Keystone

Location: Crossed Swords Inn & Tavern
Interacting With: Cyneburg (and whoever else is still in the room)

"Not that I ain't full appreciatin' the offer, Miss Cyneburg," replied Keystone, looking to the Half-Orc lady who had just made the offer to repair his coat. "but last time I got a split the bloke what fixed it used waxed rawhide cord an' treated the spot with heated oil. Only place I'd know where to find that stuff's at a leathershop. And long as I'm there..." He shrugged, "If'n the craftsman's can't take me immediate, I'd be obliged to ya, lots." Granted, there were some differences between working whole cloth and tooled, hardened leather, but a cable stitch was a cable stitch. It would be more important for his coat to be a optimally functional protective device than for it to have polished and pretty seams. Unless the broad pugilist were underestimating the handiwork of their resident Druid.

Now, what he really wanted done was to have the coat lined with the material of the cloak that Sana was kind enough to procure for him from their previous travels. Such an item would be very useful, offering the respectable physical protection as well as resistance to fire and heat. Sadly, there was no time for it that day. It was a fleeting commodity, time, and with daylight burning their allotment to get underway was getting smaller and smaller by the second. Such a tailoring feat, done properly, might likely take much longer than that. Not that he was a proper judge for a seamstress.

"Right, hows 'bout you join me? Mayhap we can find somethin' useful whilst we're out, what we ain't thought on yet. Keep an eye out, like. And if'n you know leather, make sure the knob what's sellin' ain't takin' a chisel to me." Keystone picked up his coat and made for the door, yet again. "Got an hour, right?" his tone was all business. "I'm gettin' a move on, then."

No saltpeter? What self-respecting alchemical shop carries no saltpeter? And the reason for the stock? Pishposh, Saltpeter had no such effects. Did it? Something to investigate further, although not in front of good company. A slight color took to the cheeks at the mention of that particular use. Satilla after all a... Never mind, maybe herbalists wouldn't know such a rumored use for nitrates. Maybe the hint the old codger suggested escaped her, although the impotence of a wizard's wand... Well there were potions made specifically for that. Using a combination of rare fish oils, alkalized quicklime, fumes of aqua fortis, and about four other reagents and complex techniques to get tiny amount of usable product for all the materials and time put in. Not that it took much for it to work, but there were more readily available remedies. Which brought Thomas to the idea of substituting a fire beetle in lieu of a fire scarab. Honestly they were the same thing right?

"Mrs. Fritzgivens at the wax shop then?" What horrific uses did she have for 50 grams of purified saltpeter? The sorcerer mused on, saltpeter after all was a rather versatile reagent to use and went by many names. "Okay I'll go see if she still has some. I won't need a lot of fire beetle, I don't even know if it'll work..." Oh, a lie? The old man would lie to Thomas? A man who requested the elements to create an explosive device like a shopping list? Then again, maybe the old shopkeeper was already slightly senile and forgot when he had inventory? Then again there wasn't much inventory to track was there? The bare bones picked nearly clean, but think of all the money he ought to have had selling everything.

"Maybe he's already gone a bit, you know... Off?" Thomas suggested the failing memory was the blame in a hush to his female companion. "Did he have anything else good yesterday that went missing?" Thomas pondered a bit preening his hair with a hand as a wicked thought came to him. A suspicion of who else could be magically inclined in the village? This man had the stock to conduct some rituals after all, and evidently the good stuff was hidden in the back room. Or maybe that wax-shop owner...

Cyneburg

Location: Crossed Swords Tavern
Interacting with:Keystone

The fact that Keystone wanted whatever he was looking to accomplish done within the hour explained why he was so keen on getting some form of professional. Sure Cyne would probably be able to get things done more cheaply, but it would take quite a bit of time to procure the materials needed and prepare them adequately (a day at the absolute minimum if forced to harvest them directly from nature). She wasn't sure if he'd be able to get what he wanted done in that timeframe even if they could find a suitable leather worker, but it wouldn't hurt to try.

