I'm just thinking here but if the darkness is pretty much Necromancy to the extreme...won't Holy Light completely stop them in their tracks?

Not really. The creatures of the darkness are less undead and more lovecraftian horror. They aren't undead because they were never alive to begin with.

@Bright_Ops has got it right, they're not actually undead, so Divine Magic won't effect them anymore than it would any other non-Necromancy soldiers.

The way things are going, necromancy might gain an ability that is anti - darkness if only because there are going to be an insane amount of them on the front line against it. No divine nation has really had a go at it yet (and lived to tell about it).

Very true. There's only one Divine Magic using power left on the board and they're about as far from the Darkness as you can be! I was hoping ClocktowerEchoes would stick around, as the Holy Inperium would have made a good Divine front line, but what will be will be

I feel the need to ask, but can the Darkness breed on ocean tiles? Will a patch of ocean taken by the darkness produce more creature by itself or do the monsters need to be created on land and march into the sea?

@Bright_Ops The Darkness cannot increase in number in the sea province, instead imagine that they are continuously pushing in from the east/west respectively from an unknown point off board

@Mardox Not that there all that many NPC nations left, but theoretically they could. While the Darkness itself is a staggeringly large army of monsters, they are led by Arch-Lich who can look like any other Magi and be very convincing.
