Precipice of War actually existed for YEARS beyond that and comes from the old website.

As far as I can tell, it's the result of patience and dedication and has existed for... Uh, I'm not the person to ask. But it's existed since basically the 1300's. BC. Real life.

It's a long-lasting RP is what my exaggerated saying is intended to mean.

But really, there's no contest to be the longest running or most-posts-in-thread roleplay. And remember that a TON of those posts in each thread are gonna be OOC posts.

I know, I'm just trying to compile the lists.
Cause everything must be in a list (For Matthew Santoro to steal it).
I'm not trying to make it a contest anyway, just thought it would be cool to share it knowledge with everyone.

It is kind of cool, but I figured it was worth noting that someone could quite literally say 3 words and that'd be a post. I know a lot of the posts in Masters of the Hidden Valley are very short OOC posts. There's only... three pages of IC posting.

January 2011 is when PoW started. Here is our first thread for proof, and subsequent threads to show we've really been at it the entire time.. PoW didn't actually come from the old website, and I don't think any of us who moved from the other forums ever saw the old website. It's more like we starting on vidja game forums and kept getting in trouble, so we had to flee a couple of times. We all moved here just after the guild was rebuilt because one of our folk happened to know about this place.

It's hella funny that PoW comes in second place for biggest NRP in the RPG tho, since we only have 15 pages of IC.

A lot of NRPs are short lived, that's for sure. It's why I kind'a admire that you guys still have a thread kicking after five goddamned years.

Yeah, compared to most RPs that seems around 2000 years.

Yeah, a large amount of Post-WW3s (Some explode, some don't) are happening, along with Fade, that one seems to have a chance to break the top 5.

I think the reason NRP's suffer so much early death is they bring out competitiveness more than other rp's do. It's almost a rule that an NRP must have at least one guy claiming unreasonable powers, fully expecting that he's going to 'Win' and take everything over. The end result is usually bickering in the OOC, which then kills the RP.

This is one of the reasons I decided to make everyone be on the same side in my NRP.

Also, video game nostalgia.

I've tried that before too, but more to avoid the sort of NRP entropy that advanced rpers like to do where everybody ignores each other and writes their own localized plots. It didn't work out so hot. Been trying to find out what exactly made PoW survive so long so it could be replicated, but thus far all I have is a bunch of duds that died in a month.

Since you've been here for a while, what seems to be the average length for a "Good" NRP to last.

Since I've been in the RPG, i've been somewhat of a hermit RP wise. I'd say at least three months is good tho.

PoW is fuckhuge indeed. I'd attribute that to the dedicated core playerbase though, vilage, aaron, googer, hugs, and so on so forth. Were I able to keep up with it I'd probably still be in PoW (not that I haven't tried...).

Also this list is pretty flawed, I think RP's should be judged by IC alone as OOC can be watered down by chatzies and such fairly easily. Needless to say it's not a good indicator of length.

By IC the top ten would be...

1. Void of the Stars: A sci-Fi Nation Roleplay
2. Void of the Stars II
3. From Stardust, To Stardust
4. Precipice of War - We Write Under The Sign Of The Goat (RPG ONLY)
5. Civilization Roleplay: Rise of Races (The Tribes of Nova Mondial Want You!)
6. The Elder Scrolls: Rising Storm
7. The Darkness Descends (Fantasy Conquest RP)
8. Colonial Powers NRP (Reboot/New Thread)
9. Untold Empires: Legacy of the Old
10. The Iron Curtain: A Cold War NRP / Age of Rebirth (Post WW3) (TIED)

By length... Even with the colossal nature of Void PoW has some fuckhuge posts in its fuckhuge continuity, so I'd have to give it to PoW on gut feeling.

how the fuck is PoW the top 4 by number of posts? all the rest only have less than 15 pages? I think we only have 285 IC posts.

The last two have 67 each XD.

It's not a terribly comprehensive list though, I only sorted through those with overall post counts higher than 200ish.

Or they sit in a crippling state of OOC limbo for 25+ pages and never actually start.

World building is fun, but too much of it outside of IC posts can degrade the inspiration of the RP's participants.