"I'll be right with you, I just need to grab a few things from my room." Cyne had almost followed him right out of the tavern when she felt the frigid breeze rush in from outdoors. She'd forgotten that most of her things were still in the room. Keystone didn't seem like the kind of guy to wait around, so she made a point of hustling to the room and getting equipped as quickly as possible, so if he didn't stop, she would be able to find him again. A couple minutes of lead time would be pretty easy to catch up or track, hopefully. Those with monk training were often a lot fleeter of foot and stealthier than they let on.

Kyra & Sana

Location: Cross Swords Tavern/Apothecary/Merchant/Smithy
Interacting With: Various
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"Yes, like that will do," Kyra said as she took the knuckles that Keystone had trusted her with. Turning them over in her hand as she examined the workmanship. The carvings in them seemed to stand out more now because of the silver inlay. It was crude work at best and she wondered just how long the silver would remain intact but it was better than nothing, especially considering the amount of time they had to get everything taken care of.

"Are you sure? I could do better if you would be willing to give me more time," the smithy said cocking a brow. He had not thought the quick pour would be satisfactory. He had wanted to work the metal some but Kyra had nearly forbidden it.

"I'm sure. This will do, now for the rest," she said. The smithy and jeweler looked at each other for a moment before shrugging and getting back to work. It seemed like they wanted to argue the point a bit more but the Direwolf sitting next to the woman and licking his chops was all the determent they needed.

Sana looked around the general store. It seemed to be sparsely stocked but that didn't surprise her. With the attacks she had been told about supplies to restock the shelves were most likely few and far between. Just as they seemed to be in the Apothecary. The old man coming back up with a a cloth covered object he held by a single wrought iron ring. Setting it down gently on the counter he looked over to Satilla and cocked a brow. "You must be mistaken, I have none," he said as he turned and pointed to the line of jars on the shelves.

Shaking his head a bit he pulled the cloth away from what turned out to be a glass lined cage. In it were six fire beetles. "Now, here we are. These should work. Though you might just want to kill the little buggers and forget about a potion," he said as they crawled around. They were rather large for an insect but still small compared to most animals. Their glands will shine bright for 1-6 days after they are dead. Miners use them a lot when underground and in the dark. Will shed light for about a ten foot radius out from each gland. Rather useful."

Satilla Valen

Location: The Apothecary.

Satilla didn't reply to Thoma's suggestion as of the reason why the store keeper denied possessing the ingredient and frankly the witch herself didn't buy his excuse and the suggestion that she was the one who was wrong about this. Satilla was many things and most of those she was ready to admit, someone who mistook things wasn't something she did often. It wasn't impossible, but she didn't buy it. She just threw a look about, but didn't say anything still. She just kept quiet as she took a few steps back, letting the sorcerer to deal with the apothecary and the remaining ingredients. She was going to have to mention this suspicious act to Kyra later.” Don't think so...” She replied with a whisper to the sorcerer. Frankly she just happened to notice it yesterday, she was more concentrated about healing herbs of all varieties at that time. No way she could completely memorize a never before visited Apothecary from one visit. Brief visit at that.

β€œThomas I suppose this could work too.” She stated with a neutral smile when the man explained the use for the dead beetles. She threw a glance at Thomas with questioningly arched eyebrow as if asking for confirmation of the man's words.

This was pretty precarious situation and given she was sure he just lied to her about the saltpeter for some reason, she'd take his words with a grain of salt.

Fire beetles. And not just one, but six. Now Thomas dropped all pretense of getting a decent deal and eyed those beauties with easily discernable awe. Once more that kid in a candy store, or in this case an apprentice in a wizard's shop, those eyes alit with curious wonder, the moment those beetles hit the counter. Each rodent-sized beetle pulsating their glands as they scurried in their confinement. Taking those brightened eyes at a single beetle and watching it crawl from one end to the other of the glass cage, intimately watching with utter fascination. Poor blighters would have to die to make this work, maybe Thomas could keep one alive, keep it as a live specimen? To study of course. Still though a young mage's finger couldn't help but follow one of the insects from the other side of the glass.

