The single pod floated in space. Lifeless almost. The initial thrust to get it away from the ship had long since dead – no doubt burned out in an attempt to escape the gravitational pull of the black hole. Not that it helped much. They had been too far in when Gaheris tried to escape. If there had been no statistical chance of making it, he would have stayed on the Andromeda Ascendant but that wasn’t the case. There had been a shot that the escape pod would have enough thrust to get away. It was small, but still a chance at survival. And if there was one thing a Nietzschean prized above all else – it was survival. First for one's genes and then, of course, one’s self.

Gaheris wasn’t worried about the former. He had left behind multiple wives and a handful of children. They would continue his legacy, passing on his genes far into the future. His genes would survive. But it was nice to survive personally as well. Thus the reason he took the odds. Though, if he didn’t know better, he would have guessed that Andromeda had given him false information in revenge for killing the captain. That brought a flood of different emotions. First, sorrow. Dylan was a friend. He did not take that lightly, despite what was done. Besides, it didn’t matter now. What was done was done. Second, amusement. Andromeda was an AI. She wouldn’t lie to a commanding officer – even one who betrayed the captain. The rules of mutiny were a bit dicey when there was no other officer alive. So at least he didn’t have to worry about her trying to just get rid of him. Not to mention, it wasn’t as if she had specific feelings on the matter. Everything was programmed. Well done and realistic, but programming nonetheless.

He glanced over at the avatar unit. He had ordered her to come aboard as well. Even separate from the ship she had all the knowledge, not to mention a wealth of information on the Commonwealth. Not that THAT mattered now.

The android was fairly composed considering they were disconnected from the ship, out of range of it – presuming it even survived. The very fact they survived was a miracle in and of itself. But either way – the ship was gone. The AI was the ship. Being split from it must be.

He scoffed. She might be programmed with emotion but the android was still rational and logical and coding. There might be some issue with her program due to being split – the androids were not really planned to be used separately from the ship. No, the avatar unit was to be used if for some reason the crew was low and they needed additional hands. Physical hands.

Her voice cut into his thoughts. “There is no sign of the black hole. Whatever happened, we appear to be far from it.” Rommie examined the small monitor on the escape pod. There were basic navigational components to help guide it to a nearby planet or ship but nothing fast or long distance. Compared to her, this was very low tech and frustrating. “No sign of myself anywhere. I don’t even feel the connection so we aren’t even in the same system.”

“Where are we?” Gaheris sat up and winced slightly. The shot from Dylan’s lance had grazed him on the side. A little more to the left and he wouldn’t be here. A little bit of luck on his part. Not that he was particularly proud of that. He actually was glad for the injury. It meant Dylan did well. He hadn’t gone done like any other human. He had proved himself.

Rommie didn’t look at him. “From the stars, we are in the Yol’tor system, Andromeda Galaxy.”

Gaheris raised an eyebrow at that. That was a long way from the Hephaistos system. “Are you sure?”

She turned and scrutinizing him with a look. If she was human he would have said she was mad at him. But she wasn’t. And the emotional programming she had didn’t really account for that. She could have anger but only if it made sense to the programming. “If you were on the bridge, I could show you. But here….” She waved her hand frustratingly at the panel. “The star patterns indicate this is the Yol’tor system. But it’s not right.”

“Oh?” Gaheris looked over her shoulder.

“There’s nothing here. No settlements. No traffic. The Yol’tor system was home to nearly three trillion beings. Even this far out we should see lots of traffic. There’s nothing.”

Gaheris frowned. That was strange. But then again, so was going through a black hole and surviving. “So we’re stuck here?”

Rommie turned with a slight frown. “Yes. No rescue in sight and only have three hours, nineteen minutes, and forty-three seconds of air left.”

“Touching. Thankfully for me, you don’t breathe.” Gaheris sat back down. “Did you send out a distress call?”

“I did. Though no one will hear it unless they are in this system. At least not in time to aid you.”

She sat down next to him in the small space. Her posture impeccable. She looked and sounded so human. The scientists on Tarn Vedra had done a very good job. If one was to touch her, she would feel just like a person. Even the axillary androids on the ship were nowhere near this realistic.

Even though Gaheris had interacted with the avatar unit on occasion it always startled him a bit on how much she could pass for a true human. But then again most Commonwealth captains were either human or Nietzschean now. Her look, persona was adapted to make the captain and crew comfortable. Otherwise, she’d look more Vedran. Something he was glad she didn’t.

Turning his thoughts to survival he was glad he ordered the avatar unit to come along. Though separated from the ship at the moment she still had the complete knowledge of the ship’s databanks. She still, technically, was the ship. And that knowledge would be beneficial to helping him out of this situation. Helping him survive. At least until help arrived.

“Get me a complete breakdown of this pod. What can we do to boost the signal, get navigation back up and recycle the carbon dioxide?”

Rommie looked at him. “So Nietzschean.” There was no prejudice, hatred or even pride. It was said with logical matter-of-fact. Using the monitor in front of them, she proceeded to pull up the schematics and go over what options they had.

“Captain’s Log, stardate four-six-three-seven-nine point six. It has been two days since the Enterprise was hit by the anomaly. It came out of nowhere – a dead area of space that seemed to be moving. There was no gravitational pull to it nor any other measurable aspect to it. Despite attempts to avoid it, we found ourselves passing through it. There was no damage done to our ship or even anything odd – initially. But we quickly discovered that whatever that anomaly was, it somehow transported us to a different place. None of the star charts match or are even close. We are completely lost, in an area of unknown space. Though our morale is still high, I fear it won’t be long before some of the crew starts to panic. Especially the families.”

