Personality: The PN61A is a bundle of childish wonder wrapped around in a deadpan exterior. The Spectacular and Oh-so-Glorious Gretchen Primrose is an individual full of curiosity and vivaciousness. With a stubborn and showy pride that is oddly robotic, she seeks to prove how great she is.

Abilities: Such a spectacular and oh so magical being of machinery must have a bag full of tricks! Her most commonly mighty practices involve hitting people with a hefty staff, and launching her robotic hand a short distance out to drag others for a beating with the staff, or just punching with the hand. The machinery has been built to code and as such is stronger than flesh, in both endurance and smacking things.

At Arc Academy PN61A plans on repairing some faulty parts in her Witch's Hat so that she can once again use its buzz-saw functions. She also plans on upgrading her Witch's Staff so she can charge it up with energy for explosive strikes.

Background: The life of PN61A began in an underground laboratory on an operating table. From the near lifeless body of some little girl arose a new cyborg that lived ALL THANKS TO SCIENCE! Or QI. OR SCIENCE QI! Anyhow the first thing PN61A noticed upon awakening from the table was a woman in a lab coat cackling about life and then hugged PN61A. That figure was the mysterious and brilliant freelance-scientist Iris Primrose. The pair bonded over a variety of subjects, most notably the idea of witchcraft through all sorts of genres, as the scientist began to raise the newly named Gretchen Primrose.

One day Scientist Primrose took Gretchen out to a circus, where they spotted a figure leaping over a building. The Spectacular and Oh-so-Glorious Gretchen Primrose inquired into how this could be done and decided to sneak away from the scientist. She managed to find the man, and after holding onto his clothes for a good few minutes as he tried to shake her of, he confessed that there was an Academy that taught him how to do the things she witnessed.

Knowing that she would be the super-duper best at this academy, The Spectacular and Oh-so-Glorious Gretchen Primrose went off on a journey pestering countless amount of people. Sometimes she just asked them, sometimes she smacked them with a staff, other times she'd act cutely, other times she'd act like a brat, but no matter how she decided to go about getting the information she was determined to gather it. And after many, many, many failures of gaining information she eventually managed to find out where this place was and when it would be in session. Knowing these facts, PN61A went off to become even greater and show the people there how great she is.

Extra: Interestingly her body is forty-percent scrap metal! She keeps a small pink handheld device on her that has a digital pet she claims is her witch familiar.

Okay so to clarify, the abilities our character's use will be reminiscent of Hunter X Hunter. But any actual terms like Nen are not going to be used.

What @Dblade26 and I had in mind was more of a middle ground. Characters will be able to sense others' energy levels and presence, they can shield their bodies with their auras, fire kinetic blasts, etc.

I actually want to leave the concept open for now, but if you're familiar with Hunter X Hunter I don't see the more complex powers like Kite's sentient "Crazy Slots" being something that would quite fit.

But as I said before, I want everyone to enjoy the game. So please provide feedback.

If players want it, I would actually be more open to discussing more complex individual powers as manifestations of qi, though naturally it would make a bit more work for we GMs in terms of individual approval for each character's powers.

That said, I'm also considering making a bit of a mapped out premise for how qi works, likely partially based on the Five Classical Chinese elements of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water with the addition of Air, that could be used and combined in various ways for various effects. Either thing is fine by me depending on player preference, with the addendum that we'd probably have to be a bit reserved with the former and have overall authority on if an unforseen potential loophole with a power or a level of oddity oversteps the bounds of what fits the setting, level of fairness and tone.

Aw man, this RP is practically the exact same idea as the one I've been working on and was planning on making (except this one is way more fleshed out and detailed). Like, I even used very similar wording in the opening description for the thread that I was working on

Not necessarily, it would depend on what it was you were trying to do, and what the ultimate finalization of the power system looks like.

Discussing this with @Dblade26 now, but originally I didn't envision a distinct difference between the abilities of the species besides creatures like wild animals. So players would all fall into the same realm of abilities, just study different techniques and develop their own individual powers.

On that note, as demons are part of the species list, their auras would appear different and full demon enemies may have their own unique abilities to challenge characters with.

@Solaris I see everyone as starting out on an even playing field. But if we make any species specific traits that is okay, so long as it's well written and doesn't disrupt the balance between characters.

I think I want to keep the demons' potential open actually, leaving room for such as a water demon etc.

We're postponing the character approval until we all reach a consensus on the ability application/potential and see who is committed to the game. That way no one drops out after having been approved and we can get straight to posting once the characters are approved.

My RP was going to be more of a direct sendup to battle school shounen anime and its cliches, where yours seems to be more generally inspired by them (also the way I did the energy stuff was kinda similar but not the same). Still, I think they're more similar than they are different

Also, a couple questions

1: Does this RP exist in the real world, or is it its own made up world?

2: In this world, what would you say the most powerful and/or prestigious position in this world is? Y'know, this story's equivalent of the Hokage or Pirate King or something

3: Would you be bothered if I ended up making an RP with very similar ideas after or during this one? I'm probably gonna join this RP, but I don't want my own stuff I've worked on to go to waste, y'know? (I could PM you what I've written so far)

1. The roleplay will take place in an alternative Earth, the settings to be made up as we go. They can include very realistic settings and others that are non-existent in reality.

2. There will likely be an association/board that runs The Academy. Might be a head chairman/grandmaster or something.

3. I would not be bothered at all and might even join your roleplay if I can manage. I've come across ideas similar to my own and know that it is no one's ill-intention that causes this. It's not like everyone can fit into one Star Wars or shounen roleplay anyway lol. I would not mind seeing what you have if you want to share/collaborate.
