*Change the title of this thread to Improving the Arena!

I treat these characters like my kids of my imagination, and im not irish, I dont plan to have a kid every day until i have thousands, but its a good idea to encourage people to have more CS to work with.....

In the Old guild I think mahz had sticky thread that had a short guide on how to conduct a battle, it said something about if you say you are going to throw a hundred punches you have to factor how much time that would take to throw and what your opponent could do in that time.

I think we could have a sticky for

-Some sort of begginners guide

-Some sort of explanation on tiers and types of matches

- my 'Arena Battlegrounds' Thread :) its very handy

-Ranking/League/Exhibition Callout room

and just on top of that i think every tournament match should have 1 or 2 'referees' to make sure nobody is being cheeky with the rules.
But I think the intro Tourney for fun sounds great even if we can just start with a basic 8 player knockout tournament with some of us veteran's it should be fine.

We had all those things.
Like everything else, Guildfall ruined it all.

The referee is another can.

Damn phone.

most of the threads can simply be remade. just takes time todo it.

I am a fan of how the Hall of Records work with it being based on the writers and not.ranked.by character. As well as the 10% system the use to distribute points after wins and losses. A winner gains 10 percent of the losers total and the loser loses that much. A harder way to do it would be like the Seguleh from Malazan, which stimulate that to advance in their ranks, you must beat someone superior and thus take their position. I am not sure what happens if you lose to a lower rank, whether everyone gets moved back or you just switch places.

Important had a good idea about the kick battles, good way to show proper ways to do things that are both logical and can. Carry a fight.

It would prove interesting if we also had a Dojo thread to help act out concepts in T1. For instance charging and interrupts, and to show in an example how they work.

That could work, but would anyone want go though with the fight after they know they'll lose - as opposed to rolling and writing?

Would a roll then write work better under a roll-post-roll-post system? So it's not so much that the battle would be pre-determined, but rather the action needed is.

A dice system could be as simple as a needing >/= X to land a hit and so on, could it not?

That's actually the system Lancrist worked on if I remember correctly.

If it's based on the person and not the characters then that would discourage people from trying silly or otherwise not very talented characters for fear of it costing them their record.

The 10% would be more representative of skill over the "beating them to steal their rank" plan. All you have to do is beat the top rank in one battle and get to the top of the ranking system just like that. To avoid that we could say you can only challenge the next best, but that would by default limit you to only be able to fight one specific person no matter what if you want to get up the ladder. This could be it's own tournament type thing but I wouldn't make it the main record keeping system.

The dojo could have things set up by us and just random practice fighting for everyone that any character can walk in. Perhaps the dojo has magical properties that stops attacks from being able to kill each other.

For the dice roll system we may need some sort of stats involved to see how accurate they would be to determine their dice roll needed.

I don't think it would cause people to abandon talented characters, in fact it might have the opposite effect. For.instance, you could use any of your 100+ characters to help climb the ranks.

That's what I said, the opposite of that.
It would cause people to abandon worse characters for fear of it ruining their record, not abandoning their characters who are good for winning matches. Therefore, if I use one of my characters like Kendo, he's horrible at fighting in canon so obviously would loose most of his battles and plummet my record for ever using him. Therefore, I wouldn't use him.

Who you use is ultimately up to you anyway. Hahaha. nothing would really change in a sense except now people would ask if "this is a ranked fight."

I posted my trump card in Character-A-Day today! Well, I sort of ran out of time so just posted the joke character I had in store for such an occasion, but same difference. Anyways, she's going to be played super op in her battles so will up my win ratio. Fear the horrible power of Kawaii! Fear her!

I like the idea of an official record system, especially if it allowed some central hub where characters and their profiles could be found and challenged at will, it might force some life into the Arena.

As for new characters, I've a few that I've been working on in my relatively short absence, and I've got that itch to fight in the Arena again, so if anyone wants to challenge the man with a melon for a head I'm available.

Maybe for record keeping you can have a total record and character records. It might help to know how individual characters are doing.

You'll probably remember that. Hahaha. The biggest thing will be the records themselves for players. it will be cool if we can have them under our names or something, with an opt out/in option.

Oh Hi! Melon!

My girlfriend has actually been helping me redevelop Kei'Taro. Adding some old tattos and some new ones, as well as tweaking Kusanagi with the addition of two abilities.

A record system would be most welcome. I like the 10% idea.

KKeeeiiitaaarooooooo!

His sword is rad. I remember being surprised back in the day that it wasn't being used as a primary means of attack. If I remember correctly, I spent an unhealthy amount of time working out how to not get stabbed to death by it, only to get attacked by fire instead. What tweaks do you have planned?