Picard sat at the table and looked at his officers. Many had served under his command for several years and there was no one more capable than he would rather have in this situation. “Alright, we’ve had two days to examine this and look at every angle. We have to have something. Some data, some indication of where we are.” Though a professional, there was a slight bit of frustration. Not that he let it show. He was the captain and the crew would be looking to him. But how can he guide them? He didn’t even know what direction to go. One wrong move and they could end up even further from Federation space instead of closer. “What do we have?” He looked at his first officer and then moved down the line. Data. La Forge. Worf. His gaze took in the whole group, even the doctor. “We can’t just sit here.”

“With all due respect, Sir,” Worf leaned forward. “We can’t exactly just fly off. We have no idea where we are at.”

“Exactly. Thus why we need options.” Picard leaned back in his chair. There were times when the weight of his position weighed on him. He did his best to keep it hidden, best to keep it under wraps but times like this could be a bit more difficult. He had his entire crew to look out for and he would be darned if he let them panic or lose hope.

The com beeped. He flipped the switch a bit annoyed. “What is it?”

“Captain, we are picking up a distress signal.”

“On my way.” He rose and stared at the group. “We need to find a solution. If we have to, we might try to find a local inhabited system and hope they have some star charts that might match ours. But we could be looking at a needle in a haystack and I don’t like that.”

Turning he headed onto the bridge. “Report, Ensign.”

Ensign Erin Cadish was straight from the Academy. How she made it on the Enterprise was something that still sent chills down her spine. She had always wanted to be on the Enterprise but the flagship of the Federation didn’t just take anyone. Somehow though, she had been assigned. Replacing a young Wesley Crusher, she had only been on the ship a few months. And other than the fact they were completely lost now, it was the best thing in her life.

“Small pod, unknown design. Able to hold three maybe four passengers. One life sign aboard.” She looked up from her screen. “Sending out what seems to be a distress signal.”

“Anyway to contact them?” Picard inquired.

Erin attempted to hail them but no response. “They aren’t picking up our hail.”

“Lock a tractor beam on the pod and prepare to bring it into shuttle bay two.” Picard turned. "Number One, Worf. Data you have the bridge."

Throughout his tenure aboard the USS Enterprise, William Riker had been faced with numerous oddities and predicaments. It was almost a weekly occurrence for something to catch their eye and throw them into a brief storm of chaos. Riker would never leave the ship however, not even if offered something "better." To him, the crew had become his family and he could never abandon them. He was certain the same feeling was mutual, even among the more new additions to the ship. Riker leaned to one side as Captain Picard tried to wrestle with their current mystery. Riker could only give a shrug, "Nothing concrete has turned up I'm afraid." He told Picard. Even a clue would be enough but so far their scans have come up empty. "I feel it may be in our best interest to just report the area and perhaps quarantine it and move on."

"Lieutenant Uhura reported that her communications have come up with nothing." Data commented, looking up from his digital pad of information. "Our probes has also picked up nothing since the anomaly's sighting." He added. "And Ensign Hillard claims this area of space is currently unmapped." He said plainly.

"It hasn't done anything to our ship or the computer system or the engine or warp drive." Geordi spoke up. He felt unsettled by the event and felt powerless as to be able to help. So far nothing seemed to turn up any answers. "We can't conclude it's a black hole or even a wormhole, our systems would have registered that specific energy and structure." He frowned. "We really don't have any data to determine what happened." The ship had once been trapped in a loop for who knows how long. They had faced many tense situations before and yet somehow, this one seemed a little different.

"No one on board has reported any symptoms." Beverly reported quickly. "I don't think we're dealing with anything biological like an airborne virus or anything."

When Captain Picard concluded they couldn't just sit, it was Worf's turn to speak up.

While they were a team that guided the USS Enterprise and those who called it home, the decision rested on the shoulders of Jean-Luc Picard and his crew was ready to follow his command. When Picard was called back to the bridge, the other officers rose and followed after him. Nex, Nyota and Gabe had remained on the bridge and upon the Captain's return, the ship's counselor could immediately pickup on his anxiety, his need to find answers.

Eyes turned to the view in front of them where a small pod was drifting.

After Ensign Cadish concluded the report, Hillard spoke up: "It seemed to come out of nowhere, sir." He said. He had a year under his belt and he was glad for the experience. Like Erin, he felt utterly blessed to be where he was, despite seemingly being in constant danger. He could never pass up a chance to make new discoveries on a vessel that held such a high reputation.

"Yes sir." Data nodded when Captain Picard gave him command while the others went to check out their new find. Taking a seat in the captain's seat, he looked out as the small pod was pulled into the ship. Nyota looked over to the others as Riker and Worf followed Picard to the turbolift.

"If this is related to the transportation incident, that would be interesting." Riker commented.

While the pod was being handled, Geordi excused himself and went back down to Engineering while Nex also took her leave, having an appointment with an Ensign who was having trouble with homesickness. Beverly Crusher decided to head to Sick Bay, hoping that her services wouldn't be needed but she was still anticipating giving whoever was in the pod, medical attention if need be. When the three men made their way to the shuttle bay, Riker checked his phaser but still kept it holstered. Moving to the settled pod, he got in front of Picard and stepped to the door. He observed it and couldn't recall seeing anything like it. He gave a questioning look to Worf and Picard before he banged on the door. "Is anyone in there?" He called out and paused. "I'm going to open the hatch." He said before he grasped the handle and twisted, giving it a forceful tug.

It slowly opened and he took a step back, getting his phaser out and pointed it to the open door.

"You are aboard the USS Enterprise. Are you hurt? Where are you from?" Riker questioned, his guard raised as they waited to see if they had a new addition to the ship or if they would be preparing funeral arrangements.

It wasn't enough but Gaheris refused to give up. Nietzscheans were not known to be optimistic. In fact, shortly before they had entered the Hephaistos system, Dylan had been joking about the toast Gaheris would have given. Ah Dylan, ever the optimist. Always seeing the good. It was a weakness and eventually led to his death. Still, it would have been nice to have the man here beside him. But what was done was done.

