@Rex Oh, by the way, it occurs to me to ask whether or not we'll be able to acquire Pokemon other than our partners, or whether it's just that partner for the whole game. That might affect whether or not new players join this game, and/or what Pokemon they take up as their partner.

EDIT: A few more questions:
1. Given that TMs and HMs are kind of like CD discs, and players can carry around a whole bunch in the Pokemon games, would it be permissible for players to acquire a whole bunch and use them to replace a Pokemon's moves as necessary?
2. How closely does this game's logic follow that of real life? For example, could players ride on the back of a sufficiently-large flying Pokemon even if it doesn't know the move Fly, e.g. for regular old slow travel as appropriate? Could they ambush or snipe opponents for afar with their Pokemon, or do the trainers have to engage in fair fights even if they'd rather not? How free-form are battles, i.e. do they run more like the games or the anime?
3. How necessary are HMs? Will they be mandatory, semi-mandatory, or unnecessary for progress, granted that if HMs are mandatory for progress, that basically encourages the use of HM slaves as in the games?

@BCTheEntity

I had thought about players having more then one partner. I was going to give them two more down the road in the RPG to help with the battles since I'm going with the first season of Digimon's consent were the Dark one controls other Pokemon with some kind of device. now that you bring it up I might edit the CS because I'm thinking each player could get four Pokemon partners. three non legionaries and one legendary.

For the TM's and HM's. I actually was going to use them as digital codes scattered around the world that can be scanned with the players phones. also, since we all know once a Pokemon uses a TM or HM they lose the attack they replace with the TM or HM. I was going to have a sort of storage system for attacks were the trainer can still keep all the attacks their partner knows so they can simply swap out attacks without losing any attacks.

as for Fly, surf and abilities like that. I'll allow players to ride on their Pokemon, but only if the Pokemon can carry their trainers. also, Pokemon that can already fly can carry their trainers, but only for a short period of time. if they wish to go longer, they'll need Fly for that.

TM's and HMs' will be scattered all over the world, but for many of the parts in the RPG. some TM's will be necessary, but NPCs will help in finding aid HM's or TM's.

I hope this helps and I'm not too confusing on my logic.

Unsure on whether I'll join, but I've got a few questions regardless.

1. You didn't answer whether battles can be fought pragmatically and realistically, e.g. ambushing an enemy and sniping him before he can fight back. Can we do this sort of thing, or do battles have to be fair and square for some reason?

2. You said that TMs can be found scattered around the world. But can my Pokemon partner's moveset include TM moves it can learn but I don't have the TMs for yet, or does it have to be limited to the moves it can naturally learn? Similarly for egg moves and tutored moves.

3. How important is type coverage going to be? I'd prefer to go for some kind of thematic, specialized team, but not if it's completely nonviable compared to a generalist team with wide coverage.

Battles will be realistically. Typing will play a major factor in the battles. Many Pokemon will have a major advantage against their opponents. ambushes and strategies like that will be needed to fight the various Pokemon under the Dark Ones control. I'll allow your Pokemon partner to know at least two TM's or HM's. I'll allow egg moves as well. A type coverage team will definitely be good. A type coverage team could be the difference between defeat and victory.

This thought just popped up in my mind, but will the Pokemon be able to speak the human language, or will the Digital World allow humans to understand Pokemonese?

Another question.

The trainers being the squishy, weak humans that they are, are they going to be subject to various environmental hazards and dangerous effects of Pokemon powers? For example, exploring a lava cave and dying from the extreme heat. Worse, what about Psychic 'mons using their mind-altering powers on the humans? It's been explicitly shown in the anime that these powers can indeed affect humans. What's stopping a player from, say, having a Malamar, and then mind controlling all of the other players in their sleeps when they aren't expecting it? The Dark One could use similar tactics to ambush and eliminate the humans, who are clearly the weakest links in their Pokemon teams.

well since the trainers are being digitized to enter the Pokemon world. they're technically not squishy and made of flesh anymore, but made of 1' and 0's. so the elemental hazards have no effect on them. unless they fall in lava. then they die. Also, since they have Pokemon partners they have protection from any Pokemon wanting to take over their mind and body.

@JohnSolaris@Loony@ianzerep@BCTheEntity@sMoKe
also, I'm going to let players have up to three Pokemon partners. if yo wish to have three just ad them to your character sheet. however, you'll start out with one partner and acquire the other two over time.

Are our other pokemon allowed to have Third Stage Evolutions as well? Also, I'm thinking of using a Espeon, with it's Mega having an Ability like this:

Element Mastery - All damaging moves with 80 Power and below gain STAB, regardless of move typing.

so the elemental hazards have no effect on them. unless they fall in lava. then they die.

