Not to be a contrarian, but I've never been too big into the Metal Gear games. I did play and thoroughly enjoy Snake Eater, but that's really been the only one I've played.

I never got into it before, so I don't feel the need to now. My video game tastes don't usually stray too far from the sort of things I was into as a teenager, so its pretty much just open-world rpg's and strategy games for me.

Mostly prefer RPGs, strategy, and a shooter from time to time, but I usually have a few games from every genre I enjoy.

Metal Gear shits on my soul and I keep going back to it anyway. I just got done infiltrating some place. It was tense as fuck. Guards everywhere. I'm almost done when fucking Dimitri over here thinks it's a good fucking time to walk into a room he never walks into except when he has an itching suspicion that sneaky-man is in it and he really, really wants that Red Army Star metal or whatever they give those fucking commies. Then everything goes to shit so hard I just shut the game off. I'm going back in.

EDIT: Fuck Yakho-whatever-the-fuck base. Fuck the architects. Fuck the guards. Fuck everyone. Even the prisoners. Fuck that place. What a nightmare. Those blindspots when trying to sneak in and out of the courtyard area always fuck me over.

Just blow up their comm stations. That way when you fuck up it doesn't go to beyond the shit sphere. Then you can manipulate their tender Russian asses all you want as they literally scream for reinforcements.

I've had situations go that way. It gets amazing when they're straight pissing themselves and unable to reinforce themselves properly. I've also mostly destroyed all comms and air-radar in Afghanistan as well ahead of any important story-ops.

Not to be a contrarian, but I've never been too big into the Metal Gear games. I did play and thoroughly enjoy Snake Eater, but that's really been the only one I've played.

MGSV is in the same story-line as MGS3, if that matters. So it's all properly still within the Cold War context. I don't know what else to say besides the fact it basically has the better version of Snake. Five would mark the fifth game in the series with Big Boss/Cold War-Snake as the central protagonist. Or four-and-a-half if you consider Ground Zeroes more half-a-game than a full game.

And fucking Miller is fucking insane with revenge. It's scary listening to his tapes. He's dedicated as fuck.

Just to confirm how much I'm into Phantom Pain at this point: I had to remind myself I have contracts in TF2 to complete and basically had to set aside time post-class work to play TF2 just to complete Gun Mettle contracts and keep up-to-date.

Ah, what a dilemma. Video games be trampling on our 9-5 video game obligations.

At this point I feel like I'm doing TF2 just for the contracts. Once that shit ends I'll probably let it fall by the wayside finally for a while.

I don't see the point of playing a vidja game if it is a chore. Just drop that shit if you feel like it.

After an eternity of slithering around the base picking people off and occasionally pretending to be a cardboard box, I made Yakho base my bitch and got an S rank on the mission that was giving me trouble.

HEYYYYYYYY GUYYYYYYYYYYYS! It's been a while, hasn't it?

I'm just dropping by to let you know that I got around to uploading some old PoW mods I made for Civ 5. They only update leader names, civ names, and the civ traits, however, and ATM there are only 5 of them. Still, I'd just like to share them with you, and let you know that I plan on creating more of them in the future. The current ones are as follows:

1. New People's China under Hou Sai Tang (replaces China)
"Asian Socialist Bloc" - City-State influence decreases at half the normal rate and recovers at double the normal rate. 10% Combat bonus against City-States and City-State units.

2. Second Spanish Republic under Alfonso Sotelo (replaces Spain)
"Anticomunista" - Receive 3 extra Spies. Great Generals spawn 25% faster and provide a 40% Combat bonus.

3. Pan-African Empire under Yaqob Yohannes I (replaces Ethiopia)
"Pan-African Union" - Units receive a 35% bonus against civs with higher tech. Founded cities start with extra tiles.

4. South American Confederacy under Adriano Claro (replaces Brazil)
"Allies by Trade" - Can annex or puppet City-States after being allied for 5 turns. Caravans have a 50% increase in range.

5. Canadian Empire under Janet Arnold (replaces the Iroquois)
"Blame Canada" - Bomber maintenance reduced by 50%. Units require 50% less EXP to level up. Great Generals provide a 30% Combat bonus.

There's also an additional mod in the collection that changes nukes to VX gas. They don't do anything differently, it's just a name change. I only made it to sort of keep with the feeling of "no nukes" in the RP.

Here's a link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=514887782

Expect them to be buggy. I know for a fact that Ethiopia's bonus against civs with "higher tech" doesn't work right ATM, and am working on a different bonus. And like I said, I'm working on creating more; expect to see Armenia, Japan, Siberia, and the Russian Republic soon!

