@GreenGrenade I am interested.

Great! Any particular character you have in mind?
Just curious why the inclusion of Marvel stuff into this.

Good question -- it would've been a good idea to expand on that aspect a little bit more in the OP. This game takes place in a "shared multiverse", I guess, of different iterations of an RP called Maximum Comics, where DC and Marvel characters coexist alongside one another. That said, this is largely a DC, and by extension, Gotham game, and as such focuses on characters typically associated with that setting. So while this is set in a world where Marvel and DC characters might interact with one another, this sets its sights on the DC characters that call Gotham home.
Special Thanks to @Xtreme

Gotham Knights is a collaborative semi-linear sandbox that takes place in Gotham City within the framework of a singularized universe (DC Comics and Marvel Comics). Players can take control of any character (hero or walking-the-line) that calls Gotham its home, developing their own subplots all while they react to and take part in the larger story at hand.

As a semi-linear sandbox, the keys to Gotham City are given to you – the player – but not without limitations or guidance. Your character’s story is yours to tell, but it is intertwined with the larger goings-on of Batman’s story. As we progress from arc to arc, your character will react and participate accordingly, interacting with other characters and effectively creating a living, breathing Gotham for readers and writers alike to enjoy.

The current date is May 2nd, 2016.

It has been one month since the planet Earth was attacked by a host of Kryptonian invaders led by Commander Dru-Zod. Attempting to harvest the world in a violent takeover, utilizing alien technology dubbed the “world engine” the Kryptonian survivors wage an assault on Earth that risks the entire population of the planet. The technology begins a hyper-evolved process of terraforming that creates severe worldwide earthquakes and other catastrophic events. As the machines are attacked by Earth defense forces, it seems it’s a race against time to save the planet before everyone is killed in the process. Superman is pushed to the limits as he and the various other superheroes of the planet try to do their part against Zod’s invasion— a unity not seen since the days of the Justice Society of America and the Invaders.

However, the defeat against Zod has left the world in a precarious state. The Kryptonian invasion has besmirched Superman’s entire reputation and the people who have once worshiped him now look at him with a paranoid gaze. He finds his allegiance and character under question by dozens upon dozens of politicians, celebrities, and journalists. The likes of Lex Luthor directly blames Superman for his incompetence and carelessness as well as declares that had Superman not been on Earth his oppressive people wouldn’t have come and attacked Earth in the first place. A sentiment that rings some truth.

The precedent set by the invasion is not just limited to Superman’s reputation though. Between the various financial damages inflicted, the severe loss of life, and the militarized reactions from several national governments such as the formation of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s interstellar response agency S.W.O.R.D., as well as the research into several anti-metahuman projects and thinktanks. The world has officially been brought into a new age— but nobody knows if it will be good or bad. In Gotham City, the effects of the preceding events have been critical to the infrastructure and populace. The damage sustained is not exclusively structural; lives have been lost, and families have been torn apart. As the city grieves, crime runs rampant, taking advantage of the city management’s shifted focus on rebuilding to maximise profit. Wayne Enterprises leads the initiative to restore Gotham, the Wayne Foundation focusing on providing for families who have lost something in the tragedy, all while the company’s funds are funneled into projects to rebuild and revitalise.

As far as Gotham is concerned, the Batman is a myth; a scare tactic employed by the GCPD to spread fear among the criminal underworld. He’s a conspiracy, nothing but a tale woven by those who would rather believe that their city is protected by a so-called superhero than face the cold, harsh truth of their reality. There is no evidence of his existence. Only the words of the criminals he supposedly brings in are there to fuel Gotham’s imagination, but how trustworthy can their stories really be?

More than you might think. For the Batman is very real, much more so than anyone could imagine – and he is not faring well. His six years of activity have taken their toll on him, most of all his most recent encounter. The madman refuses to leave his mind; his laughter is ever present, as are the screams of those who lost their lives in the Kryptonian Invasion. Gone is the faith he once had in himself, replaced by an uncertainty in his abilities. Robin, his partner, has left to spread his wings elsewhere. He would never admit it, but in truth, the Batman feels more alone than he ever has before.

Little does he know, change is imminent, and with it comes a storm. The Dark Knight will be forced to step out of the shadows… and Gotham will be changed forever.

