*phew*

I just finished off the entire Government and Economy tab for my nation, with a large amount of detail. The history is largely written but I still need to copy and paste it all from our history pad. I'll do that stuff sometime in the coming days; in the meantime, any thoughts on what I have so far?

@CycloneYou realize that almost 2/3rds of the territory you occupy is an inhospitable desert based on the geography map we have ?

What geography map?

I don't remember any such thing in the OP, and I don't think applying it now if nobody had a clue about it is fair or sane.

It is in the interest check thread. The deserts boundaries are also shown on the blank version of the map we used though after checking the white map it is smaller the geography version of the map makes it look larger

I'm largely ignoring that map, except for the mountains. The Commonwealth has large regions of savanna and lush jungle (look at the Amazon rainforest; it's on the equator) as well as a few more moderate woodlands and such. But I didn't completely ignore that my nation is on the equator; their national symbol is the Moravian lion and a major ethnic group of the people are dark-skinned Machakans. The rest are the ancestors of people who came from the north or south in mass migrations or just colonized the region in a manner similar to how the Phoenecians founded the colony that would later become the empire of Carthage.

Edit: Actually, only the northeast corner of that part you marked is desert even on that map. The majority is highlands, which would fit nicely with my description of slightly more temperate woodland or savanna.

@Gig@CycloneYeah, the desert area is lot less than 2/3rd of your area.Albeit it isn't completely insignificant, either.
It takes up the centermost part of your territory with a size almost equal to Gig's Setra.
On the other hand I think you can take advantage of this and your diverse lands.
Also the geographical map actually has a scale for us to use so I can more accurately estimate how large my population should be.
Keep in mind though that circa 20% of my population is elvish whithin the core worlds which would obviously shift the demographics.

@Willy Vereb@Cyclone

I thought one of the main reasons we went for the map was the geography since we wanted a map that wasn't blank it was even one of the main points you raised Cyclone if I recall.

I was wrong on the deserts area but it is still massive hilariously over a quarter of the it is in the PRK lol.

I did and do prefer the map mainly because the presence of mountains makes for more natural looking borders and varied land.

I don't deny there being some desert, just nowhere to the extent that you showed it where it was 2/3 of my nation. And anyways Voltus said we could have some creative leeway when it came to that map, so that desert is going to be mild in most parts. Think of wooded heathes with acacia, big watering holes, and massive oil wells raping the land for her resources!

That was a really bad estimate but I assumed the desert was the entire area east of the river delta on the geography map I then checked the white map and learned I was wrong but I had already posted.

Interestingly if you kept the desert the way it is supposed to be. Other than the strip of territory you own to the north it provides you a natural defense against the 3 of the 4 nations bordering you.

I think your estimate on the desert is still a bit large, what is your assumption on? Either my carthography skills fail me or those thin greyish lines are rivers to saturate the land.

anyways the scale confirmed it, dammit.
My core territory is nearly as large as the USA, again.
Assuming fertile lands my core territory and my nearest vassal together could support even 500 million people.

I used the paint feature to fill in the area marked Jirachi desert lol

If you're USA sized that is ridicules your core is about 150% bigger than my nation that would make my island huge like the the size of Texas :/

Care to find th figures for my land as well?

I was thinking that 250 million people would be reasonable, but IMO super infrastructure to make up for my lack of colonies mean that I should have a large population, perhaps the largest in the continent.

It is, though your colonies, technology, and naval power make you not so much of a pushover. Still, 50 million seems a more reasonable number.

You should probably pick a real life country from that time period who you are most like then choose that as your population, then if your a none human species do a rough estimate on your birthrate compared to a human then add a few million or take away a few million based on that.
