It's complicated. They weren't gotten rid of. A lot of people left during repeated site issues. Others just don't bother posting very often because the forum games overpower the Spam threads.

Techs I was lowkey one of those old assholes, and I was just saying that Mahz was trying for years to get Spam under control and it finally seemed to happen. Tho according to Awson it was just the age of time nothing Mahz specifically did.
