My idea is to use the setting, races, spells, and the like from D&D books, but in a non-mechanics-based, Free-roam RP like we're used to here. I'd like to hold a poll to see what setting and edition people want to base this off of the most, and build it from there.

Settings to vote from:
1. Faerun(Any Edition)
2. Greyhawk(2nd and 3rd/3.5)
3. Eberron(3rd, 3.5, 4th, 5th)
4. Planescape(2nd)
5. Spelljammer(2nd)
6. Dark Sun(2nd, 3rd(third-party books), 3.5(third-party books), 4th)
7. Dragonlance(2nd, 3rd, 3.5)
8. Nentir Vale(Points of Light)(4th)

Editions to vote from(not for mechanics, but for available source material such as races, spells, etc.):
1. 2nd Edition
2. 3rd Edition/3.5 Edition
3. 4th Edition
4. 5th Edition

I would do any of them. I am willing to learn anything to keep up. I know the most about 5e.

@SophrusI was actually unaware that there were 3.5e spelljammer books. My old DM used the general 2e to 3.5e conversion book to run it.

Dragonlance

Well, I just meant the 3.5 in general. And I've always wanted to do a spell jammer campaign. So it's probably a horrible idea but, I thought I would try.

I'll say Dragon lance as a secondary.. buts it's been a very long time since I've read any of those books.

2nd Edition, Faerun. Greyhawk's not so bad, either.
