He's basically ordering Bride's body to calm down, so in a sense it should work. Don't question it too much, it might be the only way to keep Bride alive.

Yeah, my medical knowledge isn't that good, I just had Revan act. I thought Cardiac arrest was when the heart starting pumping to fast or something, I didn't know the cells died. How does that even work?

Plus remember Revan's domination ability, it is an order that can't be easily resisted, and since Bride isn't in a resistant frame of mind, it will seep into his body to slow his heart rate and breathing and shit.
