Some can't view the site?

Is something weird going on? I can see the site just fine (obviously), but a few others that are on the FB page can't get on at all. It should also be noted that they used IE, Chrome, and Firefox and still nothing.

They're going directly to http://198.58.124.212:3000/ and it doesn't work?

What do they see instead?

Oh, they were going to http://www.roleplayerguild.com?

Since I just updated http://www.roleplayerguild.com so that it points to this launch server, it takes a while to propagate across the internet. I recommend people bookmark http://198.58.124.212:3000/ until the domain name updates. http://198.58.124.212:3000/ is basically the raw address.

Takes around 1-3 days.

One of those that couldn't pick up the website.

Yea it didn't make a difference what browser I used or settings I had. www.roleplayerguild.com would load that temp page you had.

Didn't work on mobile, either, until using the number URL that was provided on Facebook.

Refreshing on the "We'll be back soon" page seemed to fix it. You might need to do a cache clear to force it to load the new version of the page.

I was having a hard time on my phone, but going to the raw address seemed to clear things up. I would recommend that to anyone still having phone issues.

Basically, a domain name like roleplayerguild.com just points to an IP address like 198.58.124.212:3000.

It would be wasteful to have to look up the IP address that roleplayerguild.com points to every single time you type it in, so your internet service provider stores that info for you.

It only updates the info once every 1-7 days or so.

Since I just pointed roleplayerguild.com to a new IP address today, that's why some people see the new site and some people see the old site. And it's why visiting http://198.58.124.212:3000 circumvents that whole issue -- because you're going right to the server.

Hopefully that explains a few things.