So what exactly determines what's harmful and what's not? For example, lava is only 700 to 1200 degrees Celsius. What if a room's temperature is hotter than that, but doesn't have lava? What about other types of hazards, e.g. acidic vapor vs. pools of acid?

For consistency, I'd suggest that a human's digital body has damage resistance that scales with the levels of their Pokemon partner(s). So as the Pokemons grow stronger, so do the humans, and can survive in harsher conditions.

Does a human's digital body regenerate from damage as well? Say, if a character gets his arm cut off or something. And can it purge extraneous substances from itself, e.g. a Pokemon's poison?

@JohnSolaris@Rex
Assuming that this rp will be parallel to both shows (the events in Pokemon: Indigo League and Digimon S1), which it has been so far, harmful things to the human body are still "harmful".

Take, for instance, whatever Koffing/Weezing uses frequently throughout (Smog, I think). It is a poison-type move, therefore possesses some poisonous attribute. Yeah, the characters cough, hack, and have their visibility limited to about zero, but it does no lasting damage. Therefore, I doubt "purging" will be an issue.

By the same basis, temp in both Digimon and Pokemon have effects on real and digital beings. Deserts cause characters physical discomfort, cold things feel cold, etc. regardless of whether they are digital or not. Extremes can obviously cause death.

Since we will be in the digital world, damage would most likely be handled by the same basis. Digimon can be stabbed, shot, etc. Though I doubt, regardless how strong the trainers digimon was, the trainers themselves could survive. Might be weird to scale survivability. Though, admittedly, I cant think of anything better.

Just some thoughts.

yeah, the other two can have a three stage evolution if you chose. the ability sounds good, just so long you don'y abuse it. I'm cool with it.

@JohnSolaris
the human who get's digitized becomes a sort of Pokemon type himself. there for they are subjected to poison and other hazards, but also can be healed by the various berries, and potions around the world. I do like your idea about as the Pokemon grows so does the digitized human. So yeah, they'll be able to grow stronger like their Pokemon partners.

Secondary Partner/s:

"Velvet"
Gender: Male
Nature : Timid
Alert to Sounds

Evolution appearance:

Basic:

First Evolution:

Second Evolution:

Third Evolution: (Optional)

This is the second addition to little Tammie's squad! He's a little shy, but he'll warm up to you... eventually...

I changed the Ability effect from the earlier proposal to a variant of "Tinted Lens", which makes Not Very Effective attacksdo Neutral Damage. This makes a little more sense with the "Element Balance" theme I'm giving the Mega Espeon (And a hell of alot more balanced. Anything with 80 power would've had a STAB power of 120) . :P His Special Attack is pretty much a slightly stronger, reflavored Freeze-Dry.

Edit: Whoops, I have apparently copied sMoke's Celesteon face claim. I changed it to something different to differentiate the evolution lines.

Name: Kurosawa Hikaru (黒澤 輝).

Age: 22.

Gender: Male.

Phone Type: Jailbroken iPhone 6s Plus.

Pokemon Partner:

Trainer Appearance:

Other:
- Hikaru's grandparents were immigrants from Japan. He was born in Canada, and does not actually know how to fluently speak Japanese. But he's interested in Japanese culture, especially modern pop culture such as anime and manga.
- Hikaru has a tulpa, an independent, sentient consciousness in his brain that he created through sheer force of will; her name is Mirai (ミライ). She is in a romantic relationship with him, and they genuinely love each other.
- Hikaru is introverted, cynical, and mistrustful, and thus dislikes most forms of social interactions. Mirai, on the other hand, is cheerful and optimistic, and has a significant number of friends online. She is the only reason why Hikaru hasn't become a total shut-in. Of course, the few real life acquaintances of Hikaru's do not know of Mirai's existence, as he is convinced that they'll only label her as a delusion, a mental illness, or worse.
- Hikaru is a skilled lucid dreamer, and has an intensely powerful imagination, capable of voluntarily inducing hallucinations of all five senses in himself that are virtually indistinguishable from reality. He uses this to "interact" with Mirai.
- Hikaru is currently a fourth-year computer science student in university. He wishes to do research in artificial intelligence, and hopes to eventually find a way to let Mirai physically exist outside his brain.

I've slightly modified the sheet for Tex-Mex and Specs in the characters tab; the changes are mostly formatting to make it look cleaner, but I've also removed the whole "X/Y" split for Volcarona, which doesn't really make sense to me in retrospect, and slightly altered the stat gains for Mega Volcarona to reflect how Megas don't generally get extra HP when evolving, so if @Rex could reconfirm that everything is alright for that, I'd appreciate it. That said, since we will be allowed other partners in the future, I'll likely come up with a mini-sheet for a Greninja in the near future. Stay tuned.
