Well, Road and I did a collaboration for our opening post. It's taking place away from what happened to the German family but we'll lead up to it after a few others get their posts in.

@Monochromatic Rainbow It was Roadrash and I, we were plotting and writing together for an opener and we worked on it much of the evening even before the opening post went up. I'm shooting for connecting with the story in my next post or so, based off what other people write.

My numero uno tip if you want a large word count; just go into detail! As in Tolkien amounts of detail, describing what people are wearing, what their actions are, their surroundings. If you do so, you will soon find that the number of words and the post length gets far larger than you first anticipated. ;)

Now, who is next?

I've been accused of that.

Edit: Shut up, Road.

@Sterling Not really no, I keep an eye on things and intervene when/where I see fit, then I move everything along. Until then, feel free to post, generally go about your business - I expect everyone to eventually get to the site of the massacre, one way or another.

I'm sure Bill would be more than happy to join on with any posse intending to go out and see what's what. It's his home, after all, and as a long-time member of the community it wouldn't be the first time he's volunteered for such duties.

Starting to feel a little insecure about the length of my opening post, among other things I'm afraid I've spent a little too long in the worlds of Hemmingway, and I've noticed a significant drop in my paragraph count ever since... I'll purple up what I can.

Seriously. Is this really such a big deal? Write how you want to write and get over the length.

I'd just like to interject here regarding our first post, since it seems some people are weirded out by the length.

That isn't what we're going to consider standard for this RP. It was an establishing scene meant not only to explain where our characters were and what they were doing, but to illustrate their prior relationship (they've been working together for a few months now) and to get us in a position where we can be immediately involved in whatever is going down in town.

Is it long? Yes. It's a collaborative post by two people that, were it not meant as an establishing scene, we probably would have broken down into a couple of posts and put up separately. We chose to have one of us do it all at once to get it out of the way, so everyone can get to the action. We aren't showing off, waving our dicks (well, Idle is female, so I guess I'm not waving my dick) or trying to set a high standard from the outset. We started it hours before the first post ever went up so that people would at least know where our characters were, what they were doing, and why they're in town that day instead of out in the middle of nowhere doing cowboy stuff.

Does this clear things up and maybe make people a little more comfortable with the length?