"Wow. Six? These are excellent beetles Sir. Where did you acquire them from? These might just work Satilla." A curious boy gave a nod to Satilla, confirming beetles did have the glands the elder spoke of and their properties seemed about right. Or at least what of Thomas could remember reading of them, there were so many insects to account for. One of the more numerous of the animal kingdom, and long when humans are gone, it would be they who inherit the earth. Hopefully Satilla would be the warier of the two given Thomas' seemingly cast off suspicions the moment the beetles were presented with the flare of a showman probably about to con a young man from his money. "And what about the other ingredients? I mean I think I can get away with extracting the gland from the beetle, and crushing the rest of the shell as a powder. I'd need some help of course Satilla, I mean it's a dry potion this time around so it'll be easy."

"It's a shame we have kill one of them. But how much for the lot Sir?" With all the innocence of a man hooked on buying, Thomas finally looked up from his beetles, yes his beetles as if he had already purchased them all. "And for the sulfur, phosphorus and a small gem too if you could be so kind as to measure them out on your scales Sir. I think have the tubes for you..." And with some rummaging, Thomas produced two empty sample tubes from his alchemist's kit, each stoppered with a bit of cork and placed on the table. Hopefully they'd be able to catch that wax shopkeeper too and nab some of her salty Peter.

Keystone

When the broad individual known by mere mortals as Keystone approaches a stranger, it usually invokes a reaction. Sometimes that reaction is negative. Depending upon his mood, sometimes grown men wet themselves and offer over monies in hopes of returning home to their families intact. Keystone rarely accepted these peace offerings, it was too much like petty theft for his liking. Rarely. It had been known to happen, especially if he was hungry. As he had to ask a couple of people directions to the nearest leather worker, he got to see the reactions of the people of Salarn.

It turns out, when there is an army of walking corpses intent on doing unspeakable things in your hometown, the approach of a huge (but living) guy doesn't have quite the same impact. While viewed with some suspicion, the usual unease from common people unfamiliar with him did not have the edge it ordinarily did, and so he was able to get directions to the nearest crafter of animal skins in short order.

A few more minutes found him indoors, staring at the Friendly Neighborhood Leather Guy. Keystone shrugged the coat off of his shoulder and onto the counter nearby. He took a quick look around, then cleared his throat to announce his presence. "Allo then." he began, stepping back a bit as to not seem threatening. "Gonna be straight wit ya. Me an' some friends've taken a hit on account of the troubles about. Coat's got some sword damage. Plus a bit of... ah, shrapnel, too. Can you fix it in an 'alf hour? We're anxious to get back at it, on the quick." Keystone reached into the coat's pockets, hidden behind solid leather segments like the ones from which he produced his brass knuckles earlier that morning. He removed from them, and quickly slipped into his pants pockets, another set of knuckle dusters, these a smooth but lusterless ebon-black.

"I've got good silver on me, if'n you need it up front."

Much as the remora swims under the shadow of a shark, so too did Cyne follow around Keystone in his search for a leather worker. She did her best to keep her more orcish features hidden. Sure nobody in the party cared what blood flowed through her veins, but the townsfolk who were being attacked by the orcs just down the road would probably think differently. Better not to chance it. Part of her just wanted to turn into a bird and perch on Keystone's shoulder like the parrots from the stories about pirates she'd been told as a child.

"One more thing," Cyne chimed in after Keystone' request as she stepped out from behind his silhouette. For the duration of the conversation up to this point, Cyne had likely remained hidden entirely without intending to due to the man's sheer mass in relation to her own.

"I'd like to purchase some rawhide if you have any. I don't need any particular size, but one that's not too big would be preferable." It would be cheaper to simply buy the raw material she needed for repairs/replacement clothes. And one thing she new she would be able to make quickly enough given the available timeframe was a replacement veil. She had spent far too long with a naked face, and although it wouldn't be up to snuff with what she'd normally wear, it would do for the time being.

Kyra & Sana

Location: Merchant/Smithy
Interacting With: Various
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Kyra sat down on an empty barrel and waited for the job to be done of the various items she had brought in, slowly running her fingers her Ash's fur as he rested his head in her lap. Over at the Merchant Sana was haggling over the price of torches with the shop keeper, not about to pay more for them than they were worth. Especially considering the fact she could take a few materials and make them herself. Right then she was just in a hurry to get everything taken care of before the hour was up but not in so much of a hurry that she was about to pay gouging prices on anything.

