So I'll just mark them at one of the greater summons then.

Um, for context, um...

I draw inspirations for some of the scariest summons, as I imagine them, from the Cthulhu mythos.

They can be powerful but the scariest summons are still reeeeally scary.

But those would be very difficult to summon. It would take a lot if magical talent and probably multiple summoners. Then you have to control that creature, which might not be the case. Guardians were a way for the Snow Elves to sort of mass produce a fully obedient army. The huge advantage is they they are just a suit of armor and won't tire and become difficult to beat. That's why I stake they are on par with greater summons.

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure an army of mechanical warriors who can fight on-par with god-like entities sits well with me. Keep in mind the power level I'm implying when it comes to the greater summons.

How does the idea of a Law Enforcement Guild sit with you, Vita? Too much power or no?

"Greater" being the keyword. I didn't say they were above them or whatever. Also summoning god-like entities seems a bit... too much. Summoning (especially how you describe it) is all about dragging a creature from its own world to do your bidding. Nothing is going to be happy about that but if the summoner is strong enough, they can command the summoned to obey. No mortal entity could possibly have the strength to demand obedience from a god-like entity. Those things would squash the person who summoned them and then go on a rampage because they are pissed they were dragged from their world.

@PrimezTime: It's why only a skilled summoner would do it. They can, as well, also be partially summoned, they are carefully bound by the summoning... and on top of that there's rarely a reason to summon something so powerful. Still, there are other powerful summons not on that level that range in how they will cooperate(many depending on how powerful the summoner is), and others are more animals than anything.

Basically I'm still not really sure a mechanical warrior army like that sits well with me.

@Asuras: There's a city watch, which Rin has been working on like she said, eh-heh.

Okay so let's say I dropped the "greater" title. They are just a good summons for combat and there aren't too many of them due to resource and political reasons. They would probably number to be a small legion (approximately 1,000 total) of them to bolster the Snow Elf ranks. Will this work?

Race Name: The High Elves--not to be confused with the generic elves (who, by this point, are presumably the wood elves)

Race Description: The single most arrogant species to have ever walked the world. Their origins are a mystery--at some point, they split off from the rest of elven-kind, only to come back in force in pursuit of some lost artefacts, lead by the same leader as before, as well as who the High folk themselves claim to be the single greatest man to ever live and the creator of all the magical regalia they prize to this day.

For the most part, they were completely uninterested in disturbing any population they passed through, unless it stood between them and their treasures, where a simple choice was faced: return the treasure, or perish. Most, wisely given the force assembled, gave whatever had come into their possession back. A few others refused, and went to brief war over it.

The Snow Elves, however, arrogantly looking down on others of their kind, went one step too far: not only refusing to return the artefacts they had acquired, they humiliated the messengers and put priceless treasures into their own horrific machines. The retribution still stands as the single greatest massacre in history: entire cities razed to the ground, the populations wiped out entirely, and even the land itself reshaped and rendered barren. The Snow Elves survived--just, but they weren't ever going 'home' again.

The onslaught was brought to a halt when their leader was slain, having chosen to fight all the Snow Elves' war machinery himself. True to his reputation, the damage he inflicted was far greater than that received... but it still broke the High Elves apart for the first time. Though they followed their oaths to recover the artefacts to the bitter end, the vast horde splintered and warred amongst itself, dragging all those they passed by into the conflict, for centuries before splitting apart entirely.

Much like they have in ages past, the high elves are a predominantly nomadic people, maintaining their image through exclusively taming aerial beasts--it was even said that their fallen legion was able to make dragons bend knee and serve him. Those who care to learn a craft other than the bow and combat magic universally excel, from smithing to necromancy, but often go off the deep end in the pursuit of some goal or another. Whilst many great mages and inventors have been high elves, at least as many, if not more, have been homicidal nutcases needing an outright military response.

Physically, though, they barely differ from their common cousins. The differences developed appear to entirely be a genius that walks a thin line between genius and madness, constantly.
Anyone that tries to play one of these guys is mad. XD

Religion Name: Akitsushima Traditional Beliefs

Chief Deity: Tsubasa

Religion Description: For the most part, this religion has never taken hold outside of Akitsushima--why would it have? It does, after all, revere the Imperial family as guardian deities, and intermediaries with the other gods--those of the harvest, the weather, and so on. Though the family as a whole make for divine mediums, it's the Empress herself who is considered to be the islands' guardian--and, thus, the one that would be most recognisable as a god in the outside world.

And one last thing before I stop making setting stuff. Something a bit more light-hearted than the Elven Mongol Hordes.
Race Name: Pixies

Race Description: The bigger cousin of those tiny things that hover around flowers, they share many of the same traits. For instance, they're all girls, they can fly, and they really like woodland and meadow. They're a bit more varied, physically, in that some of them don't have wings and those that do aren't restricted to dragonfly wings.

Their size comes with an increase in intelligence, making it a lot easier to talk with a pixie as they're much less likely to misunderstand you or get horribly distracted. They are still, however, small: all pixies are pre-pubescent girls, no matter how old or mature they are.

Since they're nature spirits and caretakers of areas of wilderness (as opposed to specific plants), pixies have innate magical talents governing gardening, and those that leave their homes are in high demand for such roles and farming. One of Karstberg's parks is so huge and extensive that its main gardener claims to have been born there--and this would make it the first artificial setting to give rise to a pixie and not just fairies.

As they share the same abilities--albeit stronger, origin, and natural language, the distinction between fairies and pixies is one of human devising. Technically the same creature, it's simply a way of differentiating between the tiny, flighty, and forgetful sort and the group who tend to make trees sit on top of you if you damage their homes.