"Any chance someone picked up the signal?" He inquired.

Rommie monitored the small interface. Unlike the main ship, this barely had any sensors, barely any signal strength and was not directly tied to her. Technically she could interface with most ships easily, without managing the controls but even this pod was too simplistic for that. "Not that I..." She stopped.

"What is it?" Gaheris straightened, ignoring the slight pain in his side.

"There's a ship. It just came into sensor range." The pod lurched. "It's got us in some sort of tractor beam."

"Tractor beam?" Gaheris frowned. It wasn't very common. "What faction? Who is it?"

"I don't recognize the configuration. But we have very limited capabilities." The android looked back at the monitor. "But neither the Commonwealth or the Nietzscheans have it. Not in this purpose."

Gaheris quickly rose. Opening the compartment above him he pulled out a force lance and tossed it to the android. He grabbed the remaining three. "Set it to your bio-metrics." Even as an android, she had a unique pattern. He did the same. This way, whoever it was they wouldn't be able to use the weapons. If they tried, well... they'd be in for a nasty surprise. He keyed the remaining two to his DNA before putting them back. The third he placed in the holster. His original force lance was still on the bridge.

Rommie obeyed and placed the lance in her side holster as well. "You expect trouble?" She inquired.

"We don't know who they are." Gaheris was taking no chances. Technically, even if they were an independent faction, very few would dare try something against a Commonwealth ship - even if it was an escape pod. The Commonwealth had instigated law and order. They didn't tolerate wrongdoing or piracy. And they dealt heavily with any offender to keep it that way. Well, except for the Magog.

Gaheris pushed the thought away. That was for another time. "Let me lead," he commanded. "If they're adversarial than I don't want them to know what you are." Despite the fact that very few wouldn't mess with a Commonwealth commander, it could be very tempting even for an ally to get their hands on an android like Rommie. Not only was she extremely sophisticated and was true AI, she had the military knowledge, tactics, and the full database of a Glorious Heritage Cruiser. With only him here, it wouldn't be that difficult to attempt to kill him to get her. Not that she'd let them. Despite all he did, he was still her crew and the AIs were very loyal to their crews.

A banging on the panel as well a voice, caused them to look over. "Delete everything," Gaheris ordered. "We want no evidence of what transpired." It was wise considering they didn't know who this ship belonged. Not to mention, he didn't want any evidence of the Nietzschean betrayal revealed. At least not yet. If this was a Commonweatlh ship, it would come. Any captain outranked him and could get the information from Andromeda. But that would be something he'd worry about later. For now... He positioned himself between the door and the android even as she complied. The hatch opened.

Having something pointed at him immediately flashed danger. He didn't strike though, despite the idiot being within easy range. You never knew who else was out there or how many.

Stepping out, he examined the individuals. Completely straight, he ignored the injury at his side as he not only estimated those in front of him but everyone around him. This was not a familiar class of ship but he really didn't know that many - outside the Commonwealth and Nietzscheans of course.

"I am Commander Gaheris Rhade of the Commonwealth. And this is Rommie. May I know who I address?"

The woman stepped up beside him, also quickly scanning the room. Lips not moving she spoke so only he could hear. "I have no information regarding this type of vessel. The Commonwealth has not come into contact with this race - least not since we had our update."

"I am Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the U.S.S. Enterprise. This is my first officer, Commander William Riker, and Lt. Worf - head of security. We represent the United Federation of Planets." He gave a slight motion for Will to put his phasor away. "We wish you no harm. We received your distress beacon." Picard frowned. "You're injured."

"It's nothing." Gaheris protested but the captain cut him off. "We'll get that seen to first. Then we can talk." He nodded toward Will to take over. When they were finished they could speak in the ready room.

"Captain," Worf's eyes nodded toward what appeared to be weapons. He was not pleased to have two armed individuals on the ship - neither of which he knew about.

"I'm sure they mean no harm." Picard said though there was slight firmness behind his tone.

Surprised they actually hadn't taken it away so far, Gaheris raised an eyebrow. "Would there be a reason to?"

"Captain, we're from the Commonwealth." Rommie stepped forward. "We mean no ill intent toward you."

Picard gave a slight nod. That was good enough for now. Besides, if they tried anything, Worf would undoubtedly react - quickly. "Number One," he said handing it over. "When you're finished in the infirmary we can discuss what happened in the conference room. Commander. Rommie."

The Commonwealth? It didn't ring a bell.

At Picard's gesture, Riker slowly slipped his phaser away, still not letting his guard down. Normally if someone was in real distress, their actions would give way to some kind of hint, some kind of emotion. And yet this Commander Rhade seemed formal despite injury. While his stoicism was admirable, Riker wasn't sure he could be trusted outright. If someone needed help, or medical attention, that should be their first priority. Riker wasn't sure where Rhade's priorities were but both parties seemed somewhat apprehensive of one another. Giving Worf a look, Riker forced his shoulders to relax some.

"Yes Captain." He replied as he looked to the male and female who represented someplace no one had even heard of.

"Please come with me, we'll take you to sickbay so we can make sure you're alright before we sort these events out." Riker told the two strangers as he walked back towards the ship's interior system. He entered the code and the doors slid apart to reveal the USS Enterprise's closest corridors that few into the main part of the ship. As he walked, he tapped his communicator. "Riker to Crusher, I'm escorting two individuals to you now, please be ready." He said.

"Acknowledged." Crusher responded as she waited for their arrival.

