Welcome

This is the character application thread for 'Wizard life.
Fairytail guild wars.'

Important:
Please note this is the only place you will post your character. Once approved I will move it into the game thread.

For ease of gaming and to avoid clutter characters will be found at the top of the OOC tab.

The in game Character tab has been repurposed to hold all matters that don't happen in the guild house ie; jobs and missions.

The IC tab is strictly the guild house. All events that happen there will be in the tavern. This is where you can meet others, find jobs, get paid and create adventuring parties.
(Not to mention sleep and eat.)

Characters & powers:
Wizard rating and advancement.
(Skills & magic)

____Novice_____.|.____Adept____.|.Journeyman.|._Prof_.|. ?
(D-, D, D+, E-, E,) | (E+ C-, C, C+,) | (B-, B, B+,) | (A-,A) | A+

Everyone starts off with 1 type of E level magic
and one E level skill
and an E level of combat ability.
(10points) you can lower one to raise the other. Alternatively you can lower either or both to create a new line of magic power abilities.

Alternatively if you wish you can replace magic or skill with super natural abilities or hidden wealth.
Ie; an E rank werewolf
a D rank inheritance

As a general rule for ties in magical ratings, the more specific the magic ability is the more stronger it will be compared to a magic that covers a wide diverse range of things.
Being fewer abilities to focus on you can train harder and put more energy into it.

While getting stronger isn't the aim of the roleplay, over time the wizards should develop and grow. Advancement will be through the purchase of lacrima which will be costly and needs the approval of a GM.
Important:
There will be a limit of one advancement per a month per character, and even that will be rare! It requires high level of involvement and running well laid out jobs for others.

Jobs!
Money - the great motivator.
Guild life, ever real time Wednesday 50 rubies will be subtracted from each player for the general expenses and lodging at the guild.
During your role play you may build more expenses or even an income to counteract it, but the main source of lively hood will be jobs!
You need to work to survive!

GM's will put up jobs in the tavern for players to take but players are also welcome to host their own! (Even encouraged to do so.)

The average E level job should see each character bring back 100 - 200 rubies (depending how many posts were put into it.) but as always, there are expenses and moral dilemmas along the way! Bigger party jobs can fetch up to 500 each.

Character sheets.
Layout.

While the IC posts can be short paragraphs I do ask for quite a bit when it comes to character sheets and applications.

Picture
Quotes
Name
Age
Appearance (height, weight, clothing, ect.)
Colour and location of symbol
Power/s
Personality
History
Reason for joining

Is there a list for magics I can choose from or I can make my own. And how will the jobs proceed? I could write a long post about me slaying the beast and getting the rubies coming back in time to do 5 others jobs like that. Meaning I could get at least 600+ If I did 6 jobs a day. And what's the point of advancement going so slowly? Will we stay with level E combat/magic powers for at least a month before we can upgrade it to stronger ones?

@Bishop You don't run your own jobs. You can tag along but you will be running it for other players. Only GM's and Co-GM's can run high paying jobs and it's also their duty to ensure no one is 'gold digging' and will step in with hidden expenses and taxes if required.

The only reason there is a levelling system at all is to give the long standing active members reward/authority/acknowledgement over new-comers. Hence stating it shouldn't be the goal of the game. It's also to replicate the wizard ranking system from the show.

There will be small stories and occasionally bigger ones that affect the entirety of the guild. It's about building your character and guild rep.

As for powers it helps if you are familiar with the show but if not that is ok.
Let me know what you want and if there is any issues we can work on it.

No there is no one picked, this is as far as the concept has got so far.
And you don't really need to watch the show to join in, I'm just copying the concept.
So I welcome your help and look forward to your character :D

This sounds pretty neat. I have never seen the show or tried to do a RP with stats like this, so I'm not 100% sure if I understand the leveling process. I've also not beenough a GM before, so theres that. Lol I may do a character if I can think of something. (May have to have you help me out)@Dark Light

Also guys, I don't want this to actually be the fairytail guild.
So once we get 4 or 5 players interested I will start asking you to name and design it. So there will be an element of base building as well.
You will have to look after it's reputation and help handle recruits.

@Dark Lightshouldn't be a problem to make it our own seeing as how at least two of us don't watch the show lol
When I have time I will write down my more specific questions. I was out all day pulling trucks, so I only had a chance to read through it ^^

@Dark Light Who would be working at this guild?

The guild is essentially a job agency, they take on work and give it out to its members, everyone will be expected to take on some of these jobs eventually.
There are a very broad range of tasks that are handed to the guild but guild reputation can dictate and influence the majority.

As for internal jobs there will be the guild leader.
He organises the work that the guild accepts and puts up the jobs on the job boards.

The rest becomes purely optional depending on the type of guild you barter for.
There could be a care taker.
A bar maid.
A cleaner.
A stable hand.
An accountant.
Resident bard.

The list is endless.
They all come with pros and cons. Cons mostly being cost.

I'm hovering in the doorway, so to speak. I can't guarantee I will join, but it does sound interesting! I'll keep an eye on the progress and depending on my current IRL responsibilities, I may be able to dedicate some time to the RP. My only question right now is about powers. I guess what exactly constitutes as a power for each level. You say we start with an E level skill and combat ability, but what are the choices for that?

@RaeoftheLight
Yay! Hi Rae.

It's really a just comparative thing.
But your right, a suggested guideline example would be good.
I'll work on that soon.

An E rank can still be flashy or a strong power but if it comes up against a B rank power (or wizard with B rank) he will probably overcome it.

I really don't want to limit people's imagination or ideas with the ranking system but you need to accept that some people will be better in certain area's.
Ideally you should try imaging the absolute height of your power and also the simplest foundations of it and move between there.
But at the same time I wouldn't complain if you used the same 4 attack spells that just slowly became stronger.

:/ hope that helped.
I'll have examples up soon ;)

Yes, it helped. I think! So my understanding is that it is either just your power is low or your spell is low level, but that it can grow in power as your wizard does. An E rank healing magic wizard could know the same or a similar spell as a C rank healing wizard, but the difference in magic power behind the spell depends on their ranking.
