Wolf looked at him and pulled her phone out. "I'm fine...Jock must have yawned and I caught...it..." She curled up in the seat with her phone out. Her eyes were fighting to shut as she layed the jacket over her legs, the cabin a little cold for her.
She sighed, the dark shadows under her eyes showing up with them being closer together. She tossed her phone into her bag and said "Your ight...I'm useless like this..." She leaned her head back and was out cold in moments, the jacket still over her legs. Soon her head moved to his shoudler, her breathing even
Rex continued going through the database. Chupacabra... hupia... cherufe... huay chivo... nagual... the attack pattern doesn't fit any of them, he thought. Chupas drain blood; hupia kidnap babies; cherufe use fire; and if it was a huay chivo or nagual, there would be a lot more carnage, since they attack with claws and fangs.
"Banshee..." Rex muttered. "Kind of weird, but the pattern matches. But why would a banshee be in Central America? Aren't they usually found in western Europe?" Without taking his eyes from the screen, Rex placed a firm hand on Wolf's shoulder, and squeezed a pressure point at the base of her neck: the Vulcan nerve pinch.
Wolf said as he put his hand on her shoulder "True...but maybe its a...cross breed...or maybe it was forced to...move..." When he hit the nerve she sighed and passed out again, her head against his shoulder.
Rex dug into the banshee legend, considering Wolf's words as he searched. "Vulcan neck-squeezie-thingy?" asked Jock. Rex didn't even look up. "Yup." "I see. Carry on."Hours passed before they were over Costa Rica. It was a beautiful sight. Wolf's slept long enough, thought Rex, and shook her gently.
Wolf stirred and opened her eyes, blinking hard then looked at him. "Thanks...for that...when my mind gets going it can't really stop...where are we?" She sat up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes and rolling her neck.
"Costa Rica," answered Jock. "You slept the entire way here." "Well," said Rex, "maybe half the way. The other half, you were simply unconscious from the Vulcan nerve pinch." He checked the file. "We should be getting close to our destination. Any landing strip, Jock?" "Nope," he answered. "There's a reason this is a sea plane." "Wonderful."
Wolf looked out the window and said "I haven't been here in years...I forgot how lovely it is...hopefully we can stop the blood shed. So what did you find on our target?"
"Right now, actually," Jock answered. The sea plane descended towards the ocean below. The water was so clear, Rex could see shoals of small fish, and even a few sharks, perhaps four to six feet in length. "I'm suddenly in the mood for seafood..." muttered Rex.
Rex nodded as the plane coasted on the water. He jumped out into the shallows, ignoring the water getting into his shoes. "I've never seen the ocean," he said. "Only in pictures, but not in person. It's... pretty cool."
Avery jumped out onto the wing and said "I have...but you still can't ever get used to the sight..." She looked back and said "Jock? The normal meet up spot? This case shouldn't take long"
