Yeah they do affect her....alright.
She will have mutiple flashbacks. The people you put in her flashbacks will be with her until they leave her or die. The people will be her influence. Whether good or bad. They will be with her until a certain event. Which is the last flashback. You'll not only shape her, but learn of her. A repeating problem is the superbeings that are continuously attacking the earth. Or her. Though there are technologically advanced weapons that are used to fight back against superbeings. Despite the known problems against each other, all of the countries have grouped together. So there is a number of different people all arpund the world.