When Riker arrived, he had remained silent otherwise, the redhead was waiting with her own set of staff. "Hello, my name is Beverly Crusher. Please have a seat." She gestured the two patients to individual tables they could sit upon. It was evident the male needed her immediate attention first. Moving over, she grabbed her kit and her medical tricoder as well. "Do you remember how you got hurt?" She asked Gaheris, knowing a first-hand record of the event would cut the time she needed to mend the injury considerably. As she went to work, Riker glanced toward the woman who had yet to speak or address anyone.

"Rommie, was it?" He spoke to her. As much as he wanted to inquire about their origins and mission, he knew it was better done in the conference room. "Are you injured as well?" He asked her.

Gaheris watched as the captain left. He had the look and power of a captain. The command, the structure. But there was also a lot of weakness in him. The very fact he waved away the security officer's concern about the weapons was a dead giveaway. He had no idea who Gaheris or Rommie were. It was obvious that they had never heard of the Commonwealth - something that was fascinating in it's own right. If the roles were reversed he'd confiscate the weapons. The first officer though and the security chief both seemed a bit more wise in that regard. And the security chief - Worf - he seemed like he might be formidable. Not that Gaheris was going to be stupid and try anything. He was on a starship with who knew how many crew members. Even if he was able to take out everyone in this room - which he didn't know their skills - it would do them no good. At the moment he needed them.

He was pleased though with the fact they were escorted to the med deck. The technology was fascinating as well but not too much different. They had these turbo lifts though which were similar to the the ladders between decks. Something that might benefit the Commonwealth - or Nietzscheans.

Rommie was quiet as they went. He knew she was taking in everything, gathering information, observing. It was what she did. When they had privacy he would need to check with her to see if she picked up anything useful.

The med room was sophisticated. A bit different than the Andromeda Ascendant. "Gaheris Rhade," he said at the introduction. "Minor injury. Plasma burn to the left and side of my ribcage. Just a bit to off from my heart. I'll live." He was hesitant about letting her look at it. Something that immediately caught Rommie's eye. Nietzscheans rarely turned down medicial help if they needed it. Still...part of him wanted to endure it. It might help ease some of what he did. However, his instincts won over and he let her examine it. As stated it was plasma burn. It bore through his uniform and burned into his skin. He was lucky to be alive. The injury itself was not like something the Federation had seen before - at least not something that would come from the weapons of the major players. They used more phasor type weapons versus plasma.

Rommie surveyed the room around her fascinated, though not showing it. In some aspects, they had better technology than even she had. Though not completely. She picked up differences. In some aspects, the Commonwealth had better equipment, others they did. Though without full examination and understanding, she couldn't tell for sure.

"Rommie, was it?"

She turned her attention to the commander. Was she injured? Well that was not black and white. This body had no connection to the rest of her. That left a major feeling of...loss. It was hard to walk down the corridors of a ship and not be able to control anything. To stand in a room and not have any connection to the mainframe. She was used to doing dozens - hundreds - of little tasks at once. This...this was nothing. She shook her head. "I don't require medical assistance." In fact, she didn't need the doctor to poke around her with any equipment. She didn't know how sophesticated they were but she gave off no life signs, nothing that indicated human. "I appreciate your concern, Commander." She tilted her head slightly as she looked once more around the room. "You have a fascinating vessel." She caught sight of Gaheris slight look. Leaving it at that she watched as he stood, restored.

"You regenerated the tissue at the molecular level to repair his injury." She noted. And that was without nanobots. As the doctor turned to her, she quickly put up a hand to avoid getting scanned. "I'm fine, thank you."

"If you come this way," Worf ordered seeing as they were done. "The Captain will see you." He looked at Beverly. "Provided of course, you are satisfied, Doctor?"

Gaheris gave a slight bow to the woman. "I appreciate your assistance, Doctor Crusher, was it?" Ignoring Worf, he looked over at Commander Riker. "At your will Commander, we're more than ready."

Working in the medical field aboard the USS Enterprise, Beverly had her share of those who wanted to push through the pain. In some cases there was nothing the redhead could do to help if their egos prevented them from getting necessary medical attention. And then of course there were some that turned it down due to their race or beliefs. Beverly was in charge of healing the sick and the wounded, she would always put a patient above anything else, sometimes even the Prime Directive. She didn't like seeing anyone in pain, not when she had the power and knowledge to fix a problem right in front of her.

"Gaheris." She said gently, mostly to ensure she got the pronunciation correct. "Please let me just take a look at it." She asked gently. Beverly could see it was an unusual injury, one she hadn't seen before. But she burrowed knowledge from other similar wound locations and how the skin was reacting to the injury itself. "Very interesting." She muttered under her breath as she scanned the wound and decided to treat it with caution. She grabbed some ointment and applied it before she used another device to scan the area, ensuring it had been fully coated. The ointment would act as a barrier against infection and would also speed up the skin's regrowth and recovery process. She put a bandage on the wound and took a blood sample, just to be safe.

"Please be sure to visit me in two days so I can further monitor your wound's progression." Beverly told Gaheris. While she wasn't sure if he and his friend would still be aboard the ship then, she liked to think positively about the future. The tissue should be healed within twenty-four hours but she wanted to wait a bit longer as to not further irritate the skin. She turned to Rommie who seemed impressed. "Yes, we've been able to develop a few little tricks." She smiled lightly. "It's a quick and safe way of healing wounds without the need for more invasive and taxing measures." She said. When Rommie said she was fine, Beverly glanced to Riker who nodded.

Although she hadn't taken any samples from Rommie, she supposed it could wait. "Yes, Worf, they're free to go." She said and looked back to Gaheris who shared appreciation for her work. It was a kind gesture. Some people she had to drag into sickbay to do their yearly physical or administer necessary shots or get blood work done. "Thank you, please take it easy." She told Gaheris and watched as Riker and Worf headed out with the two strangers.

Riker still wasn't sure what to do about the whole situation.