The apothecary eyed Thomas for a moment but gave him a slight smile. "A dealer never reveals his sources," he said as he leaned down and looked at the lot. If he told them how he got them or whom he got them from there was a chance they would walk right out of the shop and seek them elsewhere in hopes of saving some coin. It wasn't anything against them, just a general rule of the trade. You never gave away your sources.

"As far as the rest, I have everything but the salt peter. That I can get together quickly for you without trouble," he said as he righted himself, drumming his fingers on his chin when asked about the price for the beetles. "Fifteen copper for each, 90 for the lot; and cage," he said. It was a fair price.

Picking up the coat the leather worker gave it a once over, poking his fingers through the holes in it before nodding. "Yeah, I can have this ready in that time frame," he said before glancing over towards Cyneburg. "Sure thing Miss, over there, pick what you need," he said pointing to an arch way that connected him with the seamstress shop. There were bins filled with pieces of leather, other fabrics, and sewing implements such as needles of various sizes and threads of differing thickness and strength.

Looking back at the coat he finished going over it before resting it back down. "That be 25 copper for the job."

She nodded towards Thomas as she too was looking with almost studying like manner over the beetles that they were just supplied with. That certainly put things in quite the perspective. This was a lot easier to gain use out off. Just needed to kill the things and they'd be provided with light. A lot more efficient time wise than creating a potion for it. That said it didn't mean it would be the most pretty sight cause killed and cut opened insects tended to get gooey.

β€œI will help you with that, don't worry.” She replied to Thomas, still keeping a discreet, but serious expression on the merchant. There was something she wasn't liking here and she wasn't sure what it was. That was the worst situation to be in.

She didn't really want to give in to the man's rules, but he held the right to write those right now. They needed all the light they could get and those six beetles could be divided, allowing multiple people to use them at a time. Hell they could even probably make sort of necklaces by those glans with some string, which would allow their front line fighters to fight without losing a viable hand to hold the light source!” We should buy the six of them... also the cage, can't have anything happen to them in advance.” She affirmed to Thomas and placed a hand on his shoulder.

Slinking out from behind Keystone over into the raw materials, Cyne found herself being a lot pickier with her purchasing decisions than she would have thought. She needed these for replacements, so the material would have to be good. Tough, but not overly stiff, in good condition with as little imperfections as she could find. At the same time, she also wasn't going to replace all her clothes with leather from a single animal, so she'd need enough to complete a couple of items, but not so much that she would end up with a lot of excess material. Anything she couldn't make from what she bought here she could make later with fresher supplies.

And while she was here, she picked up some needles, shears and a couple spools of different sizes of thread. Normally she'd carve up the suitable tools from a hardwood like oak and use catgut and such for proper threading, but this would save a lot of time at the expense of... expense. Leatherworking haul in hand, Cyne trotted over to the front and dumped it all down for the shopkeep to purview right around the time that he had finished with Keystone's coat. With her hands now free, she pulled out her handy dandy coinsack and counted over what she had. She was certain that she'd be able to pay for all this, but there was the worry that it would leave her close to broke, which would be a nuisance when it came time to buy herbalism ingredients.

Keystone

Location: Leather Goods Shoppe
Interacting With: Shopkeeper, Cyneburg

Keystone was not much of a craftsman. Outside of Forging the Perfect Omelette, he spent his formative years living quite the urban upbringing. Generally, this meant that he lived a mostly vocationally specific existence, counting on others in the society to do the same, resulting in a sort of necessary codependency for life to push forward. In other words, he couldn't just grab a ton of raw materials like Cyneburg and make something useful for himself. Well, anything more useful than a tarp, and even then he only had a moderate chance of success if one handed him a large bundle of pre-sewn oiled leather, labeled: "TARP - no assembly required".

At any rate, leathercraft wasn't his thing, outside of sewing up the occasional split seam. What he could do was count out three silver coins and ask for his change back, which he promptly did before surrendering his masterful leather coat over to the trained professional.

