Sweet. I think that's everything.

As @Jove said each character will be working based on their own motivations at all times, and again, half of all scenes will end badly.

Finished diagram:

@Cao the Exiled@Jove@Pirouette

Right then! If everything's in order, here's the CS. This doesn't have to be super detailed, since the RP itself will probably be quite short. Similarly your posts don't have to be essays, either, as things should move along quite quickly.

Feel free to pretty this up as you like!

That's implying that half of all scenes end well. Nothing could be further from the truth. Also, the diagram isn't finished. It's missing the fortune teller clarification.

Getting a little buddy-buddy in here. Remember, in a Fiasco, everyone has their own agenda, and doesn't care for the long-term consequences. I was imagining that Mae's character is a juvenile delinquent who has one friend in this new town, which is Cao's character. My character feigns fatherly interest in Mae's character merely in order to use her for his magic ritual. And there's no more artifact necessarily. Anyways, I'll take Carnival 6: The fortune teller.

So... My character wants to hold a great Halloween Dance and not die.

@Jovehalf of all scenes end with a white dice result, though. Which is technically a "success" in terms of achieving your goal, though whether it's a good thing or not...

Also do you want to talk briefly about our character's backstory since they'd probably be quite interlinked? Like I'm imagining the mother isn't around anymore for whatever reason, allowing my character to spiral into rebellion and yours to delve into this witch-stuff without issue.

Also woops, image is updated, forgot to change the link.

@Mae Since the town has a dead witch, it's probably a New England town in the US, with a Puritan history. My character is a wizard, perhaps from a line of wizards. He takes secret pride that he was able to lure the "old blood" back to the town. He has married into your family strictly for magical purposes. His goal is to fulfill the dead witch's spell so that she can assert her power over the town and punish the "insipid ignorant plebeians" of the town, allowing dark magics to take control. I'm not sure whether he wants to instruct your character or sacrifice your character yet. As for your mother, I imagine that she's pretty dim, or died "mysteriously."

Excellent! So, since this is a fiasco roleplay, things will run a bit differently.

Act 1

We will take it in turns to set up scenes between specific characters that move along the story. It's good to think about it in terms of where you want the story to go, what your character needs or wants, and what sort of events you want to have setup in the roleplay.

If your character gets a good outcome (they achieved what they wanted, didn't get hurt, ect), they receive a while die. If your character gets a bad outcome (they failed to achieve a goal, ended up in a worse situation) they receive a black die. The player of that character may then gives the opposing colour die to another player (note: That player doesn't have to be in that scene, either.)

Before one scene starts, the
active player decides if they want to Establish or Resolve.

Establish: The active player choses the place, the conflict they're exploring, the people, they essentially set up the scene as they wish. However, the resolution of the scene is up to the other players. Depending on what happens IC, the other players will vote to give the active player a white die or a dark die, during the scene. That player must accept the resolution, and then wrap up the scene according to the resolution given to them.

Resolve: The active player may instead choose on the resolution of the scene. They take the die they want and the other players decide on the place, conflict, people involved, and set up the scene. They choose the situation, and it must be resolved according to the die taken at the start (i.e good or bad outcome)

Please Note: not every scene has to involve player characters. If you need a scene involving the school council, for example, typically another player would roleplay those NPCs for you during that scene.

Example Scenes:
Emmaline and Jared talk about preperations for the Halloween Ball, while Jared probes for information
Valerie and Ashton go about preparing or attempting to steal the artefact
Emmaline and Ashton are studying together, while Ashton hints at Emmaline's troubled impending-future
    ect. ect.

These are purely examples to give a feel for what to expect.

Note: I've removed a spare 5 since we've already setup now.. and there should be 8 of each dice for each set with 4 players

Does anyone have a scene they'd like to start with or would like to suggest? Otherwise I might suggest the initial heist of the spellbook, unless we want that to be a conflict later on (so they have to gather the stuff for the ritual, the sacrifice, the location, the book, on halloween, ect)
