Because Argon was running separately I assumed he wouldn't be distracted by the careening horses, and since is a hunter first and foremost he'd have detected the smoke and be scouting for it first. I merely envisioned him as basically climbing the nearest hill to get a good look

Yeah it was silly of me for trying to take over characters, I'll try to refrain from (and I apologise for doing the same with Geradin, I was basically trying to split your stuff a little bit so you have some authority over both situations and allocating your characters to places they would naturally find themselves, but anybody with any brains would have probably just let you do that yourself, soz)

@Ink BloodYou did well. The only thing I can think to edit in your post is you insinuated that the damage was done by Man. Remember, just because a Dragon didn't do it, doesn't mean it wasn't Orcs or Gnolls.

I'm sure it was neither nor, but the real culprit is something else.

My theory is that there existed an ancient culture that was clever enough to design and use a calendar that actually can roll over and restart from zero (unlike modern calendars) so the folks coming long after them will have reason for pointless panicking and making movies which entirely consist of special effects even if they are not programmers for whose it's always a good reason for feeling agitated when something rolls over. And now that this event just occured we have to expect strange things like destroyed villages to happen just out of nowhere.

Now unfortunately there are two possible hidden variables...
First: IT'S ALL REAL!!!!
Second: OH MY... WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!!

@The Fated Fallen Actually, I think Elves can't be vampires, because they turned into Dark Elves instead at the time. Actually, if I'm not mistaken, all vampires used to be human, going by lore. I wonder what would happen to another race perverted so by, uh... Wat'shis-Fa'as the Eldritch Abomination. Yeah, that guy.

@BCTheEntityElves can become Vampires, but Dark Elves cannot since they have a bit of the curse's taint. The Elves were effected differently by the curse, but if a Silver Elf was bitten by a Vampire and given the blood kiss, they'd turn all the same. It would similar to...let's say...
Two men are out in the sun for an unseemly long time. One receives terrible skin cancer, while the other gets sunburned because of his physiology. That doesn't mean the sunburned guy cannot get skin cancer if someone injected a bunch of cancer cells into him, however.
