FF8,6,9 and 15 are my favourite Final Fantasy games. The others all just bleed together from okay to meh.

Speaking of overrated...

Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild.

Questionable voice acting. A story as old as the series itself. A weapon "fragility" system that is complete and utter gutter trash.

It's a shame really because it's a truly visually stunning game and exploring the place is pretty damn good. Everything else is just okay to mediocre(except the weapon durability is just shit). It's not greatest game of this generation, Yooka-Laylee is an overall better game.

I wouldn't exactly say 'underrated' but why is the general consensus that Dark Souls 2 was a terrible game?

It's the worst Souls game. Fine. People might not have enjoyed it if they were comparing it to the far superior DS1. Dandy.

But a terrible game? Like...how can you think this is a terrible game? It's great! If Dark Souls 1 had never come out, name one issue with this game. You can't, because every complaint I've seen towards it compares it to Dark Souls. Dark Souls is a better game. Of course. I'm not an idiot.

Now compare those same issues to...i don't know...Ocarina Of Time. Suddenly Dark Souls doesn't seem so piss-easy just because it was more newb-friendly than the first one. It doesn't seem so 'broken' just because the mechanics and balance were tweaked so rolling's now more useful, and parrying isn't, when compared to Zelda's hitboxes. And the level designs no longer seems so bad just because DS1 has some of the best lvel designs of all time.

Dark Souls 2 is a bad sequel? Sure, I won't argue with you.

Dark Souls 2 is a bad game? Fight me.

Oh I do love Souls conversations. Though I don't disagree with you. Dark Souls 2 overall is still a good game, just fall shorts of what Dark Souls provided. Not to say it doesn't do some things better, it still has the best multiplayer aspect between all the Souls games. The DLC also helped boost some of aspects of the main game along with the re-release that worked on the enemy placement. Old Ivory King probably sits somewhere in my top ten Soul bosses and I wish Dark Souls 3 had provided one boss similar to that since it was such an interesting fight with its mechanics.
So like you said, indeed, a poor sequel? Yes. A bad game? Far from it.

To add another to the Overrated Category: Overwatch.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy playing the game quiet a bit with some online friends and have a good time. But at the same time the overall hype for the game was way over the top and no where near close of deserving a game of the year award. Is it fun? Definitely but it lacks content. The PvE events are great but only come during events like at this time where the Junkenstein Event has come back. Of course it will remain for three weeks and then be gone. There needs to be a PvE mode that stays year round but then the problem I guess with that would be how the arcade stuff is run currently and how it constantly switches out modes or sometime keeps modes that stay longer far more then they deserve. SR in competitive is a downright chore to deal with which is why I don't touch competitive minus the ten matches needed to get your rank. Balancing currently seems all over the place but leans heavily towards DPS characters it feels.

I love Demon's Souls too. World and Character tendency make it a chore to try and platinum, though. Not to mention the smithing mechanics *shudder* Spent more time bladestone grinding than soul grinding.

In fact it's my personal fave in the entire series. I prefer it to 4 AND 6. But I'm just strange. I just can't get how you think 3's better. It's literally 5 but with less classes, no connecting story between the mini-stories, and the main characters don't have personalities.

Also I like retro graphics, and FF5's graphics>FF3 NES graphics>FF3 DS graphics to me.

@Dynamo Frokane I'd put Demon's Souls and Bloodborne at 1 and 2 with a very close gap. The other three are fighting for scraps but it's probably three then one then two but if you've played one Souls game you've played them all except for Bloodborne. Which is why it's number 2.

I did see Gowi's list. They put Zero near the top and that's good enough for me since that's my favorite but I'm not exactly a Resident Evil fan or aficionado whereas Final Fantasy is my shit and thus I have more of an opinion there since I'm caught in the trap of that entire franchise and I can't escape.

I dont like any souls games, From Software died for me with the Tenchu series.

If one of THE most overrated RPG series in the world 'is your shit' then I truly feel for you. Final fantasy is the Sonic the Hedgehog of that genre.

tbf, Final Fantasy is my shit too. I wouldn't call it my fave by any means, but it's fantastic and has given me probably more hours of fun than any other game franchise.

And I'm not sure 'like' is the right word to describe my relationship with the Souls series, in the same way you wouldn't 'like' a woman you love and have no desire to ever leave but she is a rage-inducing nightmare to live with more than half the time, though she does give great sex. In this analogy, Final Fantasy is a healthy, chill relationship while you can do better, but there's no real reason to leave as you're still happy and in love.

I wasn't aware that Final Fantasy was Dragon Quest.

Also considering that Sonic the Hedgehog has had like one good game and was always second fiddle to Mario I'm not sure the comparison applies to FF. FF is the most well known JRPG franchise for a reason and that's because most JRPGs are total shit aimed at a certain demographic, like the Neptunia games or any of Gust's or Nippon Ichi's shit. All niche games for a niche audience that are bad games. Final Fantasy is one of the few franchises that make JRPGs palatable for a wider audience. Final Fantasy 7, despite being one of the weaker ones, made JRPGs mainstream and brought them into the 3D era and practically solidified the game as a landmark title because of it. Which is more than can be said of anything Sonic related.

Final Fantasy is pretty much the reigning champion in the genre, like it or not.
