The lorekeepers tell of a time many years ago: when man could freely traverse both the shattered land below and the cruel void above, without fear of the ground rending beneath them or the great black plucking them out of reality. They tell of a time when unprecedented scores of men lived in peace across hundreds of planets, plagued not by struggle and trials. They tell of a time of order and harmony; and while only a fool would dismiss the counsel of a keeper, their teachings are certainly far from gospel. Know that we are safe here: within these walls atop this mountain, we are all that are left. Be uncompromising with your trials, respect your elders, and help all those in need. We can only find our final utopia together.
Aryav the Fourth Hand, delivering a speech to graduates from the Path of Knowledge.

In the distant future - or perhaps the past, or even the present - intergalactic civilization fell to a great cataclysm. The nature of the cataclysm is all but unknown, and for all the survivors living in the Mountains of Myar know, they are the last men left; and their time is running out.

Welcome to my interest check! It's been a while since I've ran something, so I might be a little rough around the edges while getting off the ground. My vision for Entropy draws inspiration from titles such as Fallout, Firefly, Duskers and Dark Souls, in the theme of entropy in a science-fiction post-apocalypse galactic adventure. The roleplay will follow a group of citizens from the hermit community of Myar that have been selected - or perhaps even volunteered, if they're brave enough - to crew a recovered and repaired "voidcraft" (space ship) and find a path to a utopia for their friends and family. Focuses will include character development, exploration, and learning exactly what happened to the universe, with horror themes.

The void is both terrible and wide, plucking the greatest minds of Myar from existence with ease, so all sorts of interesting stories may lead to a character undertaking the Path of the Void: it may be a punishment for a dire crime, it may be a hereditary responsibility, it may even be a rite of passage before undertaking the Path of the Hands to govern the Mountains of Myar. I'm looking for interesting characters with flaws, and to this end I'm hoping to build the lore around these characters to give them the best chance of being interesting and fun to roleplay.

Please do post if this interests you at all, if you have any ideas for the setting and/or a character, if you want me to expand on any of my thoughts at this stage (which are subject to change if it'll make things more interesting/fun), or anything else really. I'm looking for ideally 4 people but am happy to flex up to 6 if interest is high enough.

looks cool may i join plox

some questions

1. The setting is sci fi while also drawing inspiration from Dark Souls--safe to assume a blend of fantasy and sci fi elements (i.e. functional magic exists)?

2. What is the world like outside of Myar? I envision a Fallout style wasteland, perhaps with scattered small settlements, but mostly desolate and hostile.

3. We're crewing a spaceship and the setting mentions intergalactic civilization, so I assume we'll be visiting multiple planets. Will we create these as we go along, perhaps?

i hope you let me join kek

Sure. If we get enough interest I'll tag you in the OOC once it comes up.

To answer your questions:

1. I'm planning for some vague fantasy elements, yeah. Magic "exists" but is really vague and abstract, to the style of Game of Thrones even. For example, the Lorekeepers are mages. I'm currently kicking around a "Voidtouched" concept that's effectively when someone goes into space and between them leaving and coming back, something happened to give them supposed visions, make their eyes a sheer black, and some other traits. The lorekeepers would all be voidtouched who didn't go insane. If it interests you, you're definitely welcome to play one.

2. Myar itself is a desolate wasteland below the mountains. More or less on the money with Fallout, if not more desolate and unforgiving. The mountains are the most hospitable places on the planet, hence why the hermit communities have set up and walled up there. It'll likely be a profession among the mountain hermit communities to explore beyond the walls, Path of the Ranger or something like that. It'll be Rangers who found the new ship.

3. Definitely multiple planets, yeah, and I'll admit they'll be made up as we go lmao. What'll be there, though.. who knows? Spooky cataclysms dude.

Great, I like the sounds of this. I think it's a good thing to make up lore as we go along, that's part of the fun. Is any of this lore pre-existing? If not, maybe we can make a brief catalogue in the OOC. After the RP gets off the ground, of course.

Also, please ignore Dead and badguy. I'll PM a mod about them shortly.

They ain't bothering me any <__>

I'm obviously quite new to the site so I'm not familiar with the culture here yet--I guess posts like theirs are considered spam?

None of the lore is pre-existing, it's currently everything I thought up while trying to sleep last night. So yeah, once the OOC is up there'll be a catalog of everything the PC's know, exactly as you said.

Yeah, more or less spam. Posts like theirs is really uncommon, almost everyone is really cool. I just happen to know them outside of RPG on not-so-great terms.