Sure, they had rescues like this before but it almost felt like Gaheris and Rommie didn't belong. Like they were observing a scene they had never seen before. Perhaps their planet had yet been accepted into the Federation due to its technology issues but that was unlikely when they didn't seem amazed by their surrounded, more like intrigued. So Riker didn't think they were from some lesser planet with more primitive technology. There were about a dozen questions rolling around in his head but for now it had to wait a bit longer. "Commander Riker to Captain Picard, we've just finished with Doctor Crusher, we're on our way to the conference room." He said, tapping his communicator badge as they sped upwards once inside another turbolift.

The group of four soon made it to the main conference room which had an open view of the vast space stretched out before them. In the back of his head, he wondered if these two had anything to do with the anomaly but it was nothing more than a fleeting idea at the moment. "Please have a seat." Riker gestured as he sat down as well while they waited for Picard.

Gaheris gave another slight nod to the doctor before jerking his head slightly inclining for Rommie to join him. He doubted he'd need the Doctor's services a few days from now. Whatever her technology she used had gotten him healed enough that his nanobots would take care of the rest. Nietzscheans were bio-engineered to be perfect. The best. Healthwise, healing wise - everything about a Nietzschean was geared toward survival and their genetics was no exception.

The massive creature followed behind and slightly to the left. Gaheris wasn't too impressed. Worf might seem formidable - which had yet to be determined - but Garehis was Nietzschean. Not to mention trained by the High Guard - the elite fighting force of the Commonwealth. He was full military and could engage as such. Still, he was curious how well he'd do against Worf. Provided that their might be an opportunity, he'd like to see if the man would spare. Just to get an idea of his skills. Though, he himself would have to be careful not to reveal a lot. It was just them. Though, these people were a bit...trusting.

They sat in the ready room waiting for the captain. Worf scrutinized them from where he stood off to the side. Both had the bearing and posture that indicated either military training - or maybe even some high class society training. They were rigid yet appearing relaxed. That indicated more military. Not to mention, their clothes had a uniform appeal to it and they were armed.

"You mentioned your ship was the Enterprise," Rommie looked over at Riker. Of the two, he seemed more open for engagement than Worf. She had no idea what species the other man was but he had a fierce look to him. Almost closed. Not that she judged. There were many species that had looks that might seem intimidating or fierce yet were very passive. She doubted that in this case but you never knew. "Is she common for your, Federation was it?"

Gaheris, face cool as ever, looked at Rommie. Excellent, she was gathering information that could be useful. Know thy enemy.

They didn't really get much chance for a reply before the Captain entered.

Jean-Luc was curious about these newcomers and as soon as they were ready headed over. But not before first contacting Nex and seeing if she would be willing to accompany him. Seeing as they had no idea who they were - Commander Rhade was not like any species he was familiar with - though he seemed very human. In addition, he was a commander and thus military. It would be good to know his intentions and having a telapath was very handy for that. Though, Picard doubted they were a threat.

Entering, he waved them down as they both moved to stand. Neither of which listened.

"Captain, my I express my gratitude for the use of your Doctor." Gaheris inclined his head slightly.

"You're most welcome. I hope she was most helpful."

"Indeed, she was."

They sat.

Picard glanced over at Riker before turning his attention to the newcomers. "I'm sure you have a fascinating tale on how you got out in the middle of nowhere in that little pod." He had checked with the bridge. There were absolutely no debris. Nothing to indicate where the ship came from.

Rommie looked over at Gaheris. It would be interesting to see what he would reveal and what he wouldn't. Her look was not lost by Picard.

The commander placed his hands calmly on the table, resting them, perfectly at ease. He studied the captain with calm assurance. "We were aboard our vessel when we got caught in the gravitational pull of a black hole. The ship itself was damaged," Damage from the fight but really sabotage was what had got them caught. Sabotage by him. Something that Rommie was undoubtedly thinking about. He continued. "So we tried to get away in the escape pod. Apparently, we were pulled in as well because we found ourselves here, in the Yol’tor system." He shrugged. "Frankly we're lucky to be alive. It's theorized that black holes lead to other universes or different parts of the universe but no one knows and you could be just as lucky to end up dead. Something I'm grateful that we aren't." He leaned back slightly. "We appreciate you picking us up though. If you wouldn't mind, there's a Commonwealth station in this sector that you can drop us off at."

Picard exchanged a look with the others from his team before looking back at Gaheris. "How can you be certain that you're still in the same galaxy?" He asked. And that wasn't even touching the fact a different universe.

"Oh we're not." Rommie spoke up. "The Yol’tor system is in the Andromeda Galaxy, section," she rattled off a series of coordinates. "We were in the Hephaistos system." She looked at them as if they should know that. Then she remembered they weren't Commonwealth. "The Hephaistos system is in the Milky Way, coordinates..."

Rhade cut her off. "Rommie is a bit of a star enthusiast. She's our astronomics officer." There was no fluxation or indication of the lie. It technically wasn't really a lie yet it wasn't truth. "She's gets a bit technical." He gave her a calm look.

Picard was amazed. If what they were saying were true than the implications was mind boggling. That meant they personally were not in the Milky Way Galaxy and thus millions of light years away from home. In addition, they were dealing with a faction - this Commonwealth - that seemed to think nothing less of jumping across galaxies. The implications that this was a story, possible, seemed highly improbable. Who would make something like that up. He glanced slightly at Nex.

At the inquiry that Rommie posed, Riker was about to go into detail about the Federation itself but found his voice failing him as Captain Picard arrived. Riker glanced to his friend before they began to discuss the origins of the pod itself. The man began to explain what had happened leading up to their escape. It was a very wild tale and while he had no reason to question its validity, he was still a bit uncertain as to whether or not The Enterprise was where they assumed it to be. Had their run-in with the anomaly somehow altered their position? Was that possible? It was a puzzling situation.