This game will focus on the inhabitants of Gotham, whoever they may be, as they develop, grow and change in a semi-linear sandbox environment. You can play any hero or walking the line character related to the Batman mythos, provided they fit in with the current timeline of events – which can, of course, be negotiated with the GMs. This game enables us to write fresh takes on characters, so don’t feel limited by the canon. You’re free to reimagine characters within reason, provided that you keep in spirit of their original interpretations.

The game will have “main arcs” for the characters to participate in and react to. These arcs will progress through GM posts, the first focusing on Batman being revealed to the public. However, as mentioned before, this is a semi-linear sandbox – so players will be given free reign (within reason) to develop their own subplots, advancing your character’s personal story as Gotham evolves alongside them. If this sounds like your kind of thing, then you’re welcome to join.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to ask. Both myself and @Gowi will be happy to answer.
It's a WIP for the moment, but I figured I'd throw this up here anyway. So... yeah. Green Arrow.

@GreenGrenade Kingdom Come is one of the major inspirations for the story line and one of my favorite comics overall. There's also quite a bit of Flashpoint, Watchmen, TDKR, All-Star Superman, and Justice League Unlimited mixed in too. The RP also runs on the idea that all Myths, Legends, and Fairy Tales are true to some extent.

The Arrow family would be great to see, I could see Connor Hawke becoming the primary Green Arrow and perhaps he has a sister who is the new Black Canary like in the KC comic. If we're going with KC, I could see Hal being a lot like Alan Scott was in the story, after nearly 30 years, Hal should be pretty formidable.

I do have another idea for the Arrow Family involving an older Oliver as the main POV, but I'd rather see if anyone was interested in running Black Canary first, as she's pretty important to that idea and I wouldn't want to deprive anyone of the chance to play her just because. Unless I'm allowed to throw an app up and see how it goes, in which case, neat.

Yeah, with Hal I have a wearier guy in mind, trying to maintain relations between the GLC and JLU. I have a feeling that the Guardians (and he) won't be all too comfortable with such intimate arrangements between Earth and Oa.
Possible interest. Have no idea who I'd go with, but for the moment I'm leaning towards either the Arrow Family (with Connor Hawke as the main POV) or Hal Jordan. Either way, I'm keeping my eye on this. Getting some major Kingdom Come vibes. I like it. :P

As Miles crept towards what sounded distinctly like dangerous weaponry being discharged, it crossed his mind that if he wanted to stay alive, it probably wasn’t the best idea. Crouched low amid the alien shrubbery of the arena, he silently questioned his decision to find the source of the noise. How could he possibly know what kind of person awaited him? As far as he knew, it could have been a trap, set to draw in any overly-curious, unsuspecting victims that may be stupid enough to walk to their deaths with their arms spread wide, yelling, “HEY, OVER HERE!”

That he was invisible gave him little comfort. Superhumans came with a variety of powers and abilities, and while most didn’t notice him, there were those that, through whatever means, could detect his presence. On his second night as Spider-Man, he’d been waiting for the right time to disrupt a drug deal in the Bronx, perched comfortably on the rafters of a not at all sketchy warehouse. He was invisible to all of the criminals present – that is, to all but one. He still wasn’t sure whether the guy was a mutant or not, but somehow – enhanced smell, hearing, eyesight, whatever – he spotted Miles. Yes, Miles’ spider-sense helped him leave the ensuing scuffle without so much as a scratch, but now, in an arena with four other superpowered, most likely more experienced people, the thought of banking on it to save his ass didn’t exactly fill him with confidence.

Who knows, he thought, Maybe they’re friendly.

He stopped in his tracks as a blue figure came into view. Clad in what looked like armour of the alien kind, it flew into the air, blasters – the weapons he’d heard earlier – firing onto a blur his eyes could barely keep track of. The blasts stopped the blur in its tracks, but only for a few seconds; breaking into a run once more, it disappeared from view amid the tangle of structures it had come from. After what felt like a minute at most, it dashed once more into his line of sight, even more difficult to follow than before.

Watching from what he felt was a safe distance, Miles grimaced. Okay. Maybe not.
So I guess it's about time that I tell anyone who might not be on Discord who I'll be applying as: Jessica Jones. She'll be college-aged, not quite yet founding Alias Investigations, and she hasn't yet run into Purple Man. That said (and this is mainly for @Byrd Man), when she does go through the whole Killgrave ordeal, I want to make sure that it doesn't conflict with anyone's plans. Considering that Killgrave's also a Daredevil villain, I figured I should run this through here.

Screw it, I'm interested. Thinking of running a college-aged Jessica Jones. Hm.
