Name: Ling Feng
Nickname: The Fang
Age;22
Gender: Male
Primary Elemant: Chi Blocking
Secondary Element: chi?
Appearance;;
Ling Feng is a non bender from the fire nation, having paler skin and black hair as most others of the area do. He wears red, loose fitting cloak on top of a tighter and more aerodynamic series of wraps and light padding. His eyes are red and vibrant. He stands at a tallish 5'11, with a slender build. He is owns a set of more formal clothes he keeps with him worn by wealthy fire nation nobles traditionally, but only wears them when his family meets him or he enters a city for the first time.
Likes: Fried anything, challenges (particularly races), acrobatics, plays, rice.
Dislikes: Bender supremacists, meditation, the cold, perverts, the air nomad lifestyle in general.
Strengths: Speed, precision, short term strength
Weaknesses: Low endurance, strong emotions,
Personality: Trained in a traditional style for years with no success, Ling has grown restless, constantly needed something to take his attention. He was never one for the meditation exercises, constantly skipping the energy working exercises that the benders around him would do not realizing they were for more than just bending practice. He is impulsive, slow to judge and quick to accept, too trusting at times and selfish to a point, but not an unhealthy level. He’ll gladly save his friends but often times causes trouble to find them because of his own actions.
Background: Born to the heir of his father’s impeccable bending legacy, being a personal guard of the emperor and one of the greatest fire benders of the nation, Ling started his life a disappointment. He had no bending ability whatsoever, not even a spark could erupt from his fingertips, but this didn’t mean his family didn’t love him. He was trained for years with the rest of the fire benders, despite not having the ability. His father could afford to keep him trained to fight at least, and so Ling did. He fought and fought a lot.
The problem was, he was fighting against benders, who had him beat on range, and even if he did touch them they still had fire, and his father was approached by one of the trainers after a particularly dangerous bout Ling was involved in, offering a specialized class just for the boy. Ling’s father didn’t even consult Ling, and simply handed his son over to this strange group of fire bender monks who promised to level the playing field. These monks taught the boy traditional chi blocking, and over the course of the next 14 years, he would come to almost master the art.
He returned to the fire nation academy at the age of 20, this time his peers knowing full well he was only in because of his father’s position. They ridiculed him, all of them. Ling didn’t pay them any mind. He knew he wasn’t more powerful than them or anything, but the playing field was in fact equal. When the group would spar, at first Ling only fought the worst of the worst. The soldiers barely passing their examinations, but it quickly became clear he could hold his own against the better trainees, and such he trained with some of the best in the class. He would go on to be expelled from the program after disabling the chi flow in a poor girl’s arm for life after a sparring match got heated due to some taunting on both sides. Ling doesn’t even know how he managed to do it but he holds it against himself and gladly accepted the punishment he received.
Exile for 3 years.
Extra: He isn’t royalty, but his last name is well known.
@Dirty Dan That's gonna be great in the RP.
"Hey Feng, what's up?"
Both:"What?"
Name;;
Tai Song
Nickname;;
None at the moment
Age;;
20
Gender;;
Male
Primary Elemant;;
Earth
Secondary Element;;
Seismic Sense - Tai learned this ability through his blinded sister, Chiya, the only other Earthbender in their family other than their father.
Appearance;;
Tai is very tall and athletically built, his skin olive in hue. His dusty brown hair seems to naturally grow upwards into what looks to be a less dramatic mix of a pompadour and a mohawk. His eyes, however, are much more dramatic; two bright gray irises with a faint, golden-brown ring circling his pupils. His face is mostly blemish free, save for the mole sitting just above his left eyebrow. For clothes, Tai keeps his attire simple and versatile. He can commonly be seen wearing his green, button up hooded jacket, which he leaves around his waist in warmer weather. With it, he'll often wear a tank top and a poofy pair of brown pants. To better protect himself while engaged in physical fights, he'll wear a pair of thick black gloves over his hands, and a sturdy pair of brown work boots.
Likes;;
-Reading (preferably dramas)
-Salty foods and snacks
-Animals, particularly larger, cuddlier ones
-Crafting or building different things (weapons, furniture, etc.)
-Cooking, despite not being very good at it
Dislikes;;
-Loud, repetitive sounds
-Sweet foods such as chocolates and cakes
-Dishonesty, or when people won't speak their minds
-Thunderstorms
-Hot weather
Strengths;;
-Optimistic, doesn't let the negatives discourage him too much
-Loyal and supportive of others
-High endurance, completely capable of fighting for long periods of time
-Seismic Sense allows him to anticipate certain movements, which makes him difficult to catch off-guard
Weaknesses;;
-Easily annoyed, frustrated, or agitated by others
-Can be honest to the point of coming off as rude
-Outright refuses to lead, due to being uncomfortable with such a role
-Awful at dodging attacks, as well as close combat
Personality;;
Tai is a very optimistic and supportive man, always trying to see the best in a situation or in other people, at first. He's also eager to please and eager to help others, especially those who need it the most. His temper tends to get in the way of all this though. Tai is very quick to frustrate and even anger, and once he's in one of his bad moods, it usually takes a while for him to come back out of it. He can also be very blunt and brutally straightforward, but at the same time, it's also unlikely for him to keep secrets or lie to other people.
On the up side, Tai is incredibly loyal to those he calls his friends or family, going so far as to put the desires and needs of others before his own at times. Additionally, he's great at taking orders, and would much rather follow than lead. And despite his hotheadedness, Tai is definitely not always a grouch. He's talkative, friendly, and although he's terrible at making jokes, it's easy to make him laugh, provided he's in a good mood.
Background;;
In his youth, Tai lived with his parents and four older sisters, along with two other large families in a moderately sized boarding home within the Lower Ring of Ba Sing Se. Although he was more similar to his father in terms of looks, he took after his mother's hot headed personality, often getting himself into fights and spats with other children his age. Despite the prescense of both of his parents throughout his early life, they were not the ones who truly raised him. His sisters were the ones who would look out for him, while his parents worked multiple jobs both day and night in order to provide for their family. Although Tai still cared deeply for his overworked mother and father, the relationship he had with his siblings eventually grew to be much stronger than the one he held with his parents.
Even though his parents worked tirelessly for hour on end, making ends meet was still difficult for the Song family. In order to lessen the burden on his family, Tai resorted to thievery, pilfering anything that he needed or wanted for himself. Through this, he ended up making friends with several other boys like himself, eventually forming a ragtag group of teens that terrorized the markets and shops of the Lower Ring. For a while, Tai took little to no issue with stealing from others. After all, almost everyone he knew was doing it, and so far, he had been doing it without any repercussions.
This all changed when he was eighteen, when he witnessed two of his good friends mug an elderly beggar for what little he had. As he watched his friends beat the poor old man, he felt incredible guilt and shame for all the times he'd stolen from others. After that night, he grew depressed not just over the incident, but from believing that he'd completely wasted his life making other people miserable for his own selfish reasons. It was his oldest sister, Siyu, who would help him through his depression, and eventually prove to him that even though he'd made mistakes in the past, he still had the chance to do good in the future. Although Tai never fully got over his guilt, he began to dedicate himself to helping others in his neighborhood. It was also through his sister that he gained a more positive outlook on life, giving him a renewed hope for the future.
Extra;;
Tai has some experience with building makeshifts shacks and repairing weapons, and he'll happily help make something if asked.
He keeps a black rucksack on his back, which carries all of his essentials, along with a book or two.