Soon the door slid back to reveal a woman with long blond hair. "I apologize for being late." She gave everyone a quick look before she found a seat. Nex was picking up a lot of emotions, most of which were originating from those of Riker and Picard. Nex turned her gentle gaze to the newest two additions to the ship. She picked up a sense of urgency from the male but found herself unable to connect with the woman, which wasn't a situation Betazoid often found themselves in. There could be some technological interference but it was almost like Rommie was emotionless.

There was also some hint of Rhade feeling anxious.

"They're not lying." She said, only having heard the last bits of their story. "They've had to endure a lot of hardship in a very short amount of time. Nex folded her arms, looking to Picard still. "I understand the ambivalence of their story, Captain. They do not pose a danger to us so I think it is within reason to assist these two in finding home, wherever that truly is." Nex told him. She was curious about the woman though and knew she may need to approach the topic with great caution.

Riker wasn't entirely convinced and still found these two to be very odd and out of place. "Could you tell us more about this Commonwealth of yours? It's not a section or faction we've heard of." Riker said. He wasn't sure they could locate a place they had never heard of but if Rommie was skilled with locations and the reading of stars, it would prove helpful to have her work alongside Data or himself to help settle on coordinates.

"I would be happy to show you both to your quarters if you need to rest and clean up." Nex commented. "We've also got a great place to grab a drink if you're in need of that as well." She smirked lightly. From what she could infer, the two weren't romantically involved so she had to assume it might be better to give them separate quarters that were close in proximity. "Consider me your personal liaison while we sort everything out, anything you need: I'm your gal." She offered them.

Gaheris frowned slightly as the new woman entered and then apparently seemed to think they weren't lying. Who was she? The captain seemed to listen to her - so was she higher rank? How would she know if the story checked out? There was a lot they didn't know about these strangers and it wasn't something he liked. However, she did seem to be on their side so that was helpful. Now the first officer - he was going to be a bit of an issue. There was a slight hint of distrust coming from him. Most would find that bad or get annoyed but that actually brought a slight hint of respect from Gaheris. He was skeptical. Good. He should be and if the roles were reversed Gaheris would be as well.

Rommie raised an eyebrow at the question. It was almost absurd that they hadn't heard of the Commonwealth - especially if they were here. Her brain started thinking of the various logical explanations even as she answered the question. "The Systems Commonwealth is a constitutional monarchy with over a million member worlds," she didn't even pause at the extreme surprise from their hosts, "consisting of planets, drifts, space stations, orbital habitations, and of course entire solar systems. I'm surprised you haven't even heard of it. It spans the tri-galaxy. This system itself is - should be - a Commonwealth System." She turned and looked at Gaheris. "Perhaps the Black Hole has transitioned us to another universe. "Theoretically it makes sense. There is absolutely no indication of inhabitance in this system and they," her hand motioned toward the Federation officers. "Haven't even heard of the Commonwealth. We can't even be far in the future as the star alignments seemed to be about the same time period."

Gaheris shifted slightly, a bit of a forced smile even as he gave her a look. Rommie resisted rolling her eyes but shut up. Fine if he wanted to talk about it later than that was his thing. The fact that they didn't know about the Commonwealth meant that whatever happened, Gaheris and her were on their own and it wouldn't hurt to accept help. Especially as these humanoids didn't seem to be too much of a threat. But then again, Nietzscheans were always a bit pessimistic.

At the woman's offer, Gaheris rose. He nodded toward the captain and then first officer. "Again I'm very appreciative of your rescuing our vessel. I have to believe," a look toward Rommie before back to the captain. "That this is just a slight misunderstanding. No doubt, we probably ended in a different area than we anticipated. With your permission Captain, I would like to work with your navigation officer to maybe help understand our true coordinates."

Rommie gave Gaheris a frown. She was not wrong. She knew where they were. Despite the poor interface on the pod, she had been able to pick up the star patterns. This was the Yol’tor system. Unless of course, they were in a completely different part of the universe - which theoretically could happen - where the stars had the same alignment. It was possible, improbable yet possible.

Gaheris continued either missing or ignoring Rommie's glare. "I understand security." He quickly added. "And will accept whatever help you may provide."

As they were excused and went with Nex - Wolf following, Picard turned to Riker. He waited until the others were gone before he rose. He was greatly surprised. "A million worlds, Number One. Tri-galaxy." He shook his head and looked back. The astonishment a bit evident. "Almost to bizare to be true. Yet," he shook his head. "Imagine the possibilities." He sat back down and leaned forward. "If they are telling the truth - and they are correct in the fact we are in the Andromeda Galaxy," an amazing thought at that. "Their Commonwealth has figured out how to transverse galaxies. Galaxies." He leaned back.

He looked at Riker. "I'm not sure about this Gaheris. I want to talk to Nex but he seems to be hiding something. I don't know. There were a few times he shut Rommie down. Almost as if he doesn't want to reveal too much. Can't say I blame him. The two of them on an alien vessel." He frowned thoughtfully. He looked at Riker. "I'm not sure how much I want to reveal to them at this point. But I do believe we should learn more about them. Maybe we can get Rommie away from Gaheris and see how much she is willing to help." He rose. "Perhaps we'll grant Commander Rhade's request. Maybe have him work with Data - nothing sensitive - but enough to maybe help pinpoint the location. Though, seeing as Rommie's the Astronomics officer, he might want her there as well." He frowned. "See what you can do Number One. But let's get them separated and see what they have to say."