Keystone had a half hour to kill before the coat was ready, barring any unforeseen hitches. To begin with, he took a look around the storefront, browsing through the wares to see if anything caught his eye. It was a strange feeling, looking around a shop while waiting for a repair. Like a slice of everyman normalcy, day-to-day errand running before stepping back into the literal horror of his recent life. He might as well enjoy it while it lasted. Risking a piece of casual conversation, Keystone called back to the shopkeeper, "Oi! Many thanks for fit'n me in on the now, like y'did. Don't suppose you got anythin' of special interest for a bounder like m'self?"

"Thanks Satilla, we'll have to think of a way to uh..." A pause as Thomas communicated his uncertain plans to kill the purchased specimens. Would drowning them work? The cage would be a nice holding tank, at least for the six of them, but they had to extract them one by one. Maybe some scalding water? Although Thomas really didn't want to kill all the beetles, ideally keep two specimens for breeding purposes. But that would require sexing the beetles, of which Thomas was no etymologist or was it entomologist? Then again an etymologist ought to know which they were, so entomologist then. But since the elder refused to state where they were obtained from for business purposes, there goes the idea of finding more buggers to make fire beetle babies and start a successful shop across the street from this undead-troubled ghost-town? "... Extract some beetle juice."

"We'll take all six sir, cage and all. And those other ingredients, if you could, I need to stock up on alchemy supplies. Plus we can do an experiment on the carapaces Satilla." Satilla and Thomas in the lab together? What was this some sort of highschool chemistry class? The afterthought of doing experimental alchemy with Satilla came along with the realization that it was her fingers wrapt over his shoulder. The slightest blush tinged those sunny cheeks thereafter, as Thomas' eyes quickly darted away from Satilla and back to the beetles or Shopkeeper, whichever could conceal his self-consciousness. "But I'll just... I mean anyone can attend if they want to watch us."

A single gold coin produced and set on the counter to pay for the beetles and while waiting for the other ingredients and the price of them not yet delineated by the shopkeep. Some more coins would be placed later, but Thomas was wise enough to keep his nice coinpurse from the old man's view. Their business was done for now, hopefully the shelves would hold more things in stock soon, the man had a crystal gem, maybe he might have something else? Maybe a necklace or bracelet, some jewelry for... Well after Thomas manages to get some loot of value from adventuring, maybe then he could. blushing thoughts aside, the young sorcerer returned to the light matters at hand. "I think that will be all, you see anything you need Satilla?"

And perhaps outside the store, as invoked by Thomas inadvertent apparent calling, somewhere a ghost in black-and-white striped pajamas appeared.

Kyra & Sana

Location: Merchant/Smithy
Interacting With: Various
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"Right'o," the apothecary said as he started placing what they had requested in a smaller box next to the cage of beetles. Measuring out things in glass tubes and corking them tight. The box was old and worn, made of wood. It wouldn't have done to transport the glass vials and such if it had not been for the cotton batting that was laid within the box to soften things and keep them from rolling about. Picking up the gold piece from the counter he hefted it into his hand, feeling its weight before taking it and placing it between his worn teeth. A quick test bite later and he seemed satisfied with the quality of the gold before pocketing it.

Looking back over to the two he slid the box and the cage to their side of the counter. "Anything else?" he asked but from the looks of things there really wasn't much else to be had there in the shop. Satilla and Kyra had cleaned him out of a lot of his supplies that were left the night before. Granted there wasn't much to be had then, and no delivery had been made that morning.

The leather worker nodded and took the piece before sitting down on a stool and getting to work quickly. "Not much around these days thanks to the militia here in town. I do have a few leather pieces such as greaves, gorget, and the like but they wouldn't fit you mate. They're much to small," he said looking Keystone over before glancing towards Cyneberg.

Setting the work aside he stood up and went through what she had. "That be 10 copper that will lass," he said. It wasn't a horrible deal with what was laid out there. The shears cost the most out of the lot it seemed from the way he was tallying things up in his head. His lips moving as he did before he had given her the total.