But yeah, there they are! If any of you play Civ 5, I hope you enjoy them!

Holy crap that's cool. Might have to actually play Civ 5 in order to try that.

Also quick PoW related question: Is Ireland independent from the UK? I saw either in the lore summary or the wiki that it was, but I just wanted to confirm that. I don't want to do anything important with it, I just mention it in regards to the Irish-Americans in the US.

Thanks! You'll need the DLC if you wanna play with Spain, Ethiopia, and Brazil. Trust me, though, it's definitely worth it.

You're still in charge of the US, right? I'll have to think of something the US has done in RP to give them a specific UA. Is there anything noteworthy or particular that the US has done since I've been gone? All I remember is the US's war against Canada, the conquering of that breakaway Canadian nation, the gassing of Seattle, and their anti-communist leanings.

I don't recall Ireland breaking off during the British economic turmoil, but then again, I don't not recall it breaking away either. I would say yes, but then again, PoW lore isn't my call, beyond Mexico--and I since I've been gone so long, I doubt I have much say on that either.

Speaking of which, how are things looking for Mexico? Anything important I should know about? Has anyone taken it up in my absence? If not, I might just like to pick it back up....

I probably could have used you earlier, but I guess you will have to fill in later. But of recent events:

The Third International's central Politburo elected that yes, there's grounds to go to war with Spain. This comes with agreement from most of the member nation's fifty-person delegations.

I want to go over the exact terms later, but to keep certain areas in synch with activities abroad I'm holding off until @Vilageidiotx and I do something with Azima and Hou. But the general premise is that the International has declared a state of war between it and Spain to drive the Spanish out of Africa and broadly "reconstruct the African regime". It'll probably take a while for further nations like Mexico to catch wind, so don't worry about it just yet. And though it's not a formal declaration of war on behalf of all the nations involved it does establish certain minimum obligations to contributing to the military state of the war. So Mexico will be expected in time to deploy at least some troops to Africa to back-up the Ethiopians.

On an informal basis this may be a move some individuals might use to drum up full war support depending on what's going on at home. This will come into play later in Asia.

Perhaps Isolationism would be the America UA? You could give them the vanilla Ethiopian UA, and maybe mix in something else for style.

I got the mod and fucked around with it a bit. I wanted to meet everybody, but ended up spawning on a tiny island with China.

The only unintended bug I noticed was that NPC simply doesn't download. Even when I am picking out civs in advanced settings, I can pick out all the modded versions for the others but NPC remains Wu Zetian and China.

Heh heh...yeah, my bad....

Wait, holy shit, really? Oh my god, IT'S HAPPENING

Er, well, maybe not quite yet. But the (non-)declaration is there! Shit's 'bout to get fucked. Don't worry, you can be assured that the Mexicans will be there on the shores of Africa to aid in the conflict when the time comes.

"Reconstruct the African regime." Suspicious wording is suspicious. But we'll see how that plays out.

Perhaps Isolationism would be the America UA? You could give them the vanilla Ethiopian UA, and maybe mix in something else for style.

I can certainly see the historical significance of American "isolationism", yes. That's something to definitely take into consideration. However, Ethiopia's UA for America would be counterintuitive simply because America is pretty big in the RP. If I made a scenario with the borders as they are in the RP--and I do intend to make a scenario once I have enough modded civs--then America's UA would be useless. I'm thinking something akin to isolationism, yes, but perhaps some gunboat diplomacy, too? Or maybe just buff their Manifest Destiny UA, who the hell knows.

By the way, I'm considering replacing Ethiopia's bonus against higher tech with the Iroquois forest and jungle movement bonus, as well as keeping the extra founded territory. What do you think?

I got the mod and fucked around with it a bit. I wanted to meet everybody, but ended up spawning on a tiny island with China.

That's unfortunate. Maybe try advanced settings so that you could meet everyone?

The only unintended bug I noticed was that NPC simply doesn't download. Even when I am picking out civs in advanced settings, I can pick out all the modded versions for the others but NPC remains Wu Zetian and China.

Huh, that's odd. It was the first of the mods I made, and it was a considerable while before I made the others. It may be lacking something that the others have. If not, I may just need to scrap the older version and make a new one altogether.

Also, a thought: have you tried it with any of the other modded civs? It may not be an issue with China, but instead all the mods as a whole. I certainly hope it's just one mod and not all of them DX