~ ~ ~

Gaheris followed the woman down the corridors fully aware of the large head of security behind them. Not that he let it bother him. He was a bit annoyed that only one security officer was assigned to them. This ship was a bit lax. If he wanted he could easily take out the man. And that was without Rommie's help. The android would greatly help in a fight - being fully programmed for hand-to-hand combat as well. In many ways she was better than him. But then again, she was a machine. She might be programmed but she didn't have the intuition or gut that aided in a fight.

"I'm not sure why you want to hide everything from them." Rommie whispered walking beside him. "We could use their help." He gave her a look without breaking stride. Now was not the time or place. "Fine." Rommie gestured before turning her attention ahead.

When he discovered that they were getting separate quarters, Gaheris frowned. He almost made an issue of it. The android should not be on her own. But that might raise questions and the rooms were across from each other, so it wasn't too much of an issue.

The quarters were nice. Expansive a bit. Almost more luxurious than military. Oh, his quarters on the Andromeda was a bit nicer than most but that was because he was first officer. But even then, it wasn't as.... civilian as these. And that was when he first moved in too. The food replicator was a fascination. It was a bit difficult to hide his surprise.

Rommie didn't even bother. "You managed to create things at the atomic level." Her voice held a bit of fascination even though no emotions could be read from her. She examined the replicator. "Theoretically if you know the atomic structure of something you could be able to reconstruct it but I never thought someone would actually be able to do so. This is way beyond," Gaheris' cleared his throat. "Belief." Rommie straightened, hands behind her back in a perfect soldier's stance. "It's very impressive." She told Nex even as Wolf scowled in the background.

Gaheris obviously not trusting. He was polite - which wasn't really an act - but he didn't trust them nor wanted to reveal that much up front. If they were going to be enemies than the more they knew about him and Rommie the more advantage they had. And at this time he had no idea what kind of threat they posed but it was best NOT to give them more than what they needed.

With her offer of assistance accepted, Nex quickly showed the two strangers out, not wanting to hear the kind of conversation that would be had in her absence. It was a lot to consider and it wasn't her place to pass judgement, merely to help guide others as needed. Nex led them along, deciding to only add bits of information about the Enterprise sparingly since she could tell the two were a bit guarded and likely didn't have a nagging interest in the ship or its facts. Nex could pick up a level of uncertainty but that was to be expected given how Gaheris and Rommie encountered their ship so suddenly.

Upon reaching the sector of spare quarters, Nex showed them inside Gaheris' quarters, gesturing to the one across the barren hall which would house Rommie. Looking to Rommie who seemed in awe of the simple replicator. "These have been standard for hundreds of years now, they can replicate food or tools and we even have one that is slightly different in which it transports a person from one location to another." Nex quickly explained, not wanting to get into the complicated history and research that the Federation had done going all the way back to the 22'd century.

"Whatever you'd like to eat, it should be able comply. If you have a recipe or can describe something it doesn't have in its bank, it does its best to accommodate you." Nex knew how leery Gaheris was but there was little she could do to ease his doubts. Both sides had reservations but in order to quell them, Nex believed in giving trust and then seeing if it was well placed, rather than refuse to give others a chance. She glanced to Worf who was still agitated by the whole surprise of Gaheris and Rommie. Not to mention the anomalies previously encountered. The day was not shy in serving up surprises.

"Lastly, should you require assistance or need to contact someone, simply ask. The ship has a computer program that acts as a database and means of wireless communication. However, since you're both guests, the computer will withhold security information if inquired. In fact, a lot of information will be unavailable to you but general information should be granted." Nex told them as she turned and headed for the door. "And if you need a drink or just want to mingle, Ten Forward is a bar where a lot of people go when they're off-duty. It has a great lounge and sometimes live music."

With that, Nex smiled before she moved her head, signalling for Worf to also take his leave with her. She didn't need the grump scowling at their guests and making matters worse between them. Now heading back to her own quarters, Nex was ready to deal with her own duties.

Once the room was clear, Picard rose briefly as he considered the notion presented to them.

In all of his time spent exploring the stars, Riker had learned that anything was possible, no matter how crazy it seemed. Still, to fathom such things was not something he wanted to consider unless they had proof. For him, ideas were intangible and needed to be grounded in reality. In truth. He sighed as his friend took his seat again. "If we're in unfamiliar territory then we need to make sure of it first hand. And if their...Commonwealth can help, we may need it." Riker noted. "I do agree though, they're hiding something which may or not prove dangerous but there cannot be secrets between us if we're going to assist one another."

"It's clear Gaheris is hiding something but the extent and context cannot be speculated. It's best we hear directly from him, what he's keeping from us. I'd rather not make Rommie turn on him and give us that information, that would raise a lot of red flags and not do much in our favor. I think I can talk to Rommie though, she seemed somewhat receptive to me. I think Beverly may be able to talk to Gaheris as well. Maybe she has some pull with him." He speculated before he got up. "We should talk to Data and Geordi before we send Gaheris their way, make sure they know the situation fully."

Riker wasn't looking to put pressure on the engineers or make them just as guarded as Gaheris appeared to be but with Data, it was better to talk things out than to let him assume something. Data could be too blunt for his own good sometimes. "I think tomorrow morning I'll ask that Beverly take a look at Gaheris' injury and then have Data show him around. In the meantime I can pick Rommie's brain a little bit. I'm sure Nex can confirm their ambivalence and maybe some rest will do everyone some good. I do think it's a priority that we figure out where exactly we are first. Maybe tomorrow Data and Gaheris will be able to do just that." He said.

It was amazing really. Fascinating. Not only did the Federation have this technology that could replicate anything to eat and drink but apparently they also had transmat beaming technology as well. In those aspects they were so far advanced compared to the Commonwealth. The theories of transmat beaming - teleporting from one location to another - were just that: theories. No one had gotten to the stage of it actually being able to happen and here they were on a ship that was capable of it. Rommie was so fascinated with it. She probably would have dug as much information out of Nex as she could - except Gaheris would undoubtedly give her a look or something. So she kept her intrigue to herself.