Sana rubbed her temples as she walked towards the smiths shop, holding Epona's reigns in her hand as she did. The black mare following next to her with a saddle bag full of torches. Kyra turned around as she heard the bell to the shops door ring, cocking a brow as she spotted Kyra. "All done?"

"Yeah, just seeing how much longer you'll be before I head back to the tavern," Sana said with a nod as she adjusted her bracers.

"Just a few I think."

Cyne pulled out a single silver piece and plinked it down onto the counter. She wasn't 100% certain, but she was pretty sure that one silver was worth ten copper. If it was a bit more or a bit less that was fine, but she didn't have 10 coppers to give exact change.

Her haul now paid for, Cyne pulled her bag off of her back and set it on the floor. As Keystone went about inquiring for anything special that might interest him, she carefully shoved the supplies she'd accrued where she thought they would best fit. Honestly she was surprised the shop owner replied the way he did. She expected him to try selling the burly cook whatever he thought he could get away with. The town of Salarn wasn't exactly a nexus of commerce right now, might as well get everything you can before things all go to Hell.

"You don't wear armor anyway, right Keystone? Monks always seem to forgo its use. Why is that?" Cyne could ditch him and head over to the Apothecary, but that didn't feel right. And if she was going to be standing around waiting, might as well engage in conversation as well.

Thomas was acting sort of strange at the moment, but right now Satilla really didn't have time to concern herself with that. There was this whole danger of undead that was hanging above this whole city like some giant guillotine, waiting to drop on them any moment now and take them to the not nice embrace of undead. Because it only made sense that anyone killed here wouldn't be allowed the nice embrace of eternal rest, their bodies would be used to restore the forces of whomever was doing this. Who knew maybe even their spirits would be imprisoned for some nefarious purposes. Everything was possible and especially the evil things.” It would be nice if people want to learn something ,right?” Was her hurried reply to his mention about people watching them during experiments of alchemical nature.

β€œNo, I don't have anything I want to buy right now. We'd better get going, don't want to be late right?” She asked him with a smile, reading to head off back towards the inn.” Thank you for the help. I will definitely come to buy more things in the future if I'm ever in the area again.” She said to the apothecary with a smile non the less. She had her suspicions, but it didn't mean she couldn't be polite towards the man. He did supply a good amount of healing items when stock everywhere else was non existent.” Alright, let's go, Thomas. We've plenty to do and little time.”

"Yeah, it'll be educational I'm sure." Thomas' somewhat sheepish reply to Satilla who was perfectly oblivious, or perhaps focused on other things than the awkwardness that had just passed over. It was a rather short but fruitful trip, searching out for potions but instead returning with these lovely fire beetles. Shame they'd have to die somehow for their organs to be extracted. Maybe it was possible to drown them? Invert a jars in a large pitcher or something, fill it with water, and then slowly tip the jar slightly to allow the water to escape? something to preserve their hard carapace to be ground down. Maybe Keystone had some experience in gutting things open delicately? Somehow these beauties would have to die, hopefully they lived out good lives. "Okay then, let's head out um, we should meet the others and see if they are ready to explore, or maybe we could go visit a tailor or leather worker for a needle or awl and some string or cord if we wanted to make these into necklaces?"

"Thank you Sir, I'll have to peruse your wares another day, we've got some fire beetles to uh... Well you know." With the last remarks and a wave, Thomas picked up the cage of beetles delicately, careful not to agitate the doomed buggers. Hopefully Satilla could take the box, the materials shouldn't be that difficult to manage, although why the old timer sorted out his own vials instead of using Thomas' was beyond him. The boy had placed his tubes back in his satchel already as his sunny eyes watched the beetles crawling around. There was a strange fondness the sorcerer had for animals, probably from being a farm boy and having a menagerie of them around him, bar cats. Cats weren't a favourite with Thomas, but for the sake of Satilla, he'd put up with Skittles, who... Speaking of where was the familiar feline? "So, anywhere else you'd like to go Satilla? Or should we deal with these beetles first? Not sure if we should prepare them now on or wait for the night?"

