Appearance - Emilia is of below average height, standing at approximately 5'1, with dark-brown hair and eyes. She has a tongue piercing and a shoulder tattoo on her left shoulder reading "Non Omnis Moriar" which from Latin translates into "Not All Of Me Shall Die". Her wardrobe primarily consists of items with neutral tones and the occasional flashy piece, therefore you will more than likely see her in jeans and a plain t-shirt most of the time. Since Emilia is able to work from home more often than not, except when she has to stop by the hospital for a quick consultation or meeting, she doesn't own any business suits. Instead, she has a small collection of dresses, most of them red or black.
In the rare occasion that Nathan comes out, she will wear looser-fitting jeans and a plain, black t-shirt. Her hair will be tied back into a ponytail and her posture will be a bit more reserved. Likewise, her voice will sound deeper with a slight accent.
Strengths - Since she's a medical writer, Emilia has vast knowledge of the medical field. That's not to say she uses such knowledge to practice, but rather, she's able to answer questions nearly as easily as a doctor. She loves reading all the information she's exposed to and that makes it a little bit easier to remember such data in bulk. Emilia specializes in illness and disease research, however, she's co-authored pharmacology reports as well as some pediatric papers.
Weaknesses - Her condition, DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder). Emilia's alternate personality is Nathaniel James, the 33-year-old man depicted above. Whenever he takes over, Emilia will not have any recollection over what occurred, and sometimes that leads the young woman to find herself in awkward situations with no idea as to how she got there.
Personality - Emilia is generally a cheerful person, often smiling and joking around when she's surrounded by friends. Nathan, on the the other hand, is not as approachable. He prefers to be left alone and often makes an active attempt to avoid any form of interaction. Emilia is the type of person who enjoys having a quiet night at home while drinking a bottle of wine just as well as going out with a group of people. Her mentality is simply to enjoy life, and for her, that involves doing whatever she feels like at the moment.
With that said, Emilia is a bit shy and reserved around strangers. It takes a bit more work than usual to gain her trust, but she's learned that she hasn't had the need to get rid of toxic people in her life as often as others, and her sense of safety hasn't been completely compromised just yet.
Family - None.
Backstory - Emilia was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Unfortunately, her childhood was anything but memorable. She often suffered from abuse at the hands of her mother and stepfather, who saw Emilia as a nuisance instead of a child whose only expectation was to be loved. This went on for a couple of years until the authorities finally received a report of what was going on in Emilia's home thanks to a concerned neighbor.
As soon as her mom and stepfather were taken away, Emilia was placed under the care of a welcoming family. But the damage had already been done, and Emilia was stuck dealing with the consequences. It wasn't until she reached her teenage years and experienced her first incident of bullying that her family realized Emilia was suffering from DID. She nearly beat the other girl into a coma, and after a session with school staff, Emilia was sent to see a therapist when she kept insisting she couldn't remember anything from the incident. That's when Emilia and her family finally learned the truth, and surprisingly, Emilia took it pretty well for someone her age.
Once she got to college, the studious side of her showed even more. She often spent her nights buried behind books and rarely engaged in any social activities, The same routine went on for the first two years of her university career until she decided that it was best to have some sort of balance in her life. She started going out more, dating, making friends, etc. Her family immediately noticed the personality change, and they were happy for her.
After finally graduating, Emilia settled down to work within a hospital as a Medical Writer. Things were great for her and it showed. When she saw an ad for a job exactly like hers but with higher pay, Emilia applied simply to see what other perks came with the position. Little did she know that the Weyland-Yutani Corporation was looking for someone with her specific skills and after a successful interview, she was offered a position on the spot.