The information about the ship's computer was also interesting. She wondered how advanced it would be. Was it like her? Was it true artificial intelligence? Or was it just a programming without the capability to adapt, to learn - well at the level of true AI.

"Thank you, Nex." Gaheris nod was polite. "We appreciate it." He watched as she left, his gaze catching Worf's for a moment before the alien also left. Once the door closed he turned toward the computer.

"You know, for a Nietzschean, I would think you would take the opportunity provided and try to be a bit more cooperative." Rommie kept her hands clasped behind her as she studied her first officer. There was no emotion just logical statement in her statement. "You need them to survive."

Gaheris gave her a look before turning back to the computer. "Computer, do we have privacy or is this room being recorded?" He inquired.

"There is no recording currently at your location. Would you like to make a recording?" The female automated voice replied.

"No. Is there a way to put up a privacy screen?"

"Please elaborate on your question." The computer.

"You know, I doubt that would be very helpful. That might even raise a flag and have them just listen in." Rommie walked up beside him. She glanced at the wall monitor before turning back to him. "Commander, you have to face the fact if they want to hurt us or listen in - then they will. I say that they don't mean us ill intent. For now."

"For now is what I'm concerned about." Gaheris turned and looked at her. "Their security officer doesn't like us. Their first officer is highly suspicious. They might try something or get rid of us."

"Why?" Rommie looked at him. "Logically that makes no sense. Are you sure you aren't paranoid?"

Gaheris gave her a look. "We have to be prepared for anything." His hand went to his side.

Rommie's eyes followed it. "You should rest. Your healing capabilities would work better while you sleep. Though, they seem to do a decent job patching you up."

"You seem impressed with them. And this isn't the only time." Gaheris raised an eyebrow at her.

The android shrugged. "They have a lot of things we don't. In some ways, they are more advanced. Others," she shrugged. "I'm not sure yet. Though, they aren't that large of a civilization so they I think we have further travel capabilities."

"We don't tell them our technology or what you are," Gaheris ordered.

"Am I allowed to mingle with them, Commander?"

Gaheris shot the android a look. There was almost a hint of sarcasm in her tone. She had been programmed well. "Yes. But be careful what you say."

Rommie gave a nod. She turned and moved toward the door. "Then unless you object, I'm going to this ten-forward. It would be logical to see what it's about. Maybe learn a bit." She turned back to him. "You should rest."

"I prefer you don't tonight. They probably expect us to rest. And in reality, if you were..." He paused not trusting the room to be completely secure. "You get the concept."

Rommie raised an eyebrow and then swiftly turned to the door. "Understood. See you in the morning, Commander. Unless you would like me to guard your door?"

That last comment seemed almost uncharacteristic of a machine but it was said without any look that would have backed up the slight feeling Gaheris had that she was being sarcastic. No. Just logical no doubt. He was a member of her crew. And apparently, even though he had mutined against the captain she still thought of him as such and thus his safety was her concern. "No." He waved her off. He was a light sleeper and honestly, despite his pessimism, he didn't see them as the type to try something stupid in the middle of the night. There were some who might but they didn't come off like that.

"Alright," Rommie gave a nod and left leaving Gaheris alone with his thoughts.
~ ~ ~

Picard nodded to Riker. "Rightly so, Number One. We don't want to cause a rift between the two or raise flags. In fact, we don't really want them to think we are a threat - as we don't mean them harm. Hopefully, we can come to a reasonable cooperation with them. But I concur. That works. Perhaps between you and Beverly, we can help alleviate some of their concerns. Though, I would like to get Nex's thoughts on this. She undoubtedly picked up something from them. If they have hostile intent - which I doubt - she'd undoubtedly know."

"So that will be the plan then. First thing tomorrow, we'll have Beverly relook over our injured guest from there, we can have Data show him around and then work with Geordi. Though," Picard looked at Riker. "Do speak with Data - if you weren't already planning too. He is a good officer but sometimes a bit naive." He didn't elaborate on that or how Riker was to speak with Data or what to say - no, he trusted his first officer to know what to do. The man was more than capable.

He headed toward the door. They still didn't know where they were at and though it might seem like their guests could know, they still could look around a bit. Rommie had said something about this possibly being a Commonwealth System. IF they weren't a different universe, an interesting phenomenon in its own right, then there might be some indication. Checking out the nearby planets wouldn't take them too far from here and be as good of a start as any.

~ ~ ~

The next morning came quickly. Gaheris was a bit surprised at the suggestion to get a follow up with the doctor. He probably would have protested if it wasn't for the fact that there really wasn't a use. He would be fine but he was also Nietzschean and survival was everything. If going to the doctor for a follow-up that wouldn't really bother him meant eliminating even a minute risk, then that would be fine. It wasn't like he had much to do otherwise.

Though, Commander Riker offering to provide Rommie a tour in the duration was a bit surprise. He almost stopped her but after studying the two nodded. "That would be a good idea. After I finish up with the doctor I'm sure Data and I will catch up." He hadn't met the man yet. The officer going to meet up with him in sickbay. Not that he was going alone. The ever friendly head of security would be with him. Gaheris almost hoped the alien would ask him to fight. He was very curious about the strength and skills of the man. Though he knew that a fight wouldn't be in either's best interest at the moment.

Giving a nod, he let the Klingon lead him away leaving Rommie alone with Commander Riker. The woman watched Gaheris go for a moment before she turned back to the Enterprise's first officer. "I appreciate the tour," she said almost formal like, no major emotions showing. "Your ship seems fascinating and I'd love to learn more about her. I presume it's a her?" Most ships were but not all. The Balance of Judgement was male. And there were others. But overall, they were referred as female.