Examining the wares about the room gave Keystone a similar assessment to what the leatherworker informed him; the pieces were definitely too small. A couple might have fit around parts of his frame, but would be so tight as to restrict proper movement. Maybe even proper blood flow. He could only imagine that a codpiece would be right out, not that he was the codpiece wearing type. Now, owing to the nature of his personal contributions to their merry group, the concept of a decent set of greaves wouldn't entirely be out of the question. He did wear a set of particularly well constructed bracers, though they were Dwarfcraft metal and not Human tooled leather. Maybe one day soon he'd find his way back to Dwarf lands, get something forged to make a passable matching set. Of course, his were of an older style, even among the Bearded Folk.

Maybe that is precisely where he should go after this little side trip. It was generally in the direction of his most recent travels, and the height of the average doorways aside, he felt rather comfortable in the presence of Dwarves. Well, some of them, anyway. Go and train with the Battleragers for a while, help harness his Chi in the loudest, most obnoxious way possible.

His thoughts on the near future were politely interrupted by Cyneburg, inquiring as to his seeming lack of armor and the preference of others of his ilk to forego more earthly protection. "I ain't a Monk proper, y'understand." he rolled out in his distinctive urban underclass. "Just train with'em. Somehow, I can catch a piece o'what they do." Motioning over to his coat (presently under repair), he continued, "And 'sides, I am an armor wearin' man. More or less. Them Monk-folk though, just slows 'em down. Even me, if'n I wear anything 'eavier than what I got, lots o' my Monk learnin' pisses right off."

Kyra & Sana

Location: Smithy -> Tavern
Interacting With: Various
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The silver passed enough for the cost of the items and the leather worker nodded as he took it and pocketed it. Turning he sat down and got back to work on the jacket. It made quick work of the tears and gouges. His fingers working quickly with thick needle and thicker thread as he patched it up. Pulling each newly made seam together and tightening it down. From the outside of the coat one could barely see where the torn pieces of fabric pulled together when hanging straight, on the inside just simple lines of re-enforced stitching.

Cutting the last piece of thread he shook out the garment after a little while and stood back up, double checking his work. "There ya go, close to as good as new as she's gonna get," he said as she laid it down over the counter. "Will there be anything else?" he asked.

The Apothecary nodded and thanked them for their business, informing them that he hoped that come the next day there would be a shipment arriving. There had been several scheduled but none had made it through, fingers crossed that tomorrows would make it the gate of the city and through its walls.

Kyra wrapped up the items she went to the smithy to ~upgrade~. She had her arrows and handed Sana hers. For all intensive purposes they were done, had paid for the services, and ready to go. There was more Kyra would have liked to have done but for now this would do and there were a few coins left to redistribute. The pair made their way out of the smithy, Ash on Kyra's heels and Epona following along side Sana as she took her mares reins.

"Anywhere else?" Kyra asked as she looked over towards Sana. Sana gave a shake of her head. "Okay, back to the tavern then I guess and see if the others are done as of yet." With that the two headed to the tavern, exchanging a quiet conversation amongst themselves as they took a seat in the main area and glanced around. From what Femnal told them they were the first back.

Satilla Valen

Location: The Apothecary.
Interacting With: The Merchant of Menace (shopkeeper), Thomas.

Satilla quickly grabbed the box and headed to follow with Thomas. There was much to be done, little time to do it and a certain sense of doom that hanged about the whole place like a pendulum of death above them. In a way she wondered if this wasn't what all those heroic ballads were about? Well she was not a hero, she only wished to survive this, help her companions and hopefully not end up with her innards hanging about the place.

β€œNo, Thomas.” Satilla replied, Skittles now running by them.” We should head back to the inn. We shouldn't wander about alone. We shouldn't waste valued time or expose ourselves to increased danger without need. We have what we came for more or less. Let's just regroup and start preparing the rest of what we will need.” She stated. His magic was of utmost importance as all magic was. He could probably cause extensive damage to anything thus ensuring that the rest could finish it off. Her magic was what would keep people alive... As much as she disliked that way of thinking, they were holders of important responsibilities for the upcoming events.

β€œAs for the beetles... it shouldn't take too long to prepare them. Better do that when the time draws near. We will need all the light we need, no need of wasting any in advance.”
