"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."
-Elanor Roosevelt

To those of you who know my style, what I'm saying here should be no surprise. This is a Sci-Fi NRP where there is no preset plot. No Evil Empire to defeat, no "Chosen One", and no precursors that seeded all civilizations. This roleplay is made up of player-made nations populated by player-made species in the Milky Way. Each nation has its own goals, as do its people, all freely decided by the people who made them. This is a sci-fi NRP sandbox.

Now, there are a few restrictions. Because if there weren't, then some prick would inevitably make a giant intergalactic empire and immediately declare war on everyone else. By "restrictions" I really mean "restriction". That restriction is that your civilization is young. Perhaps you have only colonized your home system, perhaps you hold domain over a few planets in your immediate interstellar neighborhood, or maybe you've just now seen the first footprints on your planet's moon. Whatever the case, you are most certainly not an expansive Empire.

Apps will follow the standard Stardust style, as shown below:

Name of nation:
Species:
Description of government:
Description of military:
Technological Overview:
Cultural Overview:
History:
Other:

As seen in the tags, this will be an advanced roleplay. Everyone must conform to the advanced standards as seen in their description on the homepage. This shouldn't be too much of a problem, since they call for at least 2 paragraphs, something which 99% of the NRP section already exceeds. Other rules are as follows:

-Blah blah blah no godmodding you know the drill by now.
-Please no arguments in the OOC, take them to a PM. The OOC doesn't like them, you know. Very sensitive.
-Again: Your nations are young. Nobody controls a zillion planets.
-Keep ridiculousness levels below "Desk Worshippers". You know, unless you happen to have a realistic explanation. Which you don't.
-Electronic warfare is complicated. If you're trying to hack a non-binary computer with your binary one, you're gonna have a bad time. At bare minimum, follow that rule.
-I highly encourage politics to be more than "I want gold you have gold war now". Have some fun. Diplomats living in embassies coping with alien customs, long and formal meetings, spies and intrigue, etc. It's more fun for all of us that way, especially the guy with the gold.
-Emotional breakdowns make the OOC cry. Don't make the OOC cry, I'm not good at comforting things.

What you have seems very interesting with them. I can't wait to see what you have in store.

Wouldn't we have to do something like "Important/Worthy of notice" people?

I'm interested in this. But I've decided to reinvent the way I roleplay due to a recent tragedy of major misunderstandings and loss I suffered. Is that okay? Basically, I will spend the majority of my OOC in PM rather than in... you know, OOC. This could be a phase or something, but I'll keep you guys posted.

I'm trying to think of the most alien and outlandish idea possible right now. It's going to be difficult because most of our aliens in pop culture are mostly humanoid.

EDIT: I think I got it. What do you guys think of a pacifistic bird-alien type? It's a very old idea I have, so I'm experienced in using it I guess.

Not here. I don't like having people lock in characters from the start. Of course, you can add a section if you really want to.

Whatever you say in your app goes as long as you get accepted. I definitely like bird aliens though, if they can fly, they might bring some interesting tactics into space battles.

Alright, I'll put something up in a day or two. Though these guys will probably be the last people to get involved in a war.

Seven seems sufficient to begin discussing rudimentary plot details.

I intend, at the start of the RP, for the Ennedi home system to be discovered after eighty million years. It will, naturally, be completely abandoned with no lifesigns whatsoever in the system, but with remarkably intact planetary infrastructure on the home planet and a Starbase.

In essence, I'd like for one nation or another, perhaps multiple nations, to send research teams and occupational forces to go and start poking and prodding at everything. In addition to all the historical insight the discovery might yield, there will be plenty of opportunities to examine intact Ennedi technology.

For the start of the RP, I'll be writing for the Straylight Institute, an international science and research institution of some moderate renown. They have amongst their members some of the foremost Xenoarcheologists in the galaxy (although I am sure plenty also hail from some of the other nations), and they probably know more about the Ennedi than anybody else in the Galaxy, barring perhaps the Hlazgaran. They'll be looking for funding, sponsorship, and some military escorts while examining the homeworld and starbase.

They could definitely give contracts to my nation.
They basically survive on contracts doing things most other people would say, "Please no, I don't want to do something this dangerous."

Well this isn't exactly dangerous work. Ennedi are thought to have been dead for eighty million years and all their equipment has been drained of power by now, so it's not like any of the automated defenses could work.

The most dangerous prospect of the entire thing would be if the various parties involved decided to have a scrap over ownership.

Bird aliens?

Um...
Well, I was- am- in a holy-crap-dinosaurs phase because of the upcoming Jurassic World, and um
Dinosuars are more avian than reptillian
And I was planning on having both reptillian-y peoples and rarer [more politically prominent] feathered races (kind of like an American versus EveryoneElse thing XP, with a basis of inferior:superior, 100:1), with wings genetically activated (gene's there, just not "on") on the most important or the wealthy that want to show off.

I mean

@WilsonTurner They won't exactly be avian as we know it though, but the closest description would be avian. They fly, seem to possess similar adaptations, but at the same time evolved very differently. Very.
