Do not despair though, because I'm not a complete douche, even if I'm a pretty bg one, I'mm not just going to leave you folks high and dry.

I'll be sticking aroud and popping in to check this thread, and if you guys want to continue the story without my "guidance", then please - by all means - feel free to do so! Just shoot me a PM and I will gladly give you all the information on what I had planned and plotted for the story so far, and that way you guys can keep on goiung if you want to, even if I'm no longer around to act as the narrator.

Again, I apologize and feel sincerely bad for doing this, but it's something I feel that I have to do for now. I want to be able to to work in the weeks without feeling guilty for being tired from, well, work and not posting on the Guild and I want to be able to spend my weekends without having to think of things and stuff that I can, should or otherwise might be posting from the point that I wake up in the morning until the wee hours before I go to bed.

So, yes... I'm very, very sorry and hope you can all understad. I know this is very sudden (for you guys) and I haven't really been mentioned it before. *bows head in shame*
Again though, if you guys want to continue the story, just hit me up and I'll help and give you what I got, so as to keep this story going. Because hoestly, this is an RP I feel that I can be proud of, not to mention it's my second longest-running roleplay on RPG ever, in all the 4 years I've spent here.

But for now, I will have to bid you a shameful goodbye and await your replies.
Post coming this weekend.
